George has been my fave restraunt in Toronto for many years and has never disappointed. Staff are excellent setting is special and the food is world class.
My go to place on this occasion wedding anniversary.
If you are lucky enough to score the patio in the summer you will be pleasantly surprised.
Been here dozens of times over more than a decade, never had a bad course let alone a bad meal.
Handled covid well.
I don't usually write reviews, but dinner here last night was on a next level. We all did the 5-course tasting menu and it was the perfect amount of gluttony. The amount of thought put into each morsel is something to behold, along with the perfectly sourced ingredients, gorgeous plating and overall incredible skill of the chef.
Also, best foie gras I have ever had. I cannot wait to go back.
Lorenzo is such a talented chef. Was such a treat to celebrate my husband's birthday at George. Will definitely be back. The beef tenderloin was like butter and the textures and flavours in the lobster were perfect.
It was our 10yr anniversary and the food was absolutely incredible! HIGHLY recommend !
8:15pm reservation for two. Seated by front window, 5 tables for 2, bench along the window facing in and seat across facing the window. We were initially seated right next to another couple but within 1min we were offered to move a table over to provide space between parties. Such a good suggestion, for health safety but also for ambiance.
We ordered two of the 7 course tasting with the wine pairing. I’m not a culinary expert, but I do know good food and plating. Each dish was creative and looked like an art piece. The house-made items really stood out and it seems like the Chef and team has fun making these dishes.
It’s expensive but honestly you are getting your moneys worth. For a nice and unique dining experience, it’s worth it.
I will be back again.
Solid classic tasting menu experience. Outstanding service and ambience and exactly what you would expect. Double sided tasting menu was a real bonus for those willing to share. Seven courses was quite filling.
We had a very good time, food was amazing. We had the 10 courses menu with wine pairing.
Things that would have made the experience impeccable:
- Masks made comprehension of the explanations for the dishes difficult. Having some small cards explaining each the dish would have been appreciated.
- We all felt there was too much food, quantity-wise, what we received over the first 7 dishes would have been better. Maybe it’s a matter of perspective/opinions, but my expectations for tasting menus is that it’s an overall experience which includes managing quantities where on the guest side deciding between 5, 7 or 10 dishes is not about more or less quantity but about more discoveries to make. Same for the wine pairing, quantity for one wine pairing for two was enough.
- The overall ambiance was a bit too bustling to my taste, I feel a slightly “cosier” ambiance would have been nice.
But this to say, this was great, not perfect, but I would definitely come back.
It was the perfect experience for my father’s 70th birthday.
George is the best when it comes to a tasting menu in Toronto.
Outstanding service and seafood tasting menu!! Noise level a little bit high because of large groups dining together. Perhaps separate couples to quieter spots in the restaurant. Definitely will continue to go back and would recommend to anyone looking for superb creative food!!
It was wonderful to be back at the George. The ambiance and the food remain excellent. We had a perfect evening, and our host was attentive and hospitable. Highly recommend!
We went to George with our friends because we had been there in the summer and LOVED it. This time things were disappointing. The noise and crowd made it difficult to hear our friends when they were talking. We opted for the seven course menu, and the first three courses were cold fish. Couldn’t they have brought one non dish dish, and have one of the fish dishes be warm? The main was a tiny portion of lamb which was underdone as we as some sort of fowl which was rubbery. Dessert was brought and eaten before we were offered coffee or tea, which made dessert not as nice as I’d hoped.
I wish our meal had been as stellar as in the summer. We won’t be returning for a long time. 😢
Extremely happy with everything! The service and food was amazing and impeccable. Highly recommend! It got quite loud by 8pm, so next time we might come for the earliest service. But even with that, it was an amazing experience.
I would eat here again. Superb in every aspect. Enjoyed the whole experience
My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion . We were not disappointed. The tasting menu was creative and tasty. The service was attentive and friendly. It was a perfect evening. We took our time and we’re not rushed in any way. We would recommend this establishment in a heartbeat.
Fantastic experience and an exceptionally delicious meal. Highly recommend!
We had the 10 course tasting menu ($175 with wine pairings ($115 extra) all 10 courses come with wine. 5 and 7 course menus also available. The sommelier came to the table and explained each wine pairing very well and their enthusiasm for wine was apparent. At George the courses are blind meaning there is no menu / you do not know what they will be in advance. If you are dining with another person they get a different course/wine pairing. The plating was beautiful and the pics do not do them justice. As we were celebrating we received complimentary champagne to start the meal which was a thoughtful touch. Bread was also served. No butter but the bread was moist and flavorful on its own. There were some crisps were quite nice. The first 5 courses were seafood and primarily served raw / cold 1- Tuna / Octopus ( the octopus was very nice ) 2-Swordfish / Hamachi 3 - Salmon / Salmon 4- Scallop / Rabbit 5- Lobster Salad (gorgeous presentation and very nice ) / Tuna Tartare - for me personally 1 cold seafood dish max would have been enough - i dont mind seafood but hot dishes would have been preferred. Keep this in mind when dining here. 6- Sweetbread with fois gras ( this had a lovely pecan tart ) / Squab 7- Beef / Lamb. 8- cheese course 9 and 10 dessert - the last dessert was paired with a 30 year old sweet wine ambiance was nice and tables were dressed with white linens. Overall a nice experience.
Get together with friends for a birthday. We also got married at The George 5 yrs ago.
We love this restaurant. We have visited many times. The last occasion was in the back patio under sheepskin and heated lamps right in the middle of this crazy pandemic. This occasion we were inside and as always the service and food was impeccable. George is one of our favourite restaurants in Toronto.
Always a favorite for special occasions. So glad we made it in recently before Omicron took hold!
Good restaurant with plenty of ambiance and good service. They don’t clean off the table after each service and they charge for bread which is fine but no butter. Service was consistent but impersonal. Food was delicious but I won’t remember what I ate in a day. Each seafood dish of the 7 plate tasting seems to mold into one in my memory. Overall a nice experience but I wouldn’t rush back.
A memorable dining experience that is in the top ten that I have ever experienced after dining in some of the finest restaurants of New York, London, Milan, Casablanca, Paris and Madrid.
The Perfect Tasting Experience and Service
Love eating at the George, always good food and wine pairing is great.
It was an amazing night. Excellent service and staff and incredible food from start to finish. We were celebrating our parents 40th anniversary and everyone made sure it was a night that we would remember. And we most definitely will. We all had the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairings. Whatever I write here can’t do justice to the wonderful night we had at George. A restaurant that everyone should experience.
One of the best meals I’ve had. Did the 5 course blind meal. Lamb was fabulous, swordfish was great, beef was super tender. Best bison I’ve ever had. The wine pairing for perfect. I would do it again.
Had the 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Very good food, the service was excellent
I felt the room was lacking in ambiance. Food was very good, service acceptable.
The food was delicious and interesting. Wine pairing was fun too.
One of the most varied and enjoyable tasting menus I have ever sampled. I am planning to return for the 7 or 10 course dinners.
Great expect the venison was over done
Very delightful ambience. Waitress was very knowledgeable. Small creative portions however very filling and delicious A lovely experience.
Service was impeccable and attentive without being intrusive, wine pairings were responsive to preferences while also allowing for new experiences, food was delicious, very accommodating of dietary restrictions.
We celebrated my husband 54th birthday at George. It was an amazing experience food was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely go back.
Rob is amazing, first class services. He made our night !
We once again had the vegetarian tasting menu for two. Each of us got a different dish for each of the five courses, so ten unique creations in all. Just YUM. So many interesting flavour combinations.
Overall it was a very pleasant evening. Highly recommend this Restaurant.
It was a great experience. The food was great the wine pairing was excellent and generous. Would definitely recommend. The staff was excellent.
We had the tasting menu plus wine flight! All phenomenal. Service from Enzo and Christina was superb.
The food and service is always spectacular
