   Ate here before a Ballet Arizona performance. David, our server, was superb. I would say food was between very good and outstanding. Definitely would plan on eating here whenever I come to the Botanical Gardens. BTW, the ballet performance was awesome!!

   Food was very good. Bathroom was a mess, I informed the manager. We dined there because we were going to the Ballet Arizona performance. Overall could have been a little cleaner.

   We have always liked Gertrudes but this round left some doubts. Some things were great like the chorizo taco appetizer and the dinner salad. the Ceasar salald were quite yellow and I think romaine should br deep green. Duck should be juicy but was overcooked and very dry. An Asian entree was liked and Italian one not so much. Kids chicken Nuggets were fantastic. Gertrudes needs a broader wine selecttion, the only Chardonnay was $54., but good. 4 adults, 1 child $378.00 with tip. Waiter was up to the task.

   Brad was an excellent server, knew the menu well. Was very attentive and friendly. The shrimp and scallops were some of the best I’ve had. My wife’s duck was amazing.

   Staff was just the right amount of attention. Liked the fresh salads and the almond butter dressing was amazing. Wish they had more hard cider. Was a friends birthday and made it special with a handwritten card and beautiful desert.

    We ate here before attending a ballet at the Botanical Gardens and very much enjoyed the fresh, quality food. Also enjoyed trying a Prickly Pear margarita. If you're going for an event and want to eat here be sure and make reservations ahead of time, they're always full. We'd tried many times over the years to walk in without reservations and it's booked. I'm glad I finally got to try and will definitely go back.

    We were there for an early dinner in late May. Many menu items seemed too heavy to be featured during warmer weather in the desert. The menu could have used a seasonal review, as ribs and duck seemed too heavy. We would have appreciated more choices for interesting lighter fare. Service was lackluster but the patio -- surrounded on three sides by the beauty of the Desert Botanical Garden -- was lovely.

    Do not miss this gem inside the botanical gardens! Go to the gardens too but stop in at Gertrude's first or afterwards. The Sonoran Benedict was outstanding!

    Lovely restaurant in a wonderful location. Beautiful morning stroll around the Desert Botanical Gardens followed by a delicious brunch on the patio surrounded by bird song and desert beauty. A perfect Sunday morning.

    Great setting and ambience but the food is nothing special, especially at the prices being asked. Elote fritters were good, and our guest enjoyed the tortellini. Duck breast was tasty but overcooked. Seafood enchiladas were not worth the price, when the taqueria near our home has the same thing but much more flavorful and $20 cheaper. Same for the steak. Fine for people who have a limited palate but definitely not a "go-to" restaurant for those who enjoy fine dining.

    Excellent service, excellent food, excellent overall experience. It has been a few years since we were last at Gertrude's but I can guarantee it won't take that long to go back. The food and service were on point. We ordered the eloté corn fritters and bread for appetizers, bison short ribs, three burgers, and a tamale for our main entrees, and donuts (large) and budino pudding for dessert. Delicious! The food was quick to come out and our server was extremely friendly and pleasant! A definite gem of a restaurant!

    I love going here for the ambience of the outdoor patio and the fresh organic options. I always am pleased with the quality of the food and my favorite appetizer is the cauliflower- roasted with hot peppers. The staff are always friendly and professional too.

    All the hard edges increased the ambient noise level to the point we had great difficulty having a conversation at a 4 top table. I would not consider Gertrude's again for friends getting together to 'catch up'.

    Hostess did not seat us in at an open table. Made our party go out to the Garden where we ordered a beverage, then brought us back inside to the open table we had just walked past. . . Not sure what that was all about. Decor on some of the tables consisted of dead flowers in old wine bottles. Not a great look for a nice, classy place like Gertrude's!

    Have been here several times for brunch and have been very happy with the experience each time. Great breakfast and lunch items to choose from, well prepared and presented dishes, and great flavors. For those so inclined to enjoy an adult beverage, I highly recommend their Manhattan.
