Globe @ YVR - Fairmont Vancouver Airport

2 of our party have food allergies and they were so accommodating. We had mentioned when we made the reservation the allergies and when we arrived they said we are aware of them and they went out of their way to make sure all of us had similar treats!
This is a convenient dining option while a guest at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel. There is, apparently, no dress code or guideline of any sort. Wear whatever you wish...think Famous Dave's.
The food is unremarkable and, like the hotel itself, quite expensive. Again, it is all about the convenience. Oh yes...bread is not offered with your meal. You must purchase bread and it is not bread, at all. If you order it you will eventually receive a freshly baked little loaf of some sort of a sweet/savory, herbal cake...somewhat like corn "bread".
really enjoyed our meal & service was very good. Dining area was quite a large area which made it nosier than we would have liked, view was a little disappointing but the guitarist was very entertaining.
Great as always. Richard the server was the consummate professional. Thank You!
Food was very salty and service was poor. At the prime dinner hours, we were told they had run out of the daily specials.
Very expensive, even by airport food standards. Slow service despite being mostly empty.
Everything was great. It was our first time at this location and it’s definitely going to be one of our favourites.
Just enough variety and priced just right.
Staff are all very friendly and make a point in conversing with you.
We went for night tea. All food are very good, special blend of tea was nice. Highly recommend.
Diana was such a great server, she made our dining experience very memorable. Thank you so much.
crab cakes appetizers are only two small crab cakes yet you pay a fortune.
risotto was undercooked and were as hard as rocks.
tables are so close together by the window, there is no privacy
don't waste your money on this horrible restaurant.
Exceptional waitress. Love the view and atmosphere. Food was good but very pricey for what was received
Very special pre flight break!
Everything was wonderful at this restaurant except the musician was way too loud-it was difficult carrying on a conversation with our friends! Loved the food and the service!
The food was absolutely amazing. Fresh seafood in a wonderful presentation and delicious combination of flavors. They easily accommodated my food sensitivity. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a delightful evening.
Service was outstanding. From being promptly greeted and seated to our server — everyone we encountered was friendly. Sorry, forgot our server’s name — Diana? Deannna? was fantastic. She was efficient, helpful, cheerful. My father doesn’t care for vegetables or salads but he said three times during the meal how much he liked the salad that came with his burger. The dressing he said was so good. We’ve never seen him finish his greens so enthusiastically! The featured dessert, a rhubarb ricotta cheesecake was delicious, and I generally don’t like cheesecake.
Walking in and out through the Hotel was also a very pleasant experience as staff were friendly and greeted us. We were particularly impressed by the bell hop who asked if we needed the elevator as we were walking in that direction and he offered to go call it for us.
We enjoyed every aspect of our lunch that day.
Soup was excellent
Food was extremely mediocre unfortunately. We ordered the smoked beef tartare - the tartare was flavorful with depth, but served with a toast that was drenched in oil. We also ordered the duck and the onion risotto. Both lack flavor and extremely bland as if they were not seasoned at all. The risotto had virtually no flavor from the onions or any aged/sharp cheese. I normally don't put extra salt in my food but needed some.
Service was great, our server was attentive and prompt.
Ambiance was good, there was live music that was not too loud. The noise level was good for conversation even with the live music in the background. Also a good place for people watching and plane watching.
Stayed at the Fairmont the night before an early flight, so we dined at Globe@YVR. My wife and I shared the seafood tower which was fantastic. Really nice variety of dishes on there... the candied salmon & ahi poke were the standouts in my opinion. We didn't have entrees as the tower was quite a lot of food.
The service was very professional and seemed to show up just at the right points during the meal.
Interestingly, the restaurant has it's own bee colony. They included bee pollen from that colony with our meal, and they offered jars of honey for purchase that we thought would be a unique gift for some friends back home.
Overall, we were very happy with our decision to stay at the Fairmont and our decision to dine at the Globe.
There are varieties of items in the afternoon tea set. Tea served in a big pot, no need to refill but the tea was cold after awhile. Scones were very good, savory items were the worse, sweet items were so so. Originally I invited a friend to go but received a regret because she did not like the food there.
Breakfast buffet was disappointing. It did not taste great and had few selection. One person was great, but aside from that, we were asked to wait constantly for juice refill, coffee, omlette, parking ticket, etc. The restaurant was very clean and quiet.
Sophisticated dining, great servic. This is our go-to spot when we want to eat like grown ups, even with our kids. We went for the Sunday morning buffet recently and were pleased with the quality and choices. The kids were half price. It included drinks which was unexpected and appreciated at an upscale restaurant. The host and waitstaff were friendly and capable. We had to ask for service from a not so friendly cook at the omelette station and the waffles as well which didn’t seem to be in line with the rest of the experience. Otherwise it would have been five stars all around.
It was busy that evening and there did not seem to be enough staff so service was very slow and our waitress was not energetic, knowledgeable or friendly. Also quite noisy. I went there for lunch before, it was a lot better; service was quick, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. So that dinner was a bit of an unpleasant surprise.
We went for afternoon tea. They charged $70+/each. On the 3-tiers plates, there are two scorns which are reasonably good, but the other finger food was awful (God knows how they have sat on the plates) and no sandwiches. It does NOT worth the money. However, my friend had a Club Sandwich and it's much better than the "afternoon tea" food. The server was polite.
Conclusion: Don't go for their afternoon tea and don't go if you are in a hurry. It is convenient if you want a quiet place for conversation, and/or to hang out before a flight. They give free parking (3 hours).
Great high tea as usual. Can't beat the Groupon deal, just be sure to tip appropriately!
Nice Lunch .... pricey, but it is the Fairmont .... they do give you a 3 hour parking pass if you spend $35
Went for afternoon tea before a flight. Booked on open table, left a note to Re: food restriction and when we got there they had it all sorted for us. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, great food.
Lovely Friday afternoon tea. Excellent service and good food.
I dine at many Fairmont locations and I was shocked at the poor wait service , but was happy with the food ! At one point The drink had to be sent back and instead of apologizing she carried on like we were troubling her! I will not dine here again!
Service was impeccable!
Terrific hotel! Excellent service. Really
As a celiac and vegan, it is often difficult to find food that is good. The chef made a meal for me that was similar to menu options and yet different, creative and tasty.
Nice atmosphere and good service- we loved the seafood chowder and truffle fries- plan to return on our return layover in Vancouver.
Slightly disappointed that Time between courses was way too long. Service a bit flat. Food was nice just seemed a little disorganized. Will come back to give another opportunity to do better.
We were five for dinner, after a trip to Whistler, the night before heading back to Miami, New York and Portland. The restaurant was very convenient as we stayed in The Fairmont. While expensive, we thought the food was very good. I was a little surprised to have to actually pay for the bread, but it was delicious. Our server was very slow, but we weren't in any hurry, so it was fine.
Had a drink at the bar in the late afternoon, which was very nice.
Quiet, and I enjoyed the table by the window. Great YVR view.
My wife and I are true believers of impressions, that future experiences will build from the first. At first, we were skeptic all as we sat down right in front of the kitchen. However, our server was very understanding and knowing that we are there to enjoy the food, not smelling like food, and moved us to another table. He has wowed us from then on, from wine to food to finish. 5 stars!!!
We have dined here on two previous occasions each for Valentines Day. We enjoy the overall atmosphere in the airport.
Fantastic as always!!! Dinner before a 7 week holiday to Mexico. Perfect evening to start our trip.
We did a staycation in Vancouver for a night and stayed at the Fairmont YVR. Food is a bit pricier than it needs to be but, I suspect it's because of the location.
Great food and service while you are waiting for your flight. Servers are very professional and friendly.
