Gramercy Grill Ratings and Reviews
Food and service was above average but not great. It is a convenient, acceptable local restaurant.
I had a chicken sandwich with a salad. The sandwich was great, the salad was terrible: nothing but lettuce and an insufficient amount of dressing. My wife had soup and salad. Again, the soup was great, the salad not so much. Come on guys! Making a good salad isn't that tough
The restaurant has a nice, relaxing atmosphere suitable for a quiet conversation. Service was highly attentive and friendly. The menu items are priced mid-range so there is no sticker shock. We had the clams to start. This dish was very flavorful with a generous serving of clams enhance with sliced chorizo. We selected the seafood bowl and the lamb shank for main courses and both did not disappoint. The assortment of seafood included crab claws, mussels, scallops, prawns and fish pieces in a tomato broth. The serving portion was quite generous and tasty. My lamb shank was very large and served with assorted sliced vegetables in a broth base. The lamb was easy to cut and very flavorful. Dessert selections included the lemon tart and blueberry cheesecake. Each was nicely presented and garnished with fresh cream.
While there were five other couples dining in the main area it was disconcerting that the room was mostly empty during the length of our meal. This lack of patronage certainly does not reflect the excellent service and food quality. This place is a neighborhood gem and worth a drive to the west side of Vancouver for any occasion.
We have dined at this restaurant many times but not during the past year. We wonder if it has changed ownership.
Although the prawns and duck were tasty, the pasta dish and mussels were not. In fact, we question the freshness of the mussels as the main consumer of them had gastric problems and another diner, who tried a couple of them, was also affected.
Where fresh salmon is readily available, to have the catch of the day farmed salmon is not acceptable.
Not a great wine selection, what we first chose was not available.
They had good seafood but nothing about this place was outstanding. The waiters got the prices of the catch of the day wrong- one said it was $20 and one said it was $28, which in my opinion is a huge price difference. They charge for bread which was unexpected. Overall the food was good , location was below expectations and the service was fair. Might return in the future if we're in the neighbourhood.
I didn't enjoy my meal because I ordered a pasta and the pasta noodles were under cooked and my whole entree wasn't hot enough in general. I've been to more high end restaurants who didn't have a $3 charge on bread so for this being quite casual I didn't expect that.
We Have been many times over the years and we come all the way from Burnaby because we like it so much. Wish it was in our neighbourhood.
Quaint atmosphere, enjoyed he fact there was no loud music playing and we could carry on a conversation. Great meal for the price point, will return again.
Went to Grammercy for Mother's Day lunch. Had a lovely very server. Our brunches were all different and all very good. I had the Prime Rib Hash and it was delicious. Light tomato based sauce. The meat was plentiful and very tender. The eggs were perfectly poached. I have been here before for brunches and dinners and have not been disappointed...
Had a good meal, Keith our server was great.
A real go to place in the neighborhood. Quiet enough to carry on a conversation unlike all the chain restaurants around.
I tend to do a lot of birthday lunches there with friends, food and service has always been good and they have never rushed us through a meal, so it has always been a pleasant dining experience. I love the brunches and lunches there.
Great food as usual. Amazing service! Thanks Irish!
Service and food were great! Will return.
It's the favourite of a friend of mine. I ordered fish and it was cooked to perfection - easier said than done. Nice service, pleasant setting, parking in a garage accessed from the back alley. Great espresso to conclude the meal.
we seem to find our way to Gramercy Grill whenever there is a special occasion. The food is well-prepared, and the service is attentive. The fish is especially well prepared and presented, market fresh.
Always tasty. Interesting specials. Good value. Pleasant service. Quiet
Great Lunch menu and friendly service. I would recommend for a small Business meeting of 3-4 people. Service and specials are great and great location and parking options.
We visited the Gramercy Grill during Dine-Out Vancouver. This was our first time eating here. We were very surprised that they offered ONLY the dine-out menu where all other restaurants we've come across have offered regular menus as well.
The Dine-Out menu was very average - not much flavor. One had the duck (rare was expected for this dish but it was quite raw inside and very leathery outside) One had the striploin (we were told this could not be served to our preference "blue".....once it arrived, it was obvious that this was because it was very thin)
Overall a bland and limp dinner. We may try again when the regular menu is available but it wouldn't be at the top of our list of choices.
Service and food are excellent but if you are allergic to MSG, don't try.
The dine-out meal was not very good. The service and dessert were good but the steak was tough and inedible. We sent it back once and got another that was similar so gave up. Very disappointed.
Very nice neighbourhood restaurant, excellent service and the food is very good. We booked during Dine-Out and had their set menu. The mussels were delicious (as usual). Beef carpaccio was a bit thin but good taste and presentation. Mains were very good as well. Dessert, flour less chocolate cake was excellent. Overall, would recommend on a regular basis. Try their dinner chicken liver. It's amazing.
First time visit during Dine Out Vancouver event. Gramercy Grill is a good neighbourhood "find" for us. The Google map and Street View directions to the restaurant location were not correct, showing it to be on the corner of 16th Avenue and Arbutus.
Had a very nice meal as part of "Dining Out Vancouver 2017". My steak was very good and the two who had the steelhead found it very tasty. Nice friendly service.
Four of us ate here during Dine out Vancouver 2017; three had the fish and the fourth had the steak. We all enjoyed our meals. The flourless chocolate cake was the hit for dessert. This is one of the few restaurants where we hearing-challenged folk can get together and have a conversation without yelling over the music, the TV or the other diners. A great place for lunch or dinner, especially when weather permits the patio to be open.
The service was friendly and efficient, and the food arrived promptly and was tasty. We went for an anniversary dinner during Dine Out, and it didn't disappoint. We'll likely be back to try brunch or happy-hour options, which appear good.
Everything we ordered was excellent. We added the bread and they were also tasty and refillable.
Their dine out menu had a good selection. It was worth for $30 and we were happy.
I have been a customer here since they opened many years ago.
My last visit was in September and we left after a cocktail and appetizer as the server never returned after we had our drinks and shared appy; so no dinner ordered! We decided to meet friends for brunch yesterday and they too have been regulars for years. We had made a ressie with Open Table that has never been credited to our account most likely because the server really couldn't give a about our existence. She didn't know the specials, no knowledge of the menu and her body language alone should have sent us to another restaurant. Huge disapointment; only 1 plate of food was correct and "good", the other 3, well 2 ( as 1 meal was cancelled since the server guessed at the ingredients and was wrong) were ok. Corned beef was cold in the sandwich and burger was missing the cheese and the bun was soooo hard. Fruit "salad" was diced apples!! It's a bit sad that when Dennis the chef isn't there, the food isn't consistent. I would hate to see this place close due to lack of interest from the "new" owners of 2 years. Two visits with rude, lacklustre service means we won't be back, way to go GG you just lost 4 long time customers.
Not a great night, steak overdone and pork dry.
The mood of a meal is wrecked when one meal has to be recooked.
Server was nice though...
Maybe just a bad night.
Great specials. Taste food. Pleasant, attentive service. Quiet for easy conversation!
nice place, the starters are very good the service was also very good however the main wasnt as good as it could have been. we both had the lamb shank and the broth was a little too watery for our taste.
overall a pretty decent place.
Seafood boullabaise is the best...especially the Broth....DON'T CHANGE IT!
Our map didn't put us in the right place but found it several blocks north. It's more of a bar and I would recommend going later in the evening. Portions were like appetizers so we just got several to make a meal out of it since they were delicious.
Excellent Thanksgiving set dinner from roast turkey to steelhead catch-of-the-day. Just wonderful. Regular menu is pretty good too.
Food is always good, staff are just right. Always a sure thing.
Good food with good service in a local restaurant. I've recommended it several times and none have ever been disappointed. Especially notable is the staffs' willingness to accommodate those with physical differences. I have been there with folks in wheelchairs, post-stroke with some paralysis, deafness, and in every case the staff has gone out of its way to assist the person and make everyone comfortable. They don't make a big thing about it. It's just they like clients to be comfortable.
We enjoy the Gramercy on a regular basis. There are no surprises. Well prepared dishes served by friendly and accommodating staff, many of whom have been there for years. You can go there knowing you will enjoy yourself.
Suggestions would be to vary / expand the appetizer menu and offer a "house" special wine, on a regular basis.
We had a very pleasant meal and overall experience. The Veal Schnitzel, which we both ordered, was a very generous portion and well prepared. We share an appetizer of chicken livers which was delicious, if not quite hot enough for our taste. If I was looking for a special evening with gourmet dining, I would not have gone to Gramercy. I don't think that it pretends to be that. If you want a pleasant, well prepared meal, friendly and both casual and attentive service, and are looking to pay less than $45 per person including wine, Gramercy would meet those criteria and satisfy you.
I took a 100 year old there for her birthday lunch and the staff were amazing and the food was very good. My friend was delighted and wants to go back for her 110th!!!!
Thanks so much.
