For $18.99 a really good deal for a brunch. Not a lot of items but great value.
Granite City in Troy, Michigan provided good food, with good service. The Restaurant calls itself a brewery. My recommendation is to focus on the food, forget the beer and start serving American, German and other beers on tap and in bottles. If one does not like IPA's and does not like fruit in your beer, there was basically one choice. The brewery part of the restaurant was not all that attractive to me.
The food is very delicious. It is served quickly. And the staff is always friendly. Highly recommend!
My wife had Fish tacos. The fish was really fishy tasting indicating that it was old. That is not good. They would have been really tasty but should not have had a strong fish taste. I grew up in New Jersey where fresh fish abounded so this was disappointing.
I had the fish and chips. The fish was much better but I knew that I was taking a risk in that they were batter in a beer batter. I should have known better. All you could taste was stale beer.
There are many other items on the menu that might be terrific. But they fish for the tacos needs to be fresh and don't order the fish and chips if you don't really like the beer batter.
I would try the French dip type sandwich or hamburger if I go back.
Our server, Mike, was a good guy and attentive. So o problem with the service. It was a Thursday night so not busy either.
Slow service had to remake flatbread pizza wanted no onions put onions on the 1st one total time there 90 mins wanted long for dessert also but we do like the food
Celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary we decided to try Granite City. We had waited 25 minutes for our appetizer and then waited another 20 minutes for it to be remade, special instructions to omit an allergen were not followed. We found it hard to believe that nachos take 20 minutes to remake. Frustrated, we declined the appetizer as we were just tired of waiting and our main entrees had made it to the table 1-2 minutes prior to the 2nd attempt of the nachos. So after waiting 45 minutes on a Tuesday we were frustrated and just wanted to eat our dinner. As opposed to just leaving the fixed appetizer as an apology, it was taken away. I found that tacky after the inconvenience and wait.
We were split on the tastiness of our dinners. I had ordered one of the specials, a crab blt. It was just okay, not much flavor a bit disappointing. The other entree was a waffle dish with bbq pork. The pork had Flavor, but the corn jalapeño waffle was dry with little flavor. The waitress wasn’t the most attentive, had to request that our drinks be refilled.
Due to the error with our appetizer and long wait the MOD came to us and comped us a free dessert, cookie with ice cream.
Although the dessert was amazing, we left feeling hungry. Went home and ate leftovers from a previous night.
I came here for to celebrate my friend's birthday. I used the OpenTable app and asked for high-top seating, but they didn't have servers in that area (even though there were other customers seated at the high-top area), but I understood. I also left a note on the OpenTable app to send us a dessert with "Happy Birthday" in writing to our table after dinner. That did not happen. I'm upset these details were missed.
It was a Saturday night, glad I made a reservation, as there were many celebrations going on. Our server was great, didn't feel rushed and she let us know all of the specials. The one thing that I didn't expect was the amount of kid's. Overall a good experience.
I love the food and service but it is extremely loud and you have you really raise your voice in order for anyone near you to hear you. It’s the one draw back of GC.
The ambience was nice the food in my opinion not good for the price there was no bread or salad to come before the meal and we sat for awhile before someone came to take our order then she got my drink order wrong not too impressed I like Texas Road House MUCH BETTER... take my advice and go to Chris Ruth, if you gotta have a steak 🥩 go where you will get the service and the food for your money.
Great variety of food options and everyone enjoyed their food. The Mahi Trio Tacos were perfectly cooked, flavorful and just the right amount of space and seasoning. The chicken sandwich at the table was called a great tasting sandwich and the burgers we're also enjoyed. The side salad was also imoressive in size, toppings and flavor. Highly recommend the food we had and restaurant.
Did not like menu choices - lack of different sandwiches. Had burger that tasted too much like maple syrup. Wife did not care much for her salad as well.
Food is good but a little pricey. The restaurant needs some updates; our booth was torn and I noticed when I slid into the seat with shorts on! My husband likes the beer a lot. It;s noisier than I like in the dining area.
Food was great and waitress was wonderful!
Well I have to start off by saying that initially I didn’t think this was going to be a good experience. I made reservations for June 17 at 3:30 PM. On the Friday before that date I was called by an employee of Granite city. They informed me I would have one hour and 15 minutes in order to enjoy my meal. I have never in my 54 years on this earth ever been called by anywhere to tell me that I would have a limited amount of time in order to enjoy a meal. I reluctantly still keep my reservation. However Sunday I called and asked to speak to a manager to cancel my reservation. I explained to Tabatha the manager what had occurred and she said that that was probably a new employee and that they should not have done that and she offered to comp my meal if I would not cancel my reservation. I told her I would think about it and call her back. My wife and I had wanted to try this place because some friends had recommended it and we both enjoy craft beers so I called her back and said I would be happy to come in and keep the reservation. I told her that it was not necessary that you do that but she absolutely insisted on it. Our server Molly was fantastic. She was also a newer employee but you would not have known it from the service we received. Her attentiveness was great. Now I do have to say that the appetizers in my mind were a bit overpriced. My wife got the jumbo old Bay rubbed jumbo chicken wings and I got the jumbo Asian shrimp. First off neither were jumbo and second off for $11 for eight wings and $14 for six shrimp I think that these were a tad overpriced. We also ordered a flight of four beers each which were good and we each had a mixed drink. My wife had a margarita which was delicious and I had a Mojito which was one of the best I have ever had. The rest of our meal was delicious. My wife’s bacon burger was phenomenal as well as my 24 ounce ribeye steak. The chocolate cake we had for dessert was very rich and very chocolatey. Thanks again Tabatha and Molly
1st time dining here and we loved it! Thinking about a 1 a month brunch outing for the family. 🙂
Service was good on Father’s Day, but the staff could not keep the buffet food trays with food. The food itself was ok, not great, but not horrible. It was however, horrible for the $28.99 price they put on it. That was a $10- $12 buffet at best.
We went to the Sunday brunch buffet, and everything was great. There was variety, everything was delicious, and we were all very happy with the service.
Very good experience. I took my husband there to celebrate Father's day. Very good dinner and great sample of beer. Service was quick and meal was delicious.
The fish tacos were great. The waitress was attentive and it wasn't too loud. Being able to easily reserve a table online was a big plus.
We were there to celebrate a birthday and use the birthday entree for the birthday. Only one person had been there but we all enjoyed our meals. We will go back to try some of the other things.
Service was wonderful..food just so so...ait was extremely noisy. Too noisy to enjoy the company. Quite expensive for that ambience.
Workers are very friendly
Desert and food was delicious😋
This was our first time at Granite City. I would say this is a bar that serves food more than a restaurant. The appetizer and drinks were good but the entrees we ordered were both dry. French fries were nearly burned on the outside but pushing raw on the inside. It was far too loud for our taste. Two people at a small table couldn't have a conversation.
Birthday dinner with my children. We had a great evening and our server Doug was awesome. We’ll definitely return.
I was excited to have dinner at GC because there isn't one near my home.
I am vegetarian and there aren't many choices on the menu so I chose the salad with salmon.
I asked to replace the bleu cheeze with another option and the waitress said there wasn't one which was surprising because not everyone likes bleu cheeze---especially me.
I ended up eating half of the salad and ordering a second cup of cheddar ale soup. The salad wasn't bad, it just wan't as good as I thought it would be.
Next time, I will just have a bowl of soup...which is always amazingly delicious!
They sat us next to the kitchen, so we could not converse. Service was great, food was like Chili’s. I’ve been to one in Davenport, IA and the food was much better. Also, I specified in the reservation this was a birthday luncheon. Nothing special was done (like, say, a piece of cake with a lit candle on it?)
Everything was great! Just felt it was a little loud for a dining experience
I really enjoyed my overall experience. This was my first time and the staff were really nice and friendly. I was celebrating my graduation
The food and service were outstanding. As a beer snob though I have to say the brews do not stand up to the outstanding Michigan craft brew competition. Rochester Mills has much better (and a greater selection of) beer, and they should supplement their beer menu with other Michigan outside brands such as Shorts, Bell’s, Founders, etc.
I was not pleased that the restaurant did not fulfill my request that put a damper on my guest's birthday because the surprise that I requested in the reservation did not happen. The hostess at the front confirmed that my request was correct and that they would do it for me, but they never did it. I was very disappointed.
Consistently good food and good service. Good place to meet friends.
Our server Braxton did an awesome job!
This was not our first time at this restaurant. All previous experiences were great, this one not so much. The food had no flavor and the service was awful.
She forgot what we asked for, we had no utensils. We were finished eating, she asked us if we were done, we said yes but she did NOT clear the table. She brought the bill to the dirty table, we had to move around the dirty dishes to be able to settle our bill.
We left thinking, what the heck just happened here. Needless to say, we won’t be back.
Mike was an awesome server, very accommodating and knowledgeable. He made the evening very enjoyable.
The food and service was great. The noise level was so high I had to work hard to have a conversation across the large seating table. Hate high ceilings because they project noise. Value was average at best.
Service was horrible. Waitress was awful; no customer service skills, no personality. Orders were incorrect; we were unable to take full advantage of the Happy Hour items due to the waitress coming back to the table when Happy Hour was over. Granite City Troy was not a pleasant dining experience for the birthday celebration
We went to the Sunday brunch. The food itself was very good, and they kept up with the replenishment of the food really well. Biggest problem, however, was the fact that it was in such a tight space for the amount of food and traffic. It really should have been spaced out more for people to get around easier and not bump into each other. The lady getting food from the other table turned quickly and her hair got into my plate as i approached another table, yuck. Otherwise, good buffet.
This review is about a Sunday brunch, May 20th. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were told the brunch was not set up yet. I went and set back out in the car. There was no invitation to sit at a table for water or a cup of coffee. When we all came back in, the hostess was just as rude with me as my first interaction. There was definitely some sort of attitude and discussion with staffing. We were told Nicole would seat us and take drink orders but Ben would be our waiter. Ben never appeared so we had Nicole for the remainder of our time there. Nicole was very good but very busy. I would like to suggest a coffee pot for diners with 3 or more coffee drinkers at the table. The restaurant ran out of fruit. The tray was never replaced for the remainder of our meal. The restaurant really needed another cook to handle the omelette orders. The French toast that was supposed to be made with Rumchata custard was severely lacking. It was French toast; nothing special. Pastries were out of a package. This brunch was $20.00 per person. Nicole, our server was great. The hostess should do something else besides greet people. Your staffing is not the customers problem. We brought 4 students down here for a congratulatory outing. Really thought the food could have been better with trays replenished as needed and more wait staff. Is hostess supposed to be helpful, friendly and professional? If I had not had guests with me, I would have left.
Our service was outstanding, meal came out super quick and very tasty. Always packed so making a reservation at Open Table is a great idea.
