We got there for the happy hour and was pleasantly surprised by the menu!!!!
I heard good reviews and was excited to try this place out for my birthday. I wish I would have checked the menu beforehand because I didn’t really like the options. The value just wasn’t there, my brother order the burger and there were only a handful of fries, 11 to be exact. I ordered the scallops and risotto. It was just ok. Maybe this place is cool for lunch or happy hour type things. But dinner is a no. The service was really good though so I won’t knoc them for that.
I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. This is my second time dining at Granite City and I was once again pleased. The only thing I suggest is do not create two-person seating by using part of a booth, table and chair. The seating is way too low and makes for an awkward time with eating. Otherwise great place.
Alex our server did a great job on a very busy night. Food is very good however if you are looking for a quiet dining experience, this is not the place. High energy and very busy ....but it was a Saturday Night.
We used to come here all the time. In fact I even hosted my husband's birthday a couple years ago there. Unfortunately, the ambiance has changed quite a bit from when we used to visit. It took awhile for us to be served. The music and noise level in the restaurant has increased. The music at one point was very inappropriate for a family dining experience at 4pm. We felt like we were walking into a club. The food was mediocre. The burger with pulled pork had big pieces of fat that needed to be removed. The salad had more lettuce than toppings. The boneless wings had a thick breading. Finally the bacon on the Bedda Chedda Burger was limp. All the while, the manager was sitting across from us in a booth eating her dinner for a good 20 minutes and had noticed it took awhile for us to be served. Never came by and asked about our experience or anything. As mug jug members we were very disappointed and we won't be returning. It really went downhill.
Soup good-Meatloaf poor-wine glass dity-waiter nice. Not really a fan of the place
It was really loud. We sat in a booth and could not hear each other over the sound.
Great craft beers, the pork nachos ap was killer. Thanks to the other reviews on the shrimp tacos. They were right! Just order them you will be happy (if you like a little spicy). Even the chocolate cake we took to go was very good. Waiter and staff top noch.
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I will eat there again.
Good food, good beer. Only downside was waitress didn't come check to see if food was alright. I ordered rare, had rare pic in it, but was well done, no pink. Ate half of it anyway. Never came back except to bring check.
Service exceptional by our waitress Anna. Recommended better growler choice. Offered samples. Demonstrated beer knowledge, said my original choice was a nitro beer, which would go flat in a day. Labeled take home, included extra sauce. I am a regular, best waitress so far.
Met a friend who I hadn’t seen in a year. We told our server, Michael, we wanted a leisurely lunch and he couldn’t have been better. He kept an eye on us but didn’t rush us. We had a great experience. There are great choices on the menu for sharing. Flat breads are really good! Go here and ask for Michael! We also met Ben...so nice to see a restaurant where the employees care about each other because that comes across in their service to customers.
Five of us went out to dinner. We had a wonderful dining experience. The food and service were both great. We will definitely go back!
The Easter brunch was not very good. The ham was tough and full of grizzle. For 6 people we were put into a booth that did not give us room to move. We felt rushed and did not enjoy our experience at Granite City!
We very much enjoyed our Easter brunch buffet!! We were seated immediately upon arrival. The food was extremely tasty and there was a good variety. The roasted turkey just fell apart with firm and didn't need to be cut! The dessert bar was to die for!! Highly recommend this restaurant for special events and also is a great place for a lunch or dinner out!!
Food was Great. Service was outstanding. We didn't have to wait to get our table.
Went there for Easter brunch and it was amazing! Wonderful food options, great service, and fun mimosas. Can't wait to go next Easter and for just a regular meal.
The environment was very noisy; noisier than usual. The server must have been new as it was hard to hear him, and he was not as attentive as the staff usually is.
Always Great food and service..
You really impressed me when our server not only brought our check but she brought 2 warm chocolate chip cookie w/vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel for my husband and son for their birthdays (we were to full for desert).
Not enough of non-meat selections for dinner or lunch.
We went for Troy restaurant week. I looked at the menu beforehand and saw they had sea bass on the menu. They told us they ran out so I ordered the fish and chips. They were good, however there was much more breading than fish. My husband ordered the meatloaf, said it was very good. Our waiter was great!
Service was excellent. Restaurant was filled to capacity but I was seated immediately. Thanks to reservations. Food was great. No complaints whatsoever. Definitely will visit again.
Different menu that we enjoyed. Noise level made it difficult to hear each other. Décor was appealing. Would go again
Ran out of Sea Bass and Red Velvet Waffle Cake. Drinks were good, service odd.
Everything was great, except...
I made a reservation for 2, not sure if it would be necessary. They seated us at a large, half-round booth table for 6+ people, even though there were many tables for two open. My mom and I sat 5-6 feet away from each other and didn’t talk the whole meal because we would have had to yell to be heard. We just stared at each other.
Half of our party was seated and after 30 minutes we still hadn't heard from our remaining party. We went to the front and found the rest of our party. The hostess stated that our party had yet to be seated. This looked extremely unprofessional for a business meeting.
Went for restaurant week. Food was very good. Had crab cake (not available on menu) and ribeye steak. Both were excellent. Why serve crab cakes that are not on menu, especially when I would have come back for them alone?
We made a reservation for a specific day and time and then we arrived they informed us it would be a 30 minute wait. What’s the point of taking a reservation if you can’t keep it.
Food choices were OK.
Not many healthy items.
We ordered the Asian chicken salad and bison burger..food quality was very good
I was disappointed with my experience at Granite City. The service slow, as it seemed they were understaffed. Craft beer was ok, food was average, fries were served at room temperature, overall nothing special
I would like to give my explanation for a review of two stars. We chose Granite City because the Northville location is consistently good for lunch. Sunday’s to me are a crap shoot dining out, understaffed, those who are there are wiped out from Friday and Saturday night etc, but we tried because it was my dads 75th Birthday. Our server was good, you could tell he was newer and did his absolute best to serve our table and never faultered. It was clear the restaurant was understaffed and very busy. We went to the bar ourself to correct one of drink orders after waiting far too long and notified the staff that our server could use a hand, being in the restaurant business, we felt bad for him. No one came to assist. Our food came out lukewarm-cold, we did not send it back because of the long wait and it was all eight covers like the heat lamp was out. Probably would not return to this location in particular, like I stated, the Northville location is speedy and consistent for corporate lunches. Coffee and drinks were good but 7.95 for the House Salad is ridiculous. Props to our server for trying his best throughout the dining experience. Thank you.
Love the atmosphere, it's always bustling, the food is solid though s but pricey but a place already noisy really doesn't need the music to be as loud as it is, especially on a weeknight.
Good food, good service. Reservation was for 4 but we had an additional person show up. The hostess was very accommodating and was able to seat us. Would definitely recommend.
We also liked that we did not get the bill right after finishing our food. We were not pressured to leave even though it was getting close to closing time.
We come here often. Was alittle bothered with waiting 35 minutes and we had an open table. We've never had to wait before. Once we were seated everything was good. I think they should do a better job of making sure your open table reservations take priority.
A very busy restaurant... glad we made reservations. The service was great and the food was very good. My only complaint would be how loud it is . It is difficult to have a conversation at a normal volume...even away from the bar in the dining area.
The food is always good, and the service was excellent. But we ordered two "Bennies". They seemed to be very carbonated; not as smooth as usual. Plus they were out of Oatmeal Stout. Still, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Had a great time. The staff was fantastic, quick service, prompt & friendly. The food was very good, we had a variety from the happy hour & regular menus. The beer is great samples several.
