We source the finest, sustainable & local ingredients to create handcrafted food & beverages.
We are the first restaurant to partner in Washington, D.C. with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program, ensuring safe and environmentally friendly seafood as part of our cuisine. Our setting is unmatched and the best casual, neighborhood dining in the West End. The bar is ornately decorated with massive mirrors, large columns and a multitude of glowing candles. These, along with the open kitchen where flames leap from the grill, create a warmth and intimacy in a casual atmosphere.
A $3 per person fee for desserts brought from outside will be applied to the check. Outdoor seating cannot be reserved. Reservations can be confirmed over the phone or through OpenTable. Unconfirmed reservations may be considered canceled and tables will only be held for 10 minutes. Reservations for 6 or more need to be made by calling the restaurant and require a credit card.

Service was personable and efficient though we weren't given the table of our choice even though we had booked. My wife ordered and enjoyed the crab cake but overall the entre food quality experience was poor. I ordered the local oysters and the catch of the day snapper and both were tasteless.

The food was excellent except for the dinner rolls. While roles are the least important part of the meal, one bad thing item can spoil a meal. The roles were barely warm and were so dry you could hardly chew them. The fish was great however, and we did enjoy everything else.

Our group arrived early but the hostess was happy to seat us. Our server was great, the food was delicious. We sat and chatted (and enjoyed delicious -- and reasonably priced -- bottles of wine, and never felt rushed. A fantastic evening.

                                                                                                      This is a delightful restaurant, both decor and atmosphere are whimsical and interesting. We could actually hear each other at the table. The service was outstanding. We had the salmon and the rockfish and both were excellent. The grilled rockfish was the best fish dish I have had in a long time. We took carrot cake to go and ate it back at the hotel. So good!

Both were fresh and delicious. We also order the seafood skewers with the coconut-curry sauce and sauteed spinach. The portions were nice. It is a nice place to consider if you are near embassy row and want something good to eat.

                                                                                                      We are friends from grad school, many of whom work/live abroad, grabbing opportunities for brunch or dinner whenever one comes into town. But our jobs can make for last minute changes in counts, people arriving/departing and still ordering dinner when others are finishing dessert. And we may be a bit noisy, discussing work and families and world events. My challenge is finding restaurants that handle sophisticated palates, excellent quality, true vegans amidst carnivores — and have a waitstaff that won’t crumble. GrillFish is one of my favs for all of the above, or a quiet meal for two. Thanks for giving us a great mini-reunion last night! (Last tip — the Key Lime pie is always delicious but the coconut sorbet is frozen bliss.)

                                                                                                      This place was amazing! We sat at the bar and our bartender, Ryan, was so cool and nice. He mixed specialty drinks for us. He clearly loved his job because he was very enthusiastic and made the experience fun. We got the classic fried calamari which were battered in a delicious batter. We also got 6 raw oysters which were plump and delicious. My wife had the trout and I had the branzino. Both were grilled perfectly. And the dessert was the caramel cheesecake brûlée which was out of this world! We would definitely come back and highly recommend Grillfish DC.

                                                                                                      We have been going to this restaurant almost once a week for several months. Food has always been good and service friendly until my partner got sick twice after having eaten there. We reported it to the manager who said it may be oysters as they are raw and they could not take any responsibility. When we went back Friday night, the manager refused to serve me oysters although it was only my partner who reported being sick. We stayed at the restaurant as it was late to find another place and they ended up paying the check. The poor waitress who was excellent and friendly would not have received a tip if we had not given her one in cash. This is the first time a restaurant is holding us responsible for being sick and refuses to serve a meal of our choice.                                                                                                       We thoroughly enjoyed our time at GrillFish. Our waiter, Chris was attentive, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The food was delicious, especially the oysters and crab cakes.
