   Staff was the best. Knowledgeable and professional. Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful beers, food was good. My salad was very good. I was hoping for duck, or trout. Not on the menu. Lighter food would be nice. It’s a great place to go with family. For a work event or date night. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try Austrian or German food. Great location in Downtown Kansas City.

   First time dining here. Food was good, but not great. I think the prices are higher than what the food quality and what you get should be. My husband had the goulash and it was fine, nothing spectacular. I had the paprika schnitzel and it was good but not spectacular. I was expecting more taste and flavor because of the prices and what I have heard but did not experience that. Our waiter was odd but he was very attentive and did a fine job. We didn't have dessert because of prices. We experienced Grunauer but probably won't be back.

   I was a repeat diner, treating out-of-town guests and family to the Gruaeuer experience. They were blown away! From the beautiful interior, wonderful service thanks to Lucas, the outstanding meal and then dessert, everyone left happy, and so full we were all on the verge of uncomfortable. I highly recommend!!!!

   Every time we go we remember why it is our favorite place in KC. The ambience is great. The food is always impeccable. The service staff is on a whole different level. The entire experience is enjoyable. This visit was no different.

   Lucas was outstanding - attentive and courteous. Food was wonderful - flavorful and well-balanced. We tried some new things since our last visit and we’re not disappointed one bit, except that we did not leave room for dessert. Always a highlight experience for us when in KC.     Wonderful food. If you have overlooked the house made ice cream, don't! So creamy and vanilla like none we have ever had. Wait-staff, friendly, and attentive.

    Love this place. If you like Austrian food (which reminds me of German-like food) you’ll love it! The red cabbage is my favorite! Coffee at the end is a must!

    The waitress made a great selection for a glass of white wine for the salmon croquettes and arugula risotto appetizer. It was a large portion and nice combination of flavors. My beef flatiron steak was very tender and delicious with gravy and vegetables. My sons veal and spatzle was great as it always is! Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

    My husband had a veal schnitzel that was very dry. We were disappointed when the apple strudel with cream came to the table not warmed up. The server says that it always comes cold and that you have to ask to have it heated. It had been our past experience that it would come heated. We were sad to see that the gratuitous bread basket had been stopped, along with a flight of aiolis to go with our pomfrets. The quality has decreased over the years. So sad to see.

    Overall a good experience. Out of bread on a Saturday night at 7 pm. ?? Mother’s Day weekend. Place was busy and very loud. Our waiter was good. Food was tasty- our table was too small for the amount of food we ordered! 😉

    Just an excellent first time experience. The food was like at home in Austria. The server was very polished. The beers and Austrian wine choices were superb. The deserts were over the top although a Sacher Torte would be a nice addition. Overall, it was a five star experience for the four of us. Thank you.

    Always enjoy eating here. The food is top-rate, the service is on par with the food and the wait-staff are very knowledgeable about the items on the menu, even able to make suggestions on appropriate wine or beer to compliment the dinner.

    I live 70 miles from Grunauer and have driven that far just to have dinner. Grunauer is a KC jewel. Top marks all around and the best draft German beer selection imaginable.

    We have loved this restaurant since the day it opened. It gets better all the time with an evolving menu, bringing life and interest into these old favorite German dishes. The salad containing beets and goat cheese among other things was an instant hit. Service is impeccable!

    Food and ambience was excellent! We split an entree, it was a ton of food so prepare for leftovers or share with someone. Definitely get the bread, we had the rest of it the next morning for breakfast we loved it so much. Everything we had was superb. Our waitress was fantastic and made an espresso martini for me even though it wasn't on the menu. If you're in Kansas City you MUST GO!

    Fantastic experience all around! Our server was delightful and we seriously suspected him of having ESP, he was so presciently able to anticipate our needs before we even asked. A lovely human! Dinner was spectacular, as aways. We are normally bar patrons at Grunauer (because the bartenders there are *so* bomb) but sitting in the gorgeous dining room was a fun departure from our cozy routine.
