   Absolutely fantastic place. We had a lovely time and ordered a lot of good food, including karaage, sushi, and tacos. All were very flavourful and made with expertise. The drinks were also excellent, we got the Manhattan and the elderflower/lavender drink--both were splendid! The ambience with quite nice as well. I would highly recommend Hapa Izakaya.

   I loved it and everyone I came with enjoyed themselves. Music was on point Rae, our server was an absolute delight and was swift with everything. I actually wish their menu was longer because there is so much stuff I would have tried.

   It's ambiance, it's service, it's an amazing variety of shooters & cocktails, it's keeping everything a little Japanese while being sure to have the playful fusions that come with Tapas territory, it's the right prices for happy hour with incredible value, and it is above all a GREAAAAAAAAAT TIME!!!! Can't thank the staff enough for making my friends birthday such a joy (& a bit more blurry at parts), they've truly taken this place up-a-notch from after 11 years in business and it shows. Thank you so much Steven (hope I got the spelling right), I will definitely be back soon! *And this is a 48 hrs later review so you know I'm still thinking about the food...

   Hapa is one my favourite restaurants in the city for a number of reasons. The food is exceptional. My favourite menu items are the ebi mayo and the karaage. They use actual crab meat in their rolls which is very unique. The service is always outstanding. Steven is always a pleasure to deal with and makes sure to go above and beyond. The atmosphere is great. They have a DJ on weekends. It’s a go to spot of mine and will remain as such.

   I had an amazing experience at Hapa celebrating my mom's birthday on a Sunday night! Every dish we tried was exceptional, everything was so fresh, and the presentation was great. I had only noted on the reservation through Open Table that we were celebrating a birthday. After we ordered drinks and had a few appetizers, they brought over the cutest pink vodka shooters and after we finished dinner, they brought out a tiramisu with a lit candle so we could sing Happy Birthday to mom, all without us even asking! The servers were so genuine and kind. Food, service, experience, 12/10. We will be back!

    All the staff, host, servers, chef and kitchen people (who are open to the standard seating section) were incredibly and amazingly warm, friendly, nice, checking in just the right amount of time…and the food was OUTSTANDING. We had the chicken karaage, soo juicy and tasty, the broccoli dish was done to just the right crispness, the king of the ocean roll is probably the best special roll I have experienced…we don’t normally do desert, but the matcha tiramisu—if you love matcha, it was incredible—not too sweet so we didn’t leave feeling heavy from dessert it was instead the perfect button to the meal. We will definitely be going back—there was so much selection, and we are excited to taste more of the menu

    Hapa Izakaya never seems to disappoint. The tapas style dining is a great way to socialize and enjoy the company of your friends, date and/or family. The combinations of flavours and ingredients are always pleasing, and creative. There is something for everyone with all dietary needs to enjoy and their seafood is Ocean Wise certified. The staff is friendly, attentive and genuinely warm. Can't get enough!

    I love Asian fusion food, however my hubby does not, so Hapa Izakaya was the perfect compromise. They serve traditional Japanese bar food (Japanese tapas) with a modern twist, but not overly fusion. Our favorite dish of the night was the Salmon Yukke. The service was excellent and we loved the bamboo sake recommendation...so cool! I would love to come back to try out more dishes!

    I held my birthday dinner there last Friday and I had an amazing time! We did do the set menu since we had a party of 15. It was still great because there was 12 dishes that allowed all my guests to try a variety of their dishes. The service was phenomenal and I would highly recommend anyone to dine there!     I went for the Hapa Hour on a Saturday. Service was excellent. The wine selection was extensive. There were many interesting and yummy items on the Hapa Hour menu. Would prefer more choices of non-fried food items though. We had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again. They also have a $40 11-course fixe prix menu including tax and gratuity. We are interested in trying it out next time.

    Love this place. Took a group of colleagues here on a Wednesday night, which happened to be cheap beer night, and we polished off a couple of pitchers of Blanche de Chambly while tasting dish after dish of happiness! Don't miss the prawns (perfectly cooked!), the tuna sashimi (best I've ever had), and the lobster (normally I can do without - but it was amazing!). This is my third time at Hapa and love it every time.

    Wonderful service coupled with innovative menu at reasonable prices (unlike some other places in Toronto.) Lovely staff and delicious lobster roll. They go out of their way to make dinner an event. Only suggestion would be to ditch the TVs on non-big-game-nights. You're not a sports bar - you're a hot date spot with amazing food!

    I had visited Hapa in Vancouver in 2 locations, so I thought I'd want to give this one a try. My boyfriend and I had the Salmon Yukke, Tuna Avocado Salsa Dip, Scallop Tartare, Fish Tacos, and Chipotle Beef Curry Ishi-Yaki. We were pretty filled after those dishes, but please remember that this is an izakaya, so don't expect huge portions. They're meant to be like tapas to enjoy while you sip on some sake. Our favourite was the Tuna Avocado Salsa Dip; they give you plenty of plantain chips to go with the salsa and the salsa is very flavourful. Everything else was also really enjoyable, although I've had better Salmon Yukke and Scallop Tartare elsewhere. Fish tacos were a little boring, I was expecting raw fish, but got battered fish instead.

    first time visit. Loved the food, great izakaya menu, and not as noisy/energeting as some others (like Guu). Those can be fun sometimes - but sometimes you want to enjoy your meal with out staff screaming out orders, hellos and goodbyes every five minutes. Foie Gras sushi is a must try. We had a variety of dishes for the four of us and everything was beautiful and tasty. will def go again.

    This restaurant has a great selection of japanese pub style food, and everything is fresh and ready quickly. Certain items are half-price for "hapa-hour' 5:30-6:30, making the restaurant much more affordable! The service is perfect and the owners and servers are incredibly friendly.     We first arrived to the resraurant to find the music blaring. It felt as if we were in a night club. The food was overpriced and the waitress never smiled. At last, I went to the ladies room only to find the toilet door was not opening completely and jammed in the toilet. I had to climb onto the toilet in order to get in the stall.
