Great food, beautiful setting. Highly recommend! We go every year on our anniversary, and on other special dates
Host and service was perfect, treated us very well for our anniversary. Will definitely be coming back
Wonderful experience! Food, wine & ambience was amazing. Particularly, our server Monica was absolutely amazing. Will come back over and over!
Had a lovely time. Some mosquitoes on the patio, but I don't expect that can be helped.
*Loved* the salads and appetizers, the entrees were ok. Dessert was delicious.
Amazing once again. This place never fails when it comes to the flavour and quality of its dishes. Super friendly service, other than a slight hiccup with a drink order, otherwise great. Will continue to keep The Hart House I’m my personal top 5 restaurants 👍🏻
Great food and service. Historic setting with a lovely bright atmosphere and homey atmosphere with a beautiful view of the lake.
We had a lovely lunch at Hart House. We sat outside, the weather and environment was lovely, the service was great, and all of our meals were excellent. Thank you!
Hi Amrit, Thank you for the positive 5 stars all around as well as the positive feedback on your experience. Looking forward to your next visit. Enjoy the sunny long weekend. Edwyn Kumar, Operations Manager
Being vegetarians, we found only one lunch option- panini sandwich. That's my only gripe. Otherwise place is great with friendly staff.
Hi Kalashn, Thanks for the positive review on Service and Ambience. The Vegetarian Panini is our sandwich option for vegetarians. We do also have our salads which can be modified, two vegetarian soups, Beet Hummus starter and the Calabrian Pasta and Risotto from the pasta and grains section. Let us know when you're coming next and we can make something unique for you also. Regards, Edwyn Kumar, Operations Manager
Excellent food and service
Thank your for the 4 star reviews and positive words regarding food and service.
I have enjoyed many delicious lunches but on 25th July 2019 the halibut was hard hard. I asked for lightly cooked but it was not. Should have sent it back.
Hi Jorie, Thanks for the feedback regarding the Halibut and specifics of why you were disappointed with the dish. We're glad the others areas didn't let you down with 5 stars in both service and ambience and I'll happily take your next reservation personally to ensure we cook your fish to perfection. Cheers, Edwyn Kumar, Operations Manager
This is a beautiful place to meet for a meal. It is set in an old home in the middle of the park. The waiters were very polite and capable. We enjoyed the food, however found the choices in the menu to be somewhat limited. Overall though a great setting to meet with friends.
Once again, the Hart House has exceeded expectations. Excellent service, beautifully presented, delicious food and a peaceful view from an outdoor table looking down the grassy slope to Deer Lake, with music playing softly in the background. There is no restaurant setting that compares. Worth the drive from where ever you live!
Hi Nanci, Thank you for the glowing review. We look forward to your next visit and appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Regards, Edwyn Kumar, Operations Manager
Res for bday. No treat. Hostess said did you ask server. In past weren't expected to ask if acknowledging at arrival. soup arrived no spoon. had to ask several times for ordered drink
Hi Leona, Accept our apologies for missing your birthday. Normally we would place a candle in the dessert that is ordered by the guest of honour. We host many occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, graduations) and do our best to acknowledge them. We of course don't purchase desserts for everyone. Perhaps that was done as a special treat for you excusively in the past. We'll follow up with the team to ensure that that drink order times are quicker. Regards, Edwyn Kumar, Operations Manager
We have been coming for years, mostly for lunch. There was a time a few years back when the menu was uninspiring. The last few lunches however have been stunning; a whole new menu. Now I would like to have you work on your dessert menu. Nothing wrong with old fashioned desserts that are are actually worth $12.
We had such a special meal here. My friend is battling cancer and has so many food restrictions she has a difficult time going to restaurants. But the chef at Hart House made a special meal for her and we had a great meal. Thank you so much for the wonderful gesture.
Always one of our favorite places to dine out for a special occasion. The food and service is always exceptional. The chefs really know what they’re doing in there!
Lovely. Wonderful, attentive, friendly service. Generous portions for a upscale restaurant. On point cooking - the chef skillfully brings out the natural flavours of the food. I come all the way from Richmond, so we save this place for special occasions!
We enjoyed fine food and excellent service. We had the fixed price 3 course dinner and recommended wine. We were able to have an evening of conversation without blaring music.
Here again for our anniversary loved it again, 18 years and counting, had our wedding reception here so coming once a year is a great treat and special reminder
Very lovely and enchanting. Feels like your eating in the early 1900s
I love the ambiance. The food is good and nicely presented. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I have eaten here several times and have no reservations recommending it to others.
A great place to relax and parking is free.
The restaurant is very nice, service was very good. Food overall was just OK. I had the eggs benny and to be honest I've had better at local cafe's. I found it over priced for what we got.
I VERY LIKE IT, IT HAVE NICE SERVICE, FOOD AND BEAUTIFUL ENVIROMENT.
Had an Xmas dinner years back an was extremely disappointed with dinner and service. Having said that this 50 th anniversary dinner was very good . However when desert was ordered the hazel nut tort was very slow in arriving and and not worth the wait .All in all we enjoyed the dinner and the ambiance for our 50th and would return for our 51st.
We went there on Father’s Day. Maybe it was busy or short on staff. They had made multiple mistakes: 1) gave wrong drink 2) they totally forgot the appetizers and did not even know it until we asked for them 3) one of the dishes was overcooked (burned actually) so we had send it back 4) never asked how we were doing so we did not get a chance to refill water or coffee. The manager acknowledged the burned dish and came to apologize. Otherwise, there was no compensation for all these mistakes. The quality of food was below average. We could get much better quality from some waffle cafes in downtown. It was a very disappointing experience at Hart House.
Simply for the setting. Food is average, service can be good with some staff and very average with others. But a relaxing brunch setting is very nice.
Very lovely location. The service and food was very good. Would return again.
We got married at the Hart House five years ago and return every year for our anniversary. This restaurant is incredible from the ambiance to the food. They always write "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plate, and make us feel special. Love this place and will always return!
Amazing dinner in an idealic setting by the lake. Friendly staff and the chef is amazing. We had the bass feature of the night as an entree and it was one of the best meals I have had out in some time.
Had a great lunch with our friend, we have been there several times and am looking forward
to my 90th birthday party in Sept, I know that we will be welcomed and helped. Thank you'
This is a magical place and always a favourite! The food, ambiance and service is too notch.
Service was great and food was outstanding! Portions were generous and flavours were on point. They made sure to make the occasion feel special.
The value in what you get vs what you pay is definitely not there. 32$ for lamb moussaka and its 4 small bites of meat and a bit of zucchini. I left hungry. Service was decent and the atmosphere is nice. Ticked off the visit from the bucket list but I would not go back.

A memorable celebration of my birthday. Outdoor location was beautiful, service was prompt and attentive, food was delicious, well flavored, and in ideally sized portions. It’s now on our list of places for celebratory occasions.
The food is superb. The chef definitely knows how to cook seafood as I had the scallops and my husband had halibut. We were both very impressed. It was our first visit so can’t talk about the other offerings. The service was very good, waiter had perfect timing to look after us. Very friendly staff. It is beautiful with a great view Deer Lake.
Food was good, service was efficient, and noise level was less than we usually get elsewhere but more than the very low level we would have were we the bosses of the universe.
I wanted to bring my friend somewhere special for her 65th birthday and the Hart House was perfect in every way! We came for a late lunch and were pleased to have a quiet charming room with a view of the lake. All the staff were attentive and gracious. The only thing better was the cuisine! The food was spectacular and we savoured each bite. We split a kale salad and both ordered the wild mushroom and asparagus risotto pasta. The wild mushrooms were plentiful and had delicately flavoured the dish way beyond my already high expectations. Go yourself and enjoy this gem of a restaurant - you will be glad you did. Cheers
The best part was the setting. The restaurant is quiet, so it is possible to hear what is being said at the table. The service was very friendly and competent, and the food was very tasty. I think the only fault I could find was with my dessert; the hazelnut tart did not have the flavour of hazelnut, and was a bit tough. But I intend to go back many times.
