Very lovely location. The service and food was very good. Would return again.
We got married at the Hart House five years ago and return every year for our anniversary. This restaurant is incredible from the ambiance to the food. They always write "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plate, and make us feel special. Love this place and will always return!
Amazing dinner in an idealic setting by the lake. Friendly staff and the chef is amazing. We had the bass feature of the night as an entree and it was one of the best meals I have had out in some time.
This is a magical place and always a favourite! The food, ambiance and service is too notch.
Service was great and food was outstanding! Portions were generous and flavours were on point. They made sure to make the occasion feel special.
The value in what you get vs what you pay is definitely not there. 32$ for lamb moussaka and its 4 small bites of meat and a bit of zucchini. I left hungry. Service was decent and the atmosphere is nice. Ticked off the visit from the bucket list but I would not go back.

A memorable celebration of my birthday. Outdoor location was beautiful, service was prompt and attentive, food was delicious, well flavored, and in ideally sized portions. It’s now on our list of places for celebratory occasions.
The food is superb. The chef definitely knows how to cook seafood as I had the scallops and my husband had halibut. We were both very impressed. It was our first visit so can’t talk about the other offerings. The service was very good, waiter had perfect timing to look after us. Very friendly staff. It is beautiful with a great view Deer Lake.
Food was good, service was efficient, and noise level was less than we usually get elsewhere but more than the very low level we would have were we the bosses of the universe.
I wanted to bring my friend somewhere special for her 65th birthday and the Hart House was perfect in every way! We came for a late lunch and were pleased to have a quiet charming room with a view of the lake. All the staff were attentive and gracious. The only thing better was the cuisine! The food was spectacular and we savoured each bite. We split a kale salad and both ordered the wild mushroom and asparagus risotto pasta. The wild mushrooms were plentiful and had delicately flavoured the dish way beyond my already high expectations. Go yourself and enjoy this gem of a restaurant - you will be glad you did. Cheers
The best part was the setting. The restaurant is quiet, so it is possible to hear what is being said at the table. The service was very friendly and competent, and the food was very tasty. I think the only fault I could find was with my dessert; the hazelnut tart did not have the flavour of hazelnut, and was a bit tough. But I intend to go back many times.
We are always impressed with the chef’s innovative dishes! The pineapple gazpacho was so creative and delicious! I ordered the morel mushrooms stuffed with duck confit atop a pea infused risotto - not only beautiful to look at but so tasty! The view of the lake added another special touch!
Great setting with wonderful views. Quiet on the weeknight we visited. Really enjoyed the three course special. Well presented with some interesting combinations and very tasty. Dessert especially was outstanding.
The ambience is beautiful and the service is excellent. I recommend Hart House for celebrating special occasions.
Lovely ambiance. Great food and service
Great food, really good service too. Always love Hart House
Very nice setting and friendly customer service. Will visit again.
Seven of us went on a Thursday night when you'd thing there'd be no quality loss but the service was atrocious (staff looked unkempt, seemed unhappy, were not knowledgeable of the menu or wine list, the mains (which they've offered forever - how about a refresh?) were mediocre for the price (my lamb was tough and flavorless) but deserts and appies were OK; it's a beautiful venue in a nice setting but why do nice places think they can cruise on that alone?
My family and I love going to Hart House because food, service, atmosphere...everything is excellent.
One of the best kept secrets in town.
On the positive side, our lamb and beef dishes were both excellent, along with our off menu starter of scallops.
On the off side, our favorite waiter has moved on, and they've changed the menu, damn!
Updated menu is very good.
Everything was perfect except all the dead flies on the window beside us at the table. We were given a glad of champagne for our wedding anniversary and decorative writing congratulating us on our desserts. The charcuterie was amazing!! I highly recommend.
I had never been there and was a little nervous as the reviews go both ways but all three of us had an excellent meal. The Pineapple gazpacho was different but so refreshing. The Sturgeon was excellent as well as the Prawn and Scallop entree.
If I lived closer I would definitely return as we all felt the food, atmosphere and service was excellent.
They are just simply the best. Great food and excellent service. Love it!
No TV, no loud music, tables are spaced apart enough that conversation is easy even though it was busy. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was very good.
Have not dined at Hart House in awhile, amazingly surprised.
My new favorite place for great prepared food.
Great food and service!
Lovely impromptu dinner with Mom at the end of a hectic Sunday.
Great value for the impeccable food, attentive, friendly and engaging service, and gorgeous view.
Everyone should come and enjoy!
My husband and I went to Hart House Restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We were greeted with the host acknowledging our anniversary. We were asked to wait for a couple of minutes so we can get seated at one of their nicest tables. It was a really nice spot. We ordered from their three course menu and we were quite impressed by everything we ate! Servers made the evening extra special with very polished service. We are already talking about going back on my birthday!
Just a wonderful place to be. Great service and old world charm when you don't want to be stunned by hype.
We come back here every year on our anniversary (and other times as well) We have always had outstanding service. The menu changes and I like to try meals that I wouldn’t make at home. The duck confit was just as the server described. Delicious. A very special place for us. We’ve never been disappointed
Very nice view of the lake
The host was very polite in receiving us. The waiter was nice too but he got my order wrong. He felt bad about it and shyly asked if I wanted another plate but I just let it slide. The person who brought our food to the table was always in a rush, never once asked if we needed anything else. She just left the food and turned around so fast. We had to flag them for fresh pepper.
Overall the food was good, I had seafood sphagettini and my friend had steak. Nice ambience, especially for special occasion.
There should be a system to monitor customers. Folks at table in the sun room where we were dining were playing U tube, were loud laughter etc; very inappropriate for a fine dining evening. Thus the noise level was such we couldn’t converse at our table, causing us to speak to them re their inappropriate behaviour.
Food satisfying but for our friends when ordering tenderloin we expected potatoes. Also, seasonal vegetables were sparse and rather unappetizing.
Service was great. Manager and server very attentive.
Excellent food & fantastic service. Beautiful setting and a great place for a special occasion. Will be back!
One of our favorite places to eat for special occasions but the kitchen was a bit off this night resulting in my steak being over cooked and having to be sent back. The manager tried to make it right after to her credit but the meal was ackward
Great moderate priced lunch. We were surprised at the menu prices. Very reasonable....
The restaurant is in an elegant heritage house, with a lovely decor, overlooking Deer Lake. We enjoyed the ambiance of being seated in the sun room on this sunny day. Service was excellent & attentive from the time we stepped in to the time we left. The server seemed to know whenever the water glasses needed to be refilled. The food was tasty, cooked perfectly, and plated nicely. It was a great dining experience and we would definitely return.
