Great selection and flavors. We enjoyed the quaint and quiet setting in the old house. We had a nice walk by the lake after dinner. Service was very attentive and friendly.
Thoroughly enjoyed the captivating view of Deer Lake while dining at this lovely old mansion! Amazing food, ambience and service.
The Hart House makes you feel like home. Comfortable and friendly staff. The menu never disappoints me.
Dinner there for mother’s day. Food was good. Service was ok. The only thing was too hot inside. Should have got outside table would be much nicer.
We went for mothers day brunch and it was great food and a beautiful day so lovely spot with doors open and the view of the lake behind the restaurant. It was a little expensive for a brunch but there were alot of options, even for my brother who is vegan so still impressed and would do again for a special occasion.
Very good service, great view, a real gem in Burnaby
First time and loved it! Service was amazing and food delicious! Will be back again soon!
Being our 20yr Anniversary, I thought a return to where we were married would be a wonderful way to celebrate.
The day could not have been more enjoyable, the food, weather, and ambiance was just as I had remembered.
Highly recommend the Hart House, will definitely be back.
Haven't been to hh in a while. Food is better than ever, same great service and same setting at deer lake. It's a special place. Must go more often.
Excellent table, flavourful food and we were not interrupted by the staff - and that's a true treat these days
I think it is over priced and over rated. No one raved about the food we ate despite they were being treated. I ordered a fish dish which had so much sauce on it I was wondering if they were trying to disquise stale fish. We did have tiny bowl of complimmentary soup that was very good.
The service was good.
Visited Hart House after several years. It has a special place in our memories and was good to be back. The lunch menu was limited but caters well to all tastes.
Lovely spot especially in summer. Very low noise level and widely spaced tables. Excellent for a business lunch or dinner. Equally excellent for a romantic dinner.
Absolute best! Got married three years ago there and went back for our anniversary and got treated so special!!!! Staff is amazing and makes you feel like family. Food is insanely delicious, drinks are made perfectly. Such a great experience always
My aunt took my friend and I for birthday brunch. It was both our birthdays. The service was great and the food was delicious. Could taste the freshness.
After our meal our server asked whose birthday it was and came out with two mini muffins on a plate that said Happy Birthday in chocolate. Nice surprise.
Will definately return.
Worth every penny, the Hart House is a lovely place to go for a nice dinner or lunch. The food is well prepared with consideration for providing to your exact instructions. I ordered my steak pink but not red in the middle. For some, this is medium, for others this is medium well. Whatever it is to the chef, it was absolutely perfect. This is a treasure in Burnaby; it is expensive, but once it a while it is so worth it.
A lovely Easter lunch with my mother and husband. Service was attentive. Enough variety on the menu without being overwhelming. Food arrived promptly was nicely presented. Will continue to return.
The Servers were polite & helpful with aiding our selection for food & wine. I really appreciated how quickly the food was served and how personable our Server was.
The food was excellent, beautifully presented and generous portions for fine food dining. The waiter was great with our old guest, very good with helping us select the right wine and generally made the entire evening very special. From the moment they took our coats to when they walked us to the door it was superb!
Great food and service and ambience... food did come out a little slow but worth it
Every thing great but noise at larger tables
The manager is very hands on, the waiter was very friendly, and the food was good.
Excellent customer service and delicious food
Service 2nd to none! Awesome all around!
Great restaurant and great atmosphere. The food was exceptional and the service was top notch.
As always, this glorious restaurant pleases. The friend I brought, had never been there before and she was more than thrilled with the whole experience.
Amazing meal! We went early on a Friday night and it was nice and quiet. Service was excellent, food was amazing. We will be going back!
Great place, deliciuse food and good service. It's such nice treat to be in a place where people can talk and hear each other...
Such a lovely place to go. Deffintly highly recommend.
The service and the food were all as expected. The atmosphere is such that the rooms are quiet so no one has to shout to be heard. A pleasant place to dine.
We we're celebrating my wife's entry Hood to becoming a civilian, she's formerly military. So this was going to be something we have both never done before. And without a doubt it was incredible! An amazing experience, and our server was beyond amazing. I have absolutely nothing negative about the place, or service. My only issue comes from the price. For what we had, it seemed... Steep. And I mean very steep. We decided on the shared meal. Which means we have the choice of a salad or something pork thing, then the main was one steak with some potatoes and mushrooms. And the desert was a small chocolate and vanilla cake. All that for 104 dollars. Now I don't know much about steak, but that was not a 100 dollar steak. I say 100 dollar steak because the rest of the meal was vegetables. It all tasted really good, but easily should not have been over 30 - 40 dollars a person. The next thing is their drink menu, the least expensive drink was 12 dollars. Maybe 11, and with how much you're paying for food already, I don't know. Seems a tad high. After water and tea was all added up. We had spent over 180 dollars. And we went home and ate more, because neither of us were even close to full. Now if this was a tasting menu, fine. I understand that you may leave hungry still, you're not there to eat a full plate, you're there to taste good food, and the food was without a doubt good. Just for what it cost, I found it a bit much. Would I recommend this place to friends? Yes, without a doubt. But I will also be telling them that if you get anything other than a burger, it's a 200 dollar meal. But hey, the service was beyond amazing, and she had an insanely good sense of humour when I asked for my stek fully cooked.( Even though it came medium rare)
Staff are great - they remember regular customers! I always feel welcome.
The food was beyond amazing, the dishes were made with love and you can taste it. My family and I spend over 3 hours there and loved every second. Waiter was kind and helpful! It was truly a memorable experience.
My wife and I had a late valentines dinner here and loved it!
Don’t think menu is as good as it use to be partner disappointed with menu
Enjoyed meal from beginning to end, we had the oysters for appy, tenderloin and burger for main. Excellent
This is a gem - beautiful tudor-style mansion on a lake with white table cloths and proper settings that is rare to find in Vancouver anymore. The atmosphere is rare to find at the same menu pricing as most restaurants. With views over the sprawling lawn and Deer Lake, the experience is hard to beat.
Try Sunday brunch --- lovely! Or sitting out on the patio in the sunshine - outstanding!
Amazing staff and exceptional service!
Quite disappointed in the Valentines Day set menu we had last night. I went with my wife and although the service and setting were at least worth 4 stars the food was only worth 2 stars. Hence my 3 star rating. Nothing really stood out as great food. When I pay $88.00 per person I expect GREAT food. Nothing was bad (sandy scallops might be the exception - but were cooked perfectly). The appetizers were kind of boring (the cornmeal "pancake" and arctic char combination was truly tasteless) . The oysters three ways were pretty decent (the cucumber oyster was boring). The shared truffle risotto plate was ok but nothing special, the flavour was dominated by the Parmesan, the smoked carrots got completely lost -(very oddly served too as a communal share plate with two small bread plates given to each person but no spoon to serve - we scooped it up with our forks). The beef dish was good (very small portions and no side) and the scallops were good save the beach hardware mentioned above (loved the little cauliflower breaded bites though),. The cheesecake and chocolate tart were very yummy and done well - definitely the high-point of the night.
While the restaurant itself is quite cute and clean, the service and food fall flat on its face in all regards. May be worth it if this was priced perhaps $30 cheaper per person. Considering this is not the case, I will review the restaurant at the price point they prescribed @ $185 before tip for two people. I will be only noting the notable dishes in this review. Anything not mentioned would be defined as average.
This price range and course descriptions suggests they are fine dining, they are anything but. Starting with service, it was lack luster throughout the meal with no dish descriptions, overly casual, not taking away dishes.
The table bread they serve tastes terrible, and served with hard cold butter... One of the first times in my life I didn't even manage to eat a single slice. Also the server never took away the bread that we were clearly not eating the entire meal.
Truffle risotto was more like carrot risotto. Truffles shaved rather than infused, but low quality truffles make it nearly undetectable. The truffles were further masked by the slightly under cooked carrots that made the dish too sweet and carrot like. Their first attempt was under seasoned and it was sent back. They tried again but now overly salty, but it was much improved. Very strange they decided that this would be a dish that came shared... This is extremely unusual for fine dining, and especially a savory dish. Maybe its a play on valentines day, but that presentation seemed more lazy than romantic.
Beef dish was very small (one tiny slice of beef), all the sides were basically untouched because they didn't really do anything for the palette.
Scallops were cooked nicely, but overly salted on top. Was biting through chunks of salt on the 4 scallops they served for the entree.
Desserts were a complete failure. Cheesecake had an awful taste, chocolate tart was too hard and too much caramel.
Just don't go. You can go to Hawksworth for similar cost.
