Me and my husband had a great anniversary dinner here! Great food/service and nice ambiance! It’s not too casual neither too formal so it was just right for us!
Staff were very attentive and ambience was very nice. However, the food quality was rather disappointing: The Kale Caesar Salad was a nice twist on the odd staple but was drowned in too much dressing, the Arctic Char was overcooked and very dry and the Hart House Burger was not distinguishable from any pub food, lacked sophistication and a nice presentation as well. Finally, the Gingerbread Creme Brulee came in a tiny bowl with a tiny piece of biscotti on the plate, no nice presentation at all and at a cost of $11.00! Overall, if you come for the atmosphere you'll have a nice experience, that's what you pay for (big time) but better not to expect great food.
Lovely setting. Tasty food. Friendly staff. Delicious rich food. Local wines good selection. You should go there. Especially if you like the old colonial building with contemporary menu. And you can always get French fries cos some days you just need fries!
Excellent experience all around! From the time we entered the door until we left! Amazing food, wine, cocktails, service, view and ambience!
Was a lovely dinner with a wonderful atmosphere and service. Thank you!
We were 3 couples for New Year’s Eve. The atmosphere at Hart House is always lovely. Our dinners were absolutely delicious and conversation was not a problem because the background music is just that, background! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant.
My Husband and I went for the first time Christmas day and went back with some friends the following week as we all enjoyed the food, service and the whole Hart House.
Me and my husband made Hart House a tradition that we do every year around Christmas. The food is always delicious and atmosphere was wonderful. Can't wait to go back again!
Staff were very good, food quality was excellent. Overall a great experience
Menu, stated roast turkey, we ordered as stated and received processed rolled bacon wrapped fillets, cold bacon fatty and not cooked. This can be ordered from M&M frozen food, veg, Brussel sprouts were raw, bread dressing was dry and over cooked. Dessert had gelatin in the chocolate cake not edible. As my guests had flown in from England this was very embarrassing, suppose to be a special occasion after spending several hundred dollars we re very disappointed. Staff did not ask how we enjoyed our dinner and I can understand why!!! This bad experience will not allow us to return to Hart House.
Christmas dinner was fabulous. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. I loved that we could have the tasting of a traditional Turkey dinner but with a modern presentation. The soup had so much flavor and the desserts were the perfect amount of sweetness.
Very skillfully crafted food and the service was excellent! Attentive but not overbearing. We came for the Christmas day menu and were very happy with the 10/10 food. The only downside is that it was incredibly noisy-not that the restaurant has any fault in that but it was very loud and I wonder if there's anything that can help with the acoustics while preserving the integrity of the building. The inner decor was disappointing compared to the outside architecture, very plain. Still the food and staff make this venue outstanding overall.
We had our Christmas dinner here and it was the perfect venue. Warm and polite staff, prompt service and delicious food!
We visited December 24 for the evening 3 course dinner. My brother, mother and I wanted to enjoy Christmas with a special dinner so we didn’t have to cook ourselves. The hosts were outstanding and charming. The meal was wonderful. The wait staff were wonderful. The only downside was that we were placed next to a long table with very noisy guests. At times it was too much to even hear ourselves talk at our table. I had expected a quiet, enjoyable dinner by the fireplace but the noisiness of the next table ruined the ambiance I was expecting.
However, all around the experience was positive. Keep doing what you are doing. I will be back but hope to have a quieter pleasant experience:)
House is fantastic but we found the food was only good didn’t match our expectations unfortunately
As always great food and service. Very enjoyable.
Been before but not for a few years . Great service and great staff
We really enjoyed Sunday brunch and will make this a regular thing once a month.
An elegant setting, excellent meal, and prompt, friendly service.
Venerable restaurant in a converted old home on nice grounds.
Great for our Ladies' Christmas luncheon. We're planning to be back next year too!
First time dining at hart house even though I’ve lived in the area. I guess my expectations were pretty high going in, so that adds to my level of disappointment. I made reservations for 6 but they were able to accommodate us with 2 extra guests...perhaps this put my group in their bad books? I’m not sure.
However, throughout the meal the waitress came around and said “thanks for being patient” at least 3 times, because we weren’t getting the service we were paying for. We ordered champagne and spent a good deal of money on brunch and we didn’t have the experience we thought hart house was known for.
Our server was busy and she would walk by the table and “thank us for being very patient “ but, I was there celebrating my annual friends Christmas exchange, we were expecting higher level service, and we shouldn’t have had to be patient.
The menu, for brunch they had written tomato compote, expecting a house made tomato dip.... but when we asked our waitress for clarification she replied with subtle sarcastic remarks “it’s plain old ketchup”. Don’t put things on the menu unless you can deliver!
The food was good, not great... everyone of my friends had at least one complaint for their brunch... omelette was a little runny, the hash browns were too salty, etc.
I would not recommend this restaurant as a quality establishment. From the service, to the food, I guess the saving grace is the heritage house, and the decor.
We think that the Dress Standard should be enforced and NO babies
Was here for Christmas Team Dinner. Staff are very courteous and professional. Food was great!
Well done! Keep up the excellence in 2019! Staff very friendly and professional.
Our dinner was excellent too bad that our evening was spoiled by the table of drug dealers next to us. They were very loud and rude in their behaviour in a fine dining room. Their language was horrible and their tales of out running the police and making deliveries was more exciting when it was on the last episode of cops.....
The Maitre D' made the error of not noticing the noise from the table earlier but did ask us near our dessert time if we would like to move as he noticed the loud behaviour when he was walking through the opposite side of the dining room.
Always a great dining and service experience at Hart House!
The fries with aioli portion is huge for a side! It's enough for 4 people to share as an appetizer. I would appreciate the seared arctic char to be moister if possible. The fixing of quinoa and cauliflower could be softer as well. The chocolate dessert was creamy and decadent. My coworkers love the creme brulee and strawberry lemon curd.
Our server was friendly, quick and efficient. Apologized for something floating in my Prosecco when it was served and replaced it , but did have to bring it to staff attention. Bit more care should have been taken on pouring. Very pleased overall.
The food was awful, we ordered burger , spaghetti and a sea food dish with quinoa, the spaghetti was too salty, and the other dishes were so bad . It’s too pricey. Doesn’t worth at all! I never go back.
Waiter overbearing with one of our guests. He said, “Did you really come to Hart House to have a burger?” The food was excellent including the burger.
Always excellent service, wine and menu items. The only fly on the ointment so to speak is what happens in the kitchen. Having a perfectly done steak can be undone by finding a staple in the pasta.
We had a delightful time. Fantastic service, they were very kind to my toddler son and the atmosphere was lovely and not too noisy for a lunch where you’d like to hear each other speak. We may come back each year for our annual lunch, it was quite perfect. (Other than no change table for my toddler).
We have dined at Hart House on numerous occasions but had never tried the Sunday Brunch. The four of us were seated at a pleasant good sized round table. The menu featured a variety of dishes and all of our group were very pleased with both the drinks tried and their meal selections. Each serving was a good size. Our server was attentive and the hostess exceptional. She was welcoming and provided a history of Hart House that made the afternoon special.
We had great time there, food was good, nice view.
Arctic Char was superb. Vegetables perfectly tender crisp. Gabriela looked after our every need.
I made a reservation online and asked for a window seat, which was not reflected. They reserved a table in the corner next to window which did not have any views of outside I was hoping for. I wish they provided an explanation why they couldn't do it but no explanations. Food was good and price was okay I think. The disappointing part is when we finished our dishes, they seemed to rush cleaning the table by taking all dishes away. They also seemed to rush bringing the bill while still having a coffee as dessert. I felt like being pushed to leave after staying less than 90 minutes.
We had a lovely experience at Hart House. The staff was wonderful, the atmosphere is lovely. Would definitely recommend it.
We enjoyed a cozy dinner fireside celebrating a birthday. Good service, great food, decent wine list, lovely setting.
