Went to the Harvest Room to try the menu part of the Edmonton Dining Week and although the items were promising and creative the final result was underwhelming. The food, both the appetizers and the mains lacked flavor (no salt, pepper, or other spices or condiments).

I was extremely disappointed with our meals at the Harvest Room. My son and I went to dinner to celebrate his grades at school. I had the chicken and he had the ribs. The main meals were boring and consisted mainly of meat. Since I am not a huge meat eater I was extremely disappointed. My son did order mashed potatoes to go with his meal which was boring and lacked flavor. Your meal is basically just meat and you must add additional items to make a meal. Each additional item is $8. I was excited to have carrot cake as I expected it to be incredible. It wasn't. In fact, I sent it back. It was like the baker had marinated it with simple syrup to ensure it wasn't dry but it was too wet. It came with icing sugar sprinkled on top which surprised me as a cake shouldn't need any additional sugar sprinkled on top and it didn't make the plate look better. I had expected maybe some whipping cream or a nice fruit garnish. My son had the Pot de Creme which had coffee in it. If you want expresso coffee before bed you might enjoy this. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant for dinner at all.

Went for dinner during downtown dining week. Was only given the regular menu though. My friend and I had to ask for the dining week menu. It seems like unless you know about it, the restaurant doesn't not advertise it. That defeats the purpose of what downtown dining week is! Why bother being part of it if the menu is a secret? Other than that, service and food were good. Short ribs and crispy cod were our entrees and they didn't disappoint.

The server was very busy and it took a long time before she was able to take our order. She was good at her job but had too many tables to look after. It may have been due to staff staying home due to the Coronavirus.

The High Tea was really lovely. The food was mostly amazing.
The only item that I found bland was the egg salad.
The cheesecake was divine.
Try the Lapsang souchong tea. It's a real treat.

Really enjoyed my dinner at Harvest Room.
Couple of things though; we have received frozen pieces of butter with our bread to start our meal with. Also, when the server keeps asking if you are ready for your bill, it feels like they want you to leave already (we were scanning the place to make sure people are not waiting for tables but there were empty tables around us).
Considering how classy and pricy the Harvest Room is, I feel like it is important to mention these issues.

Again, enjoyed our evening and would be back for sure.

Excellent meal and service. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday so they gave her a brownie with a candle in it on the house. I received a call from the manager when we got home and were told they accidentally charged us for it and to mention it when we come back for a free drink or desert. That was great to get the call but not sure when we will be back. This was a special occasion and I’m sure it will be long forgotten when we do return. Server should have paid better attention to the bill before asking for payment. It’s an honest mistake. Meal was excellent! Hats off to the chef!

Portions a bit on the small size, but expected. Had the same dish and it wasn't as good as the last time. Hard to say if quality is consistent as only went twice. A bit dark, but nice and quiet. Definitely, a high end restaurant. Overall, a very good restaurant, especially if Groupon is used.

Everything about our dinner was delicious. Service was excellent. If I have one comment to make it would be that service was a little too quick. We didn’t feel rushed but wished it was a little more leisurely.

Excellent food, fantastic service, great ambiance with one exception. I really REALLY wish they would enforce a dress code. While there I saw a guy in sneakers, a second girl in sneakers with the backs crushed in turning them into permanent slip ons and a third guy with sneakers and a hoodie... If I'm going to pay a premium for fine dining I would expect the experience to be fine dining!

3 of us had the the beef tenderloin, mine was one of the best steaks I have ever had, the other 2 people were happy as well. The other meal was the beef short rib and that was excellent too. Very small portions for 48 dollars a plate but the restaurant, service and food was great.

The Harvest Room is still one of my favourite places in Edmonton to go for a special occasion. I recently stumbled on a Groupon that made it even more affordable. Our server, Dee was FABULOUS!! Seriously treated us with the utmost professionalism and gave us excellent suggestions starting with the beverage selection right through to dessert.
We both enjoyed the beef tenderloin (aged 30 days) which was cooked to perfection.
Valet parking is cheaper than street parking so if you so desire, take advantage of allowing their valets to care for you.
Thanks For another memorable evening!

We were here recently to have a late Valentine's Day dinner. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated promptly. My fiancee had requested a table that had a view and we got exactly that. Dew Johnny was our waiter and he was great! Very attentive and knowledgeable. He took good care of us.
I ordered the lamb and my fiancee ordered the beef tenderloin. Both dishes were cooked perfectly to order and everything was delicious. We were both quite full by the end of it. We didn't have room to order dessert.
After paying our bill, Dew invited us to ask him to be our waiter again the next time we were in. We very likely will!

Ivan provided great service and walked us through our courses and desserts. Too bad we couldn’t use our gift card for the Harvest table shared meal which if needed we would have paid a surcharge but the meal was excellent and the room was superb.....did I say Ivan was excellent

Everything was pretty good, but unfortunately all of our food came out cold for our mains. We shared the harvest room boards with the cod, lamb, and beef tenderloin, and you could tell it had been sitting for some time, as everything was the same temperature, but fairly cold. It was still a good meal, but had it been hot we would have enjoyed much more, and seen far better value in our visit.

Service was great other than our server had forgotten to ring in one drink for me so I never received it, but this wasn't a huge issue, I feel our server took good care of us.

Beautiful restaurant, and otherwise a pretty good experience, had the good been warm it would have been great and a better value received.

We’ve been for drinks and appies, in the summer on the patio, spent a luxurious weekend in September and Tea and tour. Any time of the year is beautiful and memorable. We loved the experience of eating and sleeping in a castle. Not much to improve on.

Booked here to get the valentine's special dinner, when we showed up they were sold out of it which was very disappointing and the only reason we made the reservation. Still ate dinner here, the meals were good and the service was excellent.

Have done high tea at other hotels including Fairmonts. Generally we are able to sample several different teas but here they only allowed us one type and then only water re-fills. Kind of disappointing.

I was very excited to take my wife here for Valentine's Day. She loves seafood, and the menu really looked good. Unfortunately, this was a really disappointing experience. I don't feel bad saying that when I'm paying the price they are demanding for a meal, I expect nothing less than scrumptious, with a perfect atmosphere.

Some of the food was quite delicious. I really enjoyed the proscuitto wrapped prawns, and the Digby scallops were very tasty. However, the scallop course was an example of how hit and miss this meal was. It was supposed to be a Ravioli, but it was just two scallops hidden between two hard yet limp potentially pieces of pasta. I tried to eat them; my wife just set them aside to enjoy what was nicely cooked scallops. When we got our mains, I had the tenderloin and she had the salmon. She was served Edamame which were so hard, they were impossible to eat. I did manage to squeeze a couple of beans out of them, which was fun I guess, but certainly wasn't enjoyable to eat. Then finally came dessert... but although the mousse and mascarpone were both tasty, the proportions were all wrong. It came across as simply overly sweet. Less mousse, more of the cookie, and perhaps some dark chocolate drizzled over it all to make it a bit more romantic and cut the sweetness might have made it more interesting. Beyond these egregious problems, the rest of the meal simply existed... nothing was creative, inspired, or surprising. Of the 17 Valentine's Days I have enjoyed with my wife, this meal was the worst. Sorry.

We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the food. From the cocktails to the bread, salad , steak and vegetables everything tasted fantastic. Even the ice cream was extremely yummy. The ambience and service was also amazing. Looking forward to our next meal there.

This is the second time we have been here in the last couple of months. The first time, I ordered the short-ribs and my husband had the steak. While my meal was very good, my husband's steak was lackluster and on the small side. This last time, I ordered the black cod and my husband ordered the lamb. My fish was ok but not outstanding and my husband's lamb was bland and the vegetables were super garlicky. I don't really see the value for the money.

No, portions are way too small for the prices. The food tasted great for the most part. However, for the same prices could easily get double the quantity at a Keg or Moosehead, and the tastes would be close. If people thought the atmosphere would be worth the extra cost, they would be wrong. Fairly bland setting. I doubt we would come again, unless it were for a banquet or some other invite.

We were welcomed warmly at the Harvest room and showed to our seats. They explained the midweek brunch which was Fabulous. The Smoked Salmon and Eggs Benny are exquisite. I would highly recommend The Harvest Room at Hotel Mac to all. If it's good enough for the Queen, Pavarotti and the Stones it's good enough for us.
