Harvest Room - Fairmont Hotel Macdonald
LOCAL. SEASONAL. SUSTAINABLE. We also offer complimentary Wifi for our Diners.
Loved the scones.
Server was friendly and efficient and she was very helpful.
Liked the tour too. Nice added bonus.
It was my very first time bribing my girlfriend to the Harvest room for a Valentine's day experience. I could be have asked for a better experience than what we had. Our server Michelle was amazing. I can't say enough good things about how attention to detail she was and on the ball. She made us laugh and made this an experience we want to have again. If your ever in the Harvest room and get to be served by her, you are in for a treat she will treat you like family and make sure you are happy. The food was amazing, the your was pretty interesting. The staff in the hotel are also all super nice and acconidating. All in all, I would tell anyone and everyone to go have a dining experience here!!
Food is sooooooooooo good the flavours are Unbeatable
Harvest room is lovely - if you can get a deal. Otherwise it's way overpriced. Especially the Cocktails/ wine. At the deal price it's still expensive, but we splurge when we can get this half price!
The food was very good and the atmosphere was wonderful.
The evening was good. Chefs selection was very good except for the deep fried potato on freah cream . I feel the deep fry hindered an excellent opportunity for the dish. I did have broken shells in my mouth from the fresh oyster. This is why I do not rate it any higher. The service form Dew Johnny was superb!
Perfect place for any occasion! Alone or a date or a family meal. Harvest room is the perfect spot.
It was a great experience - enjoyed the whole afternoon
Tea , treats and Tour - our guide was fabulous
We had never been before and were really looking the evening for my wife's birthday with friends. We arrived and used the Valet parking as it was -30 degrees out. The Harvest Room was nice but was extremely hot which they warned us about when we checked our coats. My wife liked it as she's always cold but I was quite uncomfortable as I was wearing a jacket. When reserving I asked for a quiet corner table "if possible" and when we arrived they sat us at the first table right in front of the entry door which was unfortunate as there was a steady stream of people walking past us all evening. The food was good but not quite the quality I was expecting for the famous Harvest Room. Most surprising was the sub-par service. Our waiter never seemed to be there when we needed him and was not very attentive through the evening. We asked to delay bringing our deserts as we wanted to have a coffee with them and they showed up before our wine was done so ice cream was melting. This said, our waiter was very nice and I think he was trying hard and doing what he thought was right. Lastly, we paid $22 for valet parking (again, we thought we'd treat ourselves) and after dinner when I went out in front of our group to call for the car, the valet hit the auto-start button on my car and it started up about 30 feet from where we were standing. Yes, it was outside in the -30 temps the entire time and we all got in a frozen car. I thought valet meant the car would be parked in a heated structure or something and they would bring the car up when we were ready but I guess I watch too many movies. All in all, we still had a good night out but it was just a little less than we expected.
NOT THE EMAIL OF THE CUSTOMER. MAKE SURE EMAILS ARE CORRECT. I LIVE IN ENGLAND NOT CANADA
Nicely updated menu. Great service. Our waiter, Dew, was outstanding.
Our evening out was a celebration of my wife's Birthday. The food was exquisite. For me the beef tenderloin was the best I've had anywhere. After our chosen desserts were consumed the server brought a slice of Birthday cake to my wife that was resting on a piece of slate accompanied by a single lit candle. It was a lovely touch to a lovely evening. I love the small dining room at the Hotel MacDonald. It's such an intimate and warm space. The service is discreet and understated. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful romantic night out for our anniversary. The evening started off excellent right from the start with the hostess greeting us warmly and taking our coats. They were friendly and attentive. Our server for the night was great as well, good sense of humour. The meal was excellent. We both did the 3 course meal - I had the Foraged Mushroom Soup, Heritage Beef Tenderloin (The tenderloin was so tender hardly needed a knife) Mac Signature Scone Crumble. My husband had the Smoked Duck Croquettes, Roasted butternut squash Risotto Toffee Pudding, Candied Ginger,
Grand Marnier Toffee Sauce, Vanilla Ice cream. All was exceptionally delicious. The only problem I had was I couldn't eat anymore and had already eaten too much. Wonderful evening all the way around.
We enjoyed the royal tea as part of a milestone birthday celebration and it was perfect. Dew made sure we were well taken care of during the meal and Jerrod gave us a engaging, informative tour afterward. All in all, a lovely afternoon and we would recommend it and come again!
Having frequented the Harvest Room many times over the years, with a few year absence, I was disappointed to see the level of "fine dining" diminished. The lack of linen table clothes and a table nicely appointed were missed. The food was okay. The scallops were the biggest disappointment - two small seared scallops with a smattering of sauces for $23.00, way overpriced! The caesar salad was lacking garlic and far too much dressing was poured on. The Chateaubriand was perfectly done - the au jus was divine, the fingerling and steamed asparagus were good but not anything special - $95.00/couple. The dessert of "burnt honey over ice cream" was delicious but call it what it is: vanilla ice cream with crumbled sponge toffee on top. The service was very good and Ivan was very helpful and pleasant. The ambience was nice and quiet which was appreciated.
I made reservations for harvest room by accident instead of brunch which was 100 percent my fault so we switch to brunch and I was charged 50 percent of $59/person (7people) which equal $216.00 for the harvest room prior to moving over to the brunch side but I was never discounted for senior and a child. And still paid full price for brunch so all in all it ended up being a pricey brunch. Paid 50 percent for 7 full adults to cancel harvest room then paid full again for brunch. Children and seniors are supposed to be discounted.
The Harvest Room is place to go for an anniversary but i think it is way overpriced for the quantity and quality of food. There are so many good restaurants and I probably will not go back again to this location for such an event.
$35 a plate - coming out to some $170 including gratuity for the 4 of us (senior, adult, 17 and 13) was not good value for what we received. The setting is lovely, the service good and the food was good but all together did not add up to such a high price tag.
The food was wonderful, our server was very helpful and knowledgable. Great atmosphere!
A great way to start New Years Day evening. An all around lovely experience with my husband. Great ‘date night.’ Our waiter Dew, and the coat check gal/maître’d were very welcoming and friendly. We will come again! Thank you.
Anniversariy dinner. Superior atmosphere, Excellent service, fine dinning.
This was our first time at this restaurant. It did not disappoint! The ambience, the food, and the service were impeccable!! Our servers name was Jacob and he went above and beyond that of an employee - very considerate of our needs.
Exquisite Christmas dinner. Service and hospitality second to none. Can not fault anywhere
We went for the christmas dinner. It was good, but $420 good? No. I don't think i'll go back for the christmas dinner again. Not because it wasn't good... but because it was too expensive for what i got. Of course all the servings were smaller... but it had more to do do with the odd pairings. While everything was good individually. Not everything went well together that was on your plate. I think for the price for two people it should have been better. These are the only pictures i was able to add. The ones i'm missing are the main course and dessert which were the best courses.
Requested a diabetic high tea menu and a nut free menu when reservations were made. The diabetic menu was ignored. When we flagged this, they brought a bowl of fruit! Pretty pricey fruit for $60+. Disappointing menu and quantity for the price paid.
Our evening dinner at The MacDonald Harvest Room was a very good experience , once again. We treated ourselves to a special dinner for our 43rd wedding anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed been spoilt and treated in a special way as the usual very good standard of the harvest room. Thank you for a memorable evening.
The attention to detail keeps us coming back. They always ask if the occasion is special and tailor our experience accordingly. We've celebrated many anniversaries there and they make it very enjoyable.
We loved the Christmas tea. When we said my mother-in-law was visiting from out of town, they brought out this beautifully presented tiramisu. Even better? It was the best tiramisu we’d ever tasted.
We had Christmas Tea at the Hotel MacDonald. Everything (ambiance, service, setting, music) was wonderful with one exception. They offered a gluten-free menu (which was great), but the selection of gluten-free food was limited and the quantity given was disappointing. It would have been very nice if they had a broader selection of foods, and more of it.
It was amazing. Worth every penny you spend there. Food was great and the servers were awesome.
My Mom lives it!
This was my first time attending the Nutcracker Tea. I would definitely return next year. The whole experience was one of pampering. From start of process to end, staff was helpful with allergies, knowledgable of selections, curteous and attentive. Our server was Jacob, and he made sure we had everything we needed and made the experience very enjoyable for us. Selection of foods was appropriate for the season. Portion size was perfect for High Tea. The white chocolate cranberry scones were amazing! The atmosphere was festive, yet quiet enough for conversation. This adventure was one of those that makes the holiday season special when shared with friends. I would highly recommend it.
We did the high tea and tour. We arrived and were seated for the preset time of 12:30. Our server was very pleasant but had too many tables and ours was one of the last to be served. Our final tray of finger sandwiches and deserts arrived only a half hour before the start of of the tour which was much too rushed to enjoy the food, pay our bill and be ready for the tour.
I booked this table for the nutcracker tea and tour as a Christmas gift for my fiance's aunt. We were very excited to try the tasty treats and tour the beautiful hotel. Unfortunately, my fiance became ill and was highly contagious and was unable to make the reservation with us. The cancellation/change policy is not last minute friendly, as we were charged half the cost of the missing guest. I understand the policy protects the hotel from large group cancellations, but this was a unforeseen illness and I would suspect they would not want a contagious patron near other guests.
However, the service we received was impeccable. Our waiter was very informative and attended to our every need. He was always prompt to visit our table, an never disturbed us.
The food was simply divine! Each course was fresh and looked beautiful. There are a variety of teas to chose from, some an added cost.
I would highly suggest the high tea that is served at this establishment! In the summer time, the patio is open to guests to see Edmonton's gorgeous views.
Customer service excellent and food is awesome 👏 Cheers 🍷
Was there for my 65 birthday, was a dream of mine to stay at the Macdonald, Dew was our waiter and made my evening so special, it was an occasion I will always remember! The staff at the hotel are OUTSTANDING!!
Absolutely outstanding service and meals. The Harvest Room staff took time to take Christmas photos and provide celebratory champagne and cake, free of charge, for our small retirement celebration.
The scones and pastrami sandwiches were delicious. I didn’t like the desserts (especially the Christmas pudding) as much.
