I had such high expectations for the dinner in the restaurant tonight but the experience was really disappointing!!! The food was just okay, nothing amazing and worth the hype. Not to mention that the service is just horrible! Our server was simply rude! His voice was so low that nobody can hear him clearly. Then he had no patience with our questions. When I asked about the parfait, what he said was it’s just a parfait... what kind of answer was that! Overall his attitude was arrogant and rude. The experience was so poor that I am not coming back for dinning anytime soon!
Overpriced and unimpressive. Service was very poor
Great venue. Fancy food. Service was wonderful. Good wine menu.
This was my third visit to Hawksworth but somehow I got disappointed. My 2 family members and I were arranged to sit in a dark corner near the restroom. This dining area was not the main glamorous area. The waiter who served us was moving like working in fast food restaurant and rush everything. This totally destroyed the elegant atmosphere dining in a French restaurant. When we asked the waiter to take a group photo for us, he did it without patience even he was not very busy. We ordered the set lunch without ordering wine or other food items. The waiter showed a bit looking down to us. When the waiter came to ask me if I want dessert or coffee or tea, I told him that dessert was included in my set lunch. He then showed impatient and told me that now he was asking if I wanted to order coffee or tea. Poor service spoil the total dining experience. I won't come back to Hawksworth again.
Our second visit to this amazing foodie restaurant. The decor takes your breath away. Innovative chef that does not disappoint. Service exceeded our expectations.... very intuitive team .
Everything was lovely from service to food. Would come again next time.
The best restaurant in the city!!! Wine pairing is a must!!!
Service was excellent! Food.....mm...wasn’t up to my expectation.......
Excellent experience all around. Great choice of drinks. Food was delicious. A bit louder than expected.
Great ambiance as soon as you walk in to the venue. You can feel the energy starting from the host, staff and guests. The food was delicious, well presented, modern and creative. It was even better to ask for recommendation from the sommeliers. The appetizers and mains were well-paired. Fantastic service by all. We would like to say a special thank you to Jayton Paul who was very attentive and knowledgeable.
Overall experience was very good. The food and drink were outstanding. The service was good, but could be improved with a little more responsiveness to equal the quality delivered with the food. The restaurant itself is a bit cozy and it would be good to have a little more room in between tables, but at the end of the day, was a great experience.
Flavors were good. Portions were small. Prices were high. Still hungry after our dinner.
We celebrated mom’s birthday there last weekend.
We were greeted by the friendly host. She was very kind and welcoming but we were distracted by how wrinkly her blouse was. Not what one would expect to be the first impression of a 5 star restaurant.
The decor and ambiance was just what we were hoping for. Dark, romantic and plush. We were comfortably seated at a round table in the back room.
The appetizers (albacore tuna, scallop) were beautifully plated and tasty. But there was no wow factor, nothing unique in flavor, texture etc. they tasted as expected.
The mains however were disappointing. 2 guests ordered lobster tail, and 2 guests ordered the beef ribeye. The lobster tail, although presented well, were tiny (looked more like large prawns) and had a soft (not fresh) consistency. The beef ribeye was surprisingly gristly. We all ended up with overly chewed pieces of meat on our plates. Admittedly we did not make a fuss, but thought the wait staff would’ve noticed the chewed meat piles building on our plates, especially when clearing the table. Instead we received no inquiry or comments.
We all had dessert (dark chocolate chantilly, sweet milk ice cream, crème fraîche, and cherry) again well plated, were all just ok, nothing noteworthy. A chocolate “happy birthday” plaque was added to mom’s dessert, which was a nice touch, but no candle. We were hoping for a candle.
2 glasses of wine
3 mains (2 lobsters and ribeye for 2)
Total: 522CAD (with tip)
For a restaurant rated as one of Vancouver’s best, we were all disappointed. The experience, service, and quality of the food has steadily declined from when we had first visited the restaurant in 2012. Unless a trusted source (ie. a like minded friend) recommends Hawksworth in the future, I don’t think any of us will be dining here again.
Smoked salmon Benny with house smoked salmon was great!
Service was personal, food was good, but lacked presentation impact, noise level was too high to really understand the Server or sommelier.
Wonderful food and ambiance, it got very loud as it got busier.
We dined at lunch
1. Service at the bar was excellent
2. The 3 course lunch menu was outstanding
3. Wine pairings and sommelier knowledge was excellent
4. The only tiny thing that was not the best was bread basket. $6 ....I have no problem with the price and the portion was large but the breads were not great (not super fresh
5. All in all great experience
Hands down, my favourite restaurant in the city. Superb food and the best wine service anywhere.
The lunch prix fixe menu was very good. Everything was delicious!
I booked Hawkswoelrth for a nice meal with a very good business friend. The service was outstanding and the meals were perfect. I had the sablefish and it was cooked perfectly. My friend had the short ribs and raved about how tender the dish was. It is an experience everyone should try!
The excitement of the fire drill added a bit of interest to the evening...
Very good food in a classy room with professional waitstaff. Prices are high but the quality of the food is excellent. It feels a bit past its prime but still very good. Tables are close together so seating is important. All in all, we enjoyed our experience.
Great ambience, food and service...couldn’t have asked for more.
Food was good but pricey. Service match with other fine dining restaurants.
Very creative dishes with a matching wine list. All items (from the appetizers to the desserts) were equally good.
I went there for the last dinner with my friend.
We ordered tasting menu and asked about wine pair.
Service and food are really good.
Obviously, I will go again.
The absolute perfection of an evening at Hawksworth made for a beauty birthday celebration. We very much enjoyed all aspects, and I would be remiss if i didn’t rave about the sommelier’s breadth of knowledge and generosity in sharing his wisdom with us over each glass that accompanied the tasting menu. Brilliant.
We chose the tasting menu with wine pairings.
Great service, awesome food, and amazing wine.
The ambiance at Hawksworth is ideal for a date or special occasion dinner. It has a cozy, intimate feel about it. The food was very good, and our server was personable and made great recommendations.
Food was wonderful. My scallop starter was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. My lamb main course was also very good and complimented perfectly by the roasted cauliflower. My husband started with the porchetta and fennel which wasn't the most beautiful dish but made up for it in taste. His lobster tail and agnolotti were tender and flavourful. It was a romantic spot and perfect for a special occasion. However, I am disappointed to say that, especially for the price, I've had better.
A delicious, masterfully crafted culinary experience! Outstanding from beginning to end. The hosts upon arrival set the stage for an enchanted evening. We cannot wait to return! Our sincere thanks to the entire Hawksworth team.
Great food. Almost Michelin quality efficiency in service. Food was excellent and explanations of food and wine pairing was good. Attentiveness of staff was appropriate.
We would deinfiyly go back
Tried the 7 course set menu. Each dish was an introduction to something completely new (at least for me), flavours I couldn't quite identify but worked perfectly, textures I never knew could be achieved with everyday ingredients, like goat cheese with the consistency of a meringue. Food allergies were accommodated expertly. A real eye opener in fine dining. Unfortunately I docked one star for service as our party included a 14 year old who was basically ignored. She was well behaved, but the restaurant has not one ounce of family friendliness, unlike other high end restaurants in town that we've been to. Otherwise, it was one of the best meals I've had.
Food was good, with a few special dishes. Could get a bit noisy when it's full.
Simply: fantastic food, attention to all details and beautiful atmosphere
Amazing service and food! Great way to spend our anniversary! We will be back!
The food was beyond fantastic. Foie Gras was our of the world. Lamb and sea bass were excellent
This was my first visit and I will definitely go again. The food was amazing - different and excellent. The service was also excellent.
Our starters came pretty fast (within 5 minutes of ordering) which was nice since we were both very hungry. The bread was good, I enjoyed the sourdough bread with the olives-it was very fresh and not too sour (I don't usually like sourdough bread). Unfortunately one piece of bread had a piece of hair on it. We sent it back and they were very apologetic and nice about it. We got a discount and even got extra small desserts and a chocolate loaf to take home at the end after the formal dessert. Service was very good and the restaurant itself is well decorated, very elegant and beautiful, and has a great ambiance. However, I found the lighting to be a bit dark later on in the evening. We weren't rushed through our meal so we were able to savour the food and taste the flavours and textures of all the ingredients together. I had the albacore tuna starter which tasted wonderful with the black ink squid sauce. It was slightly acidic but was also umami. I had the lobster tail for my main course and it was delicious, buttery and slightly sweet. The pasta filled with the squash was very good (sweet but not too sweet) and all the ingredients on the plate went well with the lobster tail. For dessert I had the sweet milk ice cream. It was excellent, the pairings of the ingredients really elevated the ice cream. The honeycomb added smokiness, the fruit puree and the fruit itself added a nice tart flavour on the tongue balancing out the sweetness. They had white chocolate on the plate which I don't normally like but it was good. My friend had the porchetta starter which I tried and it was good. She had the beef, and it was so tender and flavourful. I never would have thought watermelon would go so well with beef. Her macarons were pretty good, the chocolate one stood out, although the apple caramel one we couldn't tell what the flavour was until after we asked again. Overall, I really enjoyed this meal and would definitely come back, well technically this is the third visit!
