Our wine list features the best that Niagara has to offer including a wonderful selection of ice wines to accompany that special dessert. During the warmer months, a candle lit dinner can be enjoyed on the side verandah which overlooks the gardens as well as North America's oldest golf course.
After dinner, guests are welcome to enjoy a glass of port or ice wine or perhaps a specialty coffee in the adjoining lounge or sit on the verandah to enjoy the evening sky.
The dining room is open seven days a week.

Enjoyed the meal although the meat portion seemed a bit small for the cost
We decided to eat on the patio where there was live music. The patio menu was just OK.
Very disappointed with the service and the food was bland. For the price we paid I expected much more. We won’t be going back. It’s a shame really, such a beautiful property and so much potential.
We had a fabulous view of thw golf course, and one of the best meals ive ever had. Save room for dessert!
This is a very suitable restaurant for dinner. The environment is elegant, the service is very good, the food is delicious! This is a very suitable restaurant for dinner. The environment is elegant, the service is very good, the food is delicious!
Picked this restaurant by accident, but we very pleased we did. The staff were excellent and very knowledgeable. The food was prepared and presented beautifully. This is definitely a place we will visit again
Very good and personal service. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Appetizers have a great presentation. Food is very appealing. On the mild side for flavour. Would be good if they would add some spicier dishes to the menu, or just bump up the flavour a notch on some of the dishes. Great wine selection.
This is, I think, the best restaurant for dinner in Niagara on the Lake. Inventive menu, interesting local wine choices, lovely atmosphere.
Excellent waitress and accommodating chef!
Oliver was great our dinner was excellent
Awesome ! I cant think of any negative about this fine restaurant. Food was great, every server and attendant was great. It was just a great experience! Will definitely come back
Meeting old friends
Outstanding! Everything about Hob Nob was excellent. Nestled in a charming 1800's inn, the room exuded warmth and comfort. Our server, Jillian, was helpful and fun. The food was awesome. I had the halibut, my wife had the rack of lamb. A truly memorable meal from start to finish. A must-go if you're in Niagara-On-The-Lake at dinnertime!
Overall excellent experience!!
Amazing service. Diane was really friendly. They have a a beautiful garden and delicious food of course!
Food was excellent and were able to accommodate food allergies with no fuss. We were surprised when the bill came and was less than expected. They were aware it was a special occasion and treated us to some simple specials to make the evening even more special.
Our server was lovely and knowledgeable. Service was excellent, food interesting, delicious and beautifully presented. The setting feels like you are having a private meal in a gracious manor home.
The Oricchieti Bolognese was excellent and more than ample. The pan seared scallops were perfect with delicious vegetable strips. The huge Porchetta Pretzel Hoagie would have been better with less bacon and cheese as they overpowered the pork itself. The arugula pesto was very tasty and complemented the pork. The fries were also excellent. Has to request that the landscaper stop cutting the hedge; we could not hear ourselves speak and the ambience was ruined on such a lovely day.
I came in last year and absolutely enjoyed my time at Hobnob, however this year around its just was far off from my last experience.
The food wasn't same level as last year, i felt i came into a everyday bistro rather then a fine dining dinner establishment.
Eating quinoa as an opening with olive oil is not creative its just purely lazy. some ingredients in the dishes were switched which is expected but the waiter wasnt aware of it. Providing very scripted experience and if asked a question was lost and even asking me what is the ingredient.
I was also looking forward to the main meal dish, the AAA tenderloin but i never had such dry, tasteless piece of meat.
So sad to see just a promising establishment last year turns into less then average bistro shop.
We had a very long wait for our lunch and the portion of my fish was very small. Poor value. We brought out of town friends and I was very disappointed.
Birthday. My mother’s. She enjoyed her lunch (grilled vegetable sandwich) and dessert (lemon cheesecake with lemon curd) Unfortunately, I did not. I think they forgot to put salad dressing on my salad ( grilled vegetable salad with a walnut) so it was very bland. I did not care for the raspberry mango mousse dessert.
Beautiful bed and breakfast with restaurant that overlooks golf course...simply amazing! The food and service was good!
We were celebrating 3 anniversaries-44th wedding , my husband's 70th birthday but most importantly the one year anniversary of my husband's successful transplant surgery-without which the other occasions would not have been possible. We were staying at The Charles Hotel and this made our dinner reservation an easy choice. Staff were friendly yet professional, knowledgeable and we were not rushed to finish the meal.
Great lunch with attentive service on the verandah overlooking the golf course. Both the mac & cheese and the grilled veg sandwich were very good. We appreciated the hotel/restaurant's location at the quiet end of NOTL's main street .
I’m not a fan of giving a negative review. I’d rather say nothing at all but in this case there’s an opportunity to improve so much. This is a historic venue in Niagara-on-the-Lake and has a lot of potential. Our server, Allan while pleasant enough, was pretty distracted most of the night and often had to be prompted to serve us. The culinary experience was just ok. Cured Salmon was over the top salty. Duck was uneventful and portion sizes were American. This is a complete put off in my opinion. I much prefer quality over quantity. They opened the patio doors including screens and the entire dining room filled with mosquitos. It seemed like a deliberate tactic to get tables to finish up. I was disappointed in the experience and it doesn’t currently deserve its rating.
Booking again with HobNob within 3 days says it all! Really enjoyed the well prepared good food and the whole experience that went along. Merci beaucoup.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary. The food was very good as was the service. The restaurant is very quite and provided a delightful atmosphere as it was easy to carry a conversation.
I was compelled to revisit within 3 days of my lunch with other friends. Service is friendly and accommodating. Food is exceptionally prepared, tasty and ample.
Rather a quiet time at Friday lunch at 11:30am, but made for more attentive service and noise levels in the resto. Comfy traditional inside seating.
Food portions were small, have to ask for bread, fish was tiny, but with crispy skin; steak was larger, but tough in parts. Interesting twist on a potato salad. Drinks over priced, but par for NotL.
Value also par for the tourist town NotL, read expensive.
Dinner with Mom
Plenty of other better places for dinner. This place had good reviews but meals were under seasoned and over priced.
I recently celebrated my birthday at Hob Nob and we indulged in the tasting menu and wine pairing. It was effortless, delicious, perfectly-sized and served by someone who was both efficient and knowledgable -- and knew just how much to say without being over-the-top in describing the wines. We ate outside on the veranda on a particularly beautiful spring day, but I think we would have enjoyed our meal just as much inside. Truly one of the the top ten global dining experiences in our travels.
Awesome experience. Beautiful building. Wonderful food, ambiance , and service. Ansley is the best!
HobNob continues to be our favourite dining experience in NOTL. Full of character and the food is amazing. Friendly helpful staff made it a lovely evening.
HobNob was a great place to eat, with amazing food and great wine. This was our second time there. We had a longer wait than ideal for the food to come out, so the service part was affected by that. Our server was fantastic, but when the kitchen's backed up, the server can't do much. However, it was a birthday meal and the did provide some complimentary champaign to celebrate which was a very nice touch. Overall, a very nice place to have a late meal and spend an evening.
Loved the wine pairing. We were even able to substitute an item.
We had a wonderful meal at the HobNob. The tuna was very nice (although a tad overdone for my taste) and the lamb was excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating.
We attended Mother's Day Brunch to celebrate our anniversary, which falls around MD. The outside of the building looks neglected, and we were seated in an enclosed porch with a view of a rather messy patio. The inside dining room looked fine, but the porch missed ambiance. The bathroom is also in need of an update. We received a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and later MD plant from the friendly servers. We both ordered the steak and egg, which was well prepared and a well-sized portion. The food was overall well cooked, but missed surprises.
Upon entering the Hob Nob I was wowed by the impressive decor. The Charles hotel is not only historic but impeccably maintained and true to its era. The downfall was that there was little or no indication of the reception area and the greeting process was indifferent and lack lustre. Having heard good things we still gave it a chance. Supplemented with an appropriate dose of humour and good cheer our seating process ended up nicely with a prime window facing the quaint street view. Our server was enthusiastic and his wine pairings with the tasting menu were notable..
My favourite dish was the artic char. My favourite wine was the 30 bench cab merlot. Would never have pegged it as an Ontario wine! Absolutely impressed.
Minor complaint was the plate for the artic char and tenderloin should have been warm.
Least favourite dish was the foie gras but only because the Jack Daniels was a bit off and left the otherwise delicious torchon a bit mushy at the edges.
Overall the flavours were well thought out... the staff is well prepared to present and serve the food. They handled my gluten free needs seamlessly.
I would definitely return... definitely recommend!!!
Timely, efficient and really fun service combined with sublime food. Mostly local wine, not the best of Niagara but lots of good ones. A full evening experience, completely satisfying and decent value.
