Homer Street Cafe & Bar
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

Love this place! Food is always great ... creative, interesting and exceptionally well-prepared. Service was a little “over attentive”. We wanted to relax and enjoy our conversations but felt as though the staff wanted to turn our table over asap.
Service was excellent. The food was interesting and tasty but would have been exceptional if it was hot!
Great place for an uptown casual dinner!
Great brunch place with very good food and ambiance:)
Delicious as always! One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver.
Our servers are always so kind and wonderful. Always top notch service in my opinion
My go to for amazing food and service
Went here for lunch with my family including my 86-year-old mother-in-law. They sat us on a long table with bench seating - not the best for our older guest. When the table filled next to us, it also got quite loud. To note, this seating was in a fun little nook that would have been fine for a younger group.
We then placed our order, only to find out that brunch was all that was served that day. It was Saturday. To be fair, we had a new waiter and he was very apologetic, but I was disappointed I didn’t see this noted anywhere when I made the reservation. The manager was also extremely apologetic and comped our desserts at the end of dinner. The brunch meals we ended with were all excellent, and the dining experience overall was a good one. and I would recommend this to others easily.
I had requested a seat in the lower section of the restaurant or perhaps the Chefs table overlooking the kitchen. I have frequent this restaurant a lot of the years so I know the areas I like to sit. I understand that requests can’t always be accommodated but some kind of recognition that I had made a request that couldn’t be accommodated would have been nice. Or offering us an option of seats instead of just ignoring my request and sitting us in the bar area. The entire restaurant is nice so sitting by the bar was “fine”, but it was a special night for us and the lower seating area was much more preferred. The food, service and drinks were all great. The seating put a bit of a damper on the evening.
Excellent meal and service. Charcuterie was phenomenal. Avocado and crab salad was excellent.
A friend recommended this restaurant. He said it was so good, they went back the next night to dine again. We may need to do the same.
My wife has special dietary requirements and they were very helpful in accommodating her and still provide a delicious meal.
Would have hoped my input of birthday would have promoted a better table than right beside the server station...
Our waiter was terrific and provided excellent drink recommendations.
Excellent as always!! Casual or celebratory, can never go wrong dining here!
I always choose to dine here when going to events downtown. The food is consistently high quality and very tasty. The ambiance is wonderful. I really enjoy being able to watch the meals being prepared. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
love the ambience and service at Homer St Cafe and perfect before theatre. Would like an expanded menu.. choices are a bit limited.
This was our second time at the restaurant and I think our first time was better, maybe because it was summer and we sat on the patio. We did have reservations, however our table was close to the bathrooms. We ordered caesars as our pre dinner drink. The actual drink was extremely spicy , but it was the garnish that was indescribable. I don't need to have an overly creative garnish but a piece celery that didn't wilt would have been nice. Its pretty sad when your husband has to ask what the garnish was...just saying.
Overall enjoyed our meal and dining experience. Good location and unique décor. Our server was excellent. Food was 3 out of 5 and took quite long to prepare.
Quality could be improved upon.
Nonetheless, I would return as the overall experience was good.
I made a reservation a month ahead for 5 pm on November 18 for 6. We arrived on time and were seated above the hostess table near the entrance. We were served waters and told we would need to be out by 8. No problem we said as we have a 8 ferry to catch. First waitress takes drink orders not informs us that it is the end of her shift. Drinks take 15 plus minutes to come. Next waitress takes our order. We ask for bread. Forgets. Table next to us arrived. Orders. Served before us. Time marches on. Second waitress leaves. Lovely man takes over and tries to pick up pieces. Two of us leave before dessert to get car so we are ready to leave by 6:50 to head for ferry. Not a good experience at all.
Made a reservation and had perfect seating for four people. And the service and the food was very quick. The wait staff were charming and thankfully didn’t tell me their names! I think the Homer St., Café is a perfect little spot to go… And thank goodness it’s not one of the chains. I’ll be back
Excellent value, good service, good food resulting in a comfortable non pretentious dining experience perfect for a regular choice in ones selection of establishments. Highly recommend.
Nice dinner before going to a performance at the QE Theatre. Great service and really appreciated the effort to provide a superb vegetarian option.
Lovely small place in an unassuming location. Great ambience for a relaxing enjoyable meal, although the 2 person tables are a bit close for real privacy. We did meet another nice couple heading to the same show though! Service and food were top of the line. Would love to see more BC VQA on their wine list. Overall an excellent experience and would certainly go there again!
Moms bday before shower Q E
I wish they could include a veggie side dish for brunch/lunch, I feel that some dishes do not have enough vegetables, vegetables are easy to cook but they are not flexible, they cannot substitute for example potatoes with veggies, so the best is consider a veggie side dish for those who wish to have more veggies during brunch /lunch.
Always a pleasant experience. So glad to have this place in our neighbourhood.
The rotisserie chicken is still my favourite.
Great little chef's 'table' (bar really)
I have never gone for brunch......and, it was outstanding!
I took my mom out to Homer Street Cafe and Bar on our girls night. This place was the perfect vibe - casual, yet elegant. Our service was superb and the food was divine. I will certainly visit this fine establishment again.
A delicious Saturday brunch with the family.
Try to chicken Gorgonzola pasta! Such amazing flavours!
We wil be back.
Great food and service...legendary roast chicken. Nice wine list. Love the private room too
Service was slow
Always liked Homer St; had not been for a year, but the noise level now is intolerable, in no small part owing to the loud, meaningless, stupid music that contributes nothing to the experience of dining there. So we will not be back.
Waitress Julie was great, house wine and the Mimosa were not so good, maybe oxidized. Food very good
We had a lovely time and the late evening happy hour options were fantastic!!!
We had a great time! Awesome food - fresh and well made. Great server - attentive and informed. Love the room - warm and fun. Loud but not too loud you have to yell. Awesome pulled chicken. Superb raspberry cheesecake dessert.
Food at the Homer Street cafe was very good with a wide selection for meat lovers and vegetarians. Atmosphere was casual and comfortable
Great food, as always, but found the staff to be a bit inattentive on this visit and the greeter to be a bit "rude" and unhelpful. This is a great coaching opportunity for management to educate their staff.
Wonderful, as usual. Great food, awesome (attentive without being overbearing) service and lively vibe.
Great and varied menu, food all very well cooked and presented. The rooms are beautiful, well decorated without getting generic or excessively quirky, just smart and tasteful. The wine list by the glass isn’t very interesting - too many insipid BC wines for my taste, not enough unusual ones to match the well considered menu - but cocktails are a solid mix of original and classic. We had scallops with trout roe, and striploin. Both beautiful, pretty on their elongated oval plates, and deliciously seasoned.
