Homer Street Cafe & Bar
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.
Gulf Islands mussel escabeche, carrot risotto
savoury herb vinaigrette, gremolata
cocoa nib crumble, chia jam
It doesn't matter what you pick on this menu because literally everything is fantastic.
The pork belly is particularly excellent if you need a recommendation.
Always reliable and delicious! Excellent service too and amazing coffee.
Our first meal out since the whole COVID situation started in March and the Homer Street Cafe did not disappoint. While it was unfortunate that the rotisserie was having an issue that day the meal was still excellent and the service was as well. Should have shared the dessert but I got to enjoy the remainders the next day. A very pleasant surprise to have a complimentary sparking wine precede our meal but that set the tone for the evening. I strongly recommend both this and its sister restaurant, Le Tableau (still closed at the moment) for anyone looking for a casual dinner out.
Food was tasty, although portion sizes were quite small for brunch considering the price. I think there were a total of 4 hashbrowns on my plate. Our server was friendly, but the service slow. Overall a good experience.
There was a huge delay in drinks and food. Waited about ~20 min for coffee and ~40 minutes for brunch food. But everything was delicious and owner apologized.
Ambience is really the best here! Food was nothing special, but overall we had a nice evening.
Homer street cafe is our lovely neighbourhood night out. The cocktails inventive and the food consistently good and fresh. We miss the larger menu but like that some regular staples and a fresh sheet available. Their covid plan is solid. We felt comfortable. Try the s’mores cheesecake and peanut butter cookies with Nutella.
Maple Pork appetizer is a must, service was kinda meh, but these are strange days...🙃
We came here for my fiancé's birthday as he saw their pork dishes and was interested in trying something new. Right off the bat the waiter told us we didn't have a reservation, luckily a more helpful and friendly waiter/manager(?) corrected him quickly as he had missed it. After having picked what we wanted, we were rudely told that we weren't allowed to order from the main menu, because it was brunch --despite there being a QR code on the menu telling us to use that to access the main menu.. Waiter seemed very elitist and condescending. Disappointing because we weren't interested in having brunch at 2pm. Later heard him making special accommodations for some white lady who wanted something not on the brunch menu. We are visible minorities, so i do wonder..
Food was extremely bland and unimpressive. Will not be back.
Good was amazing. The biscuits and butter are to die for
The staff were great!
We had a nice brunch for my wife’s birthday.
The food was great, eggs Benedict cooked perfectly.
Definitely will come here again.
Consistently excellent - great food and staff... but I missed the coleslaw.
I guess it could be a one off Covid issue. Brunch wasn’t that great. The food was tabled cold. The service was very slow. My medium poached Benny was so cold I ate like a salad. Also we asked in our reservation for a table outside due to Covid but where ignored. Then they proceeded to sit us next to a larger party regardless of our concerns. We where starving by that point and it was to late to make alternative plans. We had to eat adjusting our face masks between bites. I would wait till Covid is over to here.
The food was good. Our server Emily was terrific! She made the experience even that much better. The new outdoor seating on the street is very spacious. It's interesting to sit on the street and watch the cars and pedestrians go by.
The chicken, with the new biscuits and new potatoes, really stepped it up. Outstanding
Loved the patio tonight, service was top notch and felt comfortable that proper precautions were in place to keep everyone distanced and safe. Thanks Homer Street Cafe, the good was delicious and we will for sure be back again!
Great food. Nice atmosphere. Easy to find location.
Wonderful ambience with exceptionally friendly service!
Great place for good food and service!...they have adapted well to the new normal and we felt very comfortable eating here...recommended!
Double date with close friends. We loved it! The food was fantastic and the overall experience was amazing as always! Thank you!!!
We love Homer Street! They have a great happy hour and the room is amazing.
The gnocchi was so good!!!!! Amazing morel mushrooms. Lovely patio with heaters. Good service and delicious cocktails.
Simple night out but my wife and in were blown away with both the food and the level of service. Impossible to pick. Been before and definitely will be back. Very Covid friendly. Loved the digital menus. Never write reviews but felt compelled to do so 6/5 stars
Amazing service and really good food!
Our server was very patient with us as we had two gluten intolerance people having brunch, was attentive and very kind to our birthday girl. The drinks we ordered were very delicious too! Thanks homer street!!
Nice Ambiance, food very average to mediocre
This was my first visit to the Homer St. Cafe but I will definitely return. The food and drinks (cocktails & wine) were wonderful and I felt very safe and clean, given the current COVID-19 pandemic. Thank-you for such a positive first experience.
My favourite restaurant in Vancouver did not disappoint, once again.
Love this restaurant, it has fantastic food with expressive flavors. Great for any time of day and would recommend for any occasion. We were celebrating a birthday and enjoyed the celebrations at Homer!
Great food, drinks and service!
Wonderful Brunch for Fathers Day
Great chicken meal as always. Staff were professional and friendly.
Drinks were fine too.
Always a nice dinner.
Reliably delicious food and excellent service.
Very good experience returning to a restaurant for the first time since Covid. Felt safe, food was WONDERFUL... Dane (our server) did and awesome job of caring for us.
My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary there and it was really good.
Service was superb, and on top of a really good food, they wrote us a nice thank you note and insisted on giving us a free dessert.
Definitely a must in DT Vancouver.
For our first return to a dine-in restaurant post-COVID, we felt extremely comfortable with the serving staff wearing masks and the kitchen staff wearing masks and gloves. Ample separation divided the diners and the staff were all exceptionally friendly, attentive, and appreciative of our return. Great food as always and the staff are always superb!
Brought my dad here for an early Father’s Day brunch. Really great service, manager even came by to say hi and tell us about the history of the space. Loved the brunch menu and cocktails! Will definitely return!
One of our first meals out post-lockdown. The restaurant has implemented safety protocols, including spaced-out seating, masks on all staff members, and digital or single-use menus. The food was delicious, the room was gorgeous as always, and the service was attentive. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Sooooo great to get out again, after the shut down. to Homer st cooks beautiful, palate and gut satisfying food and serves it with grace and due attention.
Thank you and ongoing success.
