Homer Street Cafe & Bar
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

Food was great! Service was extremely spotty, we were approached by staff but too a long time for them to take our order and get cocktails. Had to ask for stuff we ordered often and they just forgot...several times. Food was delicious, the chicken should not be missed. Great location and the patio is lovely.
Excellent as usual. We came for an early dinner before a show. I brought 4 friends. They will all come back.
The staff was great, especially Lauren, the food was great, and the whole vibe is wonderful.
Delicious food and excellent service. Ask for the server's off menu drink recommendations
Chicken was very good, lamb special even better. Very friendly and efficient wait staff. Had a wonderful time!
Homer Street Cafe is always consistent with great food , service and smart cocktails !
What a wonderful night had here. Was recommended and did not disappoint. Food and service - impeccable!!
Great lunch but sad to hear that they had no fried chicken skin today and that they are taking it off the menu :(.
Consistently good all around. Never been disappointed.
Always a classic with great food and better service
Excellent food and service, but incredibly loud music made it necessary to shout at the person 2 feet away. I don't understand the philosophy of this? Is it to keep the bartenders awake?
We celebrated my friend's birthday on the patio. Food and service were superb. I have dined there on several occasions. My only suggestion would be to turn down the volume of the music. Inside the restaurant on by the patio entrance, the music was too loud for conversation. It should be more in the background and not competing with conversation.
Snacks and refreshments after our sons grad ceremony. The food was delicious and where we were located was perfect for our group.
Robyn, our server, was so nice, friendly and kind. All servers in the industry should be like Robyn ! Thanks for being great !
Perfect for a pre-concert meal. Service was fast and impeccable. Good selection of food, which was very well prepared and plated. Limited wine & beer selection but good possibilities. Exceeded expectations on all counts. Will come again!
Exceptional as usual. We will continue to wa here each time we visit Vancouver area from Portland.
Excellent staff, location and atmosphere! You can't beat their chicken! My GF is vegetarian and had a great meal as well!
Kristina is the best manager in the city, made our experience amazing!
We were seated in the 'cafe' section of the restaurant which is quite delightful. Service and food were very good. Only downside was the noise level from a large nearby group - not sure if anything can be done about that but it detracted from the cozy cafe vibe. Otherwise would recommend it.
My 3rd Visit and I would certainly come back again! Great food, ambience and service!
On the edge of Yaletown. Good, attentive service. A small, cozy outdoor seating area. The snacks and starters are great for small appetites or combining two for a larger portion. Highly recommend the crab & avocado salad. Interesting presentation and tasty. My friend had 2 snacks, the maple leaf pork belly and the crispy chicken skins and would recommend for flavours.
We did notice a long table in the upper area which would be good for small groups. Many of the tables in the upper area are tall tables & chairs. These are not the most comfortable for dining but the lower area, at the corner of Smythe & Homer, has regular sized tables all of which can be reserved.
Best baked chicken skin! Too bad they sell out fast. Best seating for 4 persons, we had a family dinner, and it was perfect. The day we went the indoor exhaust was not strong enough, the rotisserie chicken smell would likely lingered on clothing. Very pleasant dining outdoors that day, so opted for that. They have heaters so we felt comfortable throughout the dinner.
Great for after theatre meal. We arrived early as our show ended early. We also had an extra person on tow. We were quickly and easily accommodated. The food and service were great.
A very pleasant meal with fine service. The chicken liver mousse was divine.
So for all the hype it was lackluster at best. Two of us ordered the avacado and spinach benedict and the others the pork belly sausage combo. The food was good. The toast was burnt and the servers seemed uninterested. I would go back to sit outside and have drinks but that's about it.
A wonderful dinner on a beautiful patio. Excellent service by our waiter, Eric, and we would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Our second visit was as delightful as our first. If you're looking for calm and quiet, this is not your spot--but we were there early for a pre-show dinner and the noise-level was comfortable. As before, service was prompt, thoughtful, and friendly but unobtrusive. We shared 2 delicious appies at the Happy Hour price, then on to 2 excellent seafood entrees: the scallops and a halibut special. The lemon tart and a good strong coffee topped off a thoroughly delicious meal--all of it nicely timed to get us to the theatre on time. Simple but elegantly presented food, expertly and hospitably served. We'll be back again.
Really great roast of the day, they nailed the aesthetic they were going for and the service was nice.
It was good overall. Service was good where our server wasn’t too pushy. Food was decent.
Lovely room with great service. Roast chicken is amazing and the veg sides excellent. Try the beet salad for an app. In a ‘hood of “see and be seen” places this one is comfy, pleasant and relaxed.
My favourite place to eat for special occasions! I recently went here for my graduation brunch!
Highly recommend this place for brunch. Pork belly + applewood sausage + potatoes + toast + eggs = the only breakfast you'll ever need to eat.
Had a good meal on the outdoor patio. Service was very good and would recommend this restaurant
Awesome food and great service, VERY attentive staff. My second time there and I will be back again, cocktails were perfect! I never order chicken at a restaurant because I make it so much at home, but I ordered it this time and it was so good, the au jus makes it (requested dark meat a few mins after I ordered and it was no problem). Everyone at the table (6 people) ordered different dishes, and everybody was very happy. Appetizers were fantastic too, the pork belly, hummus, and seafood corquettes were super tasty!
Also,I didn’t realize they have a patio until we left, next time!
This place never disappoints. I go here all the time and just keep coming back!
Excellent food and service. Noisy so harder to carry on a conversation.
Went here to celebrate a graduation. Delicious food (maple pork belly!!) for a reasonable price with top notch service!
We had a small family gathering and really enjoyed the service, food and nice ambiance. The charcuterie board was small, but tasty. We’ll definitely keep the Homer St. Bar and Cafe on our list of great places to meet for good food.
Everything was good, except I’m a bit disappointed that although I mentioned in my reservation that it’s for someone’s birthday, nothing was done to acknowledge this. Not even a small candle on a free dessert. Maybe this restaurant doesn’t care about ‘special occasions ‘.
It used to be better I’ve been here several times. Service was great, ambience is unique but the food menu and taste has deteriorated I left feeling unsatisfied and hungry after paying $70 for two people.
Homer Street Cafe is my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. It is where we take any out of town guests and it is where we do family dinners. Its beautiful and relaxed atmosphere and excellent food made from quality ingredients never disappoint. The service too is impeccable and friendly. We love the halibut, steak and rotisserie hicken dishes. HSC is great for brunches too.
