Homer Street Cafe & Bar
Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

Perfect spot for a weekend brunch. Loved that I could make a reservation. Friendly service and delicious food. Try the Benny and save room for the peanut butter cookies with Nutella cream!
One of my favourite places to eat in the city! Great service and even better food! Love love love the happy hour menu and the daily specials!
enjoyed our meal. Four guys before going to VIFF movie. Waiter and kitchen accommodated one guests request for hamburger off lunch menu. Much appreciated. First drinks were a bit slow to table; otherwise a very pleasant time.
I like the ambience of this building, the staff is lovely and the food is delicious -- what more can one ask for a night out in Vancouver?
Lovely restaurant with nice architectural detail, good food and great service! Quaint outdoor patio. Just a couple of blocks from the hub of downtown Granville area. Reasonable parking one block over on Richards street.
Never disappointed at this restaurant however many of the seats are very cozy. Recommend the maple pork belly. Good portion sizes friendly staff
I have an anaphylactic food allergy, and the wait and kitchen staff were respectful and very careful with my order, answering my questions patiently. Much appreciated!
Really lovely staff, who worked as a team. Each person you passed greeted you and acknowledged you as you left the restaurant.
Food was delicious, fast and well priced. Service was prompt and professional.
Informal family brunch for Thanksgiving recommended by our son. Good eats, great company, good server and really enjoyed the ambiance. Will be back soon! Thank you.
I would eat at the Homer Café every night of the weak if I could.
it is my favorite place in Vancouver. The food is always excellent and the service is consistent.
Just wish they had a more adventuresome beer menu.
Thought the basic brunch lacked creativity... two poached eggs, a sausage, piece of Pork Belly..... side salad. That was it.... no sauces, no flair. Waitress forgot the toast... not necessary, but with such a bland presentation could have had all the help it could get. Partner had a burger.... nothing special. I'm sure that they had better options..... just poor choices from us.
Excellent menu with a nice variety of snacks & appetizers.
The service was exemplary.
A bit on the noisy side but the comfort level definitely compensated.
Will certainly return !!!
The specialty of the house, rotisserie chicken, was dry and served with about 10 small potatoes and the tiniest bowl of cole slaw. I ordered the smoked fish croquettes to start which were quite greasy. Very under impressed with the quality of the food. I've eaten here before and the food was decent but doubt very much that I would try again.
Two friends and I had dinner pre-theatre and it was my first visit there. Our server was excellent and cognizant of our time constraints . Food was excellent. I'll definitely go back often.
Amazing food, service and impressive room. Loved everything.
A few weeks ago, I attended the Homer St Cafe for a work event and the food and service was great. So yesterday I wanted to take my husband and some friends there to share the experience with them. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. After we were seated, we waited over 10 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. Throughout the night, there was a significant delay between the time we finished our drinks and when we were asked if we wanted something else. The food also took quite a while to come out. Other service issues also included the fact that the waitress took a friends dessert drink order but not our dessert order at the same time, so the drinks came out before the dessert. The dessert drinks and dessert should have come out at the same time. We were seated at 5:20 p.m. and did not leave the restaurant until almost 9 p.m. We were late to attend a friend's event.
All good great ambiance reasonable valve
Well above average servce, excellent quality food. Would like to see some more lunch options but that's not really a complaint more of a suggestion
Packed and noisy, not a good venue for a quiet supper. Mediocre service, gave us the wrong wine when we ordered a second glass, average food, and expensive for what we had - just not a great restaurant when there is so much local competition.
Excellent steak - best we have ever tasted! My Mother and I are visiting from England and I noticed Homer Street whilst on a bus tour of the city. We were looking forward to the rotisserie chicken only to find everyone had ordered it before us and it had all gone! (There were more chickens on the spit!) That was a blessing in disguise as the steak was delicious. Service was excellent and waitress’ Knowledge of the wine was very good. Only downside was sitting next to a loud English girl who thought we all wanted to hear her life stories!
We had a wonderful meal. The roasted chicken was delicious. We shared a chicken for 4 people plus a couple of sides and it was plenty and very reasonably priced.
I felt the noise level was great! Waitress wasnt always tentive to listening to customers orders. Your food was mediorcor. When you pay $22 for a chicken dinner i expect some taste. Coleslaw was oversized and hard to chew. Potaoes tasteless. Over cooked pork! All in all not worth returning for🙁
I had made a reservation through open table for 2pm- the hosts seemed confused when I got to their stand. Weren’t sure where to seat me. Waited at the bar until 2:20 to be seated. Service was okay. Not very present, maybe I as too busy. They forgot my friends salad and had ran out of a few items. Coffee was delicious though.
Heard great things about homer street cafe so was so excited to try it- but it fell flat for me.
Excellent service & food, we could stay late, everything was great!
Homer Street Cafe is one of our favourite spots for birthday celebrations with the family. We were seated in the Cock Pit (a private room upstairs with a wall covered in rooster paintings) and enjoyed fantastic service from the staff. We come here 4-5 times a year for birthdays because the food is always good and the range of foods available covers the different foods that our family requires (both dietary and catering to different needs. The kitchen was able to customize the menu items for dairy free and spices that had to be avoided.
The service tonight was noticeably excellent as always, and the food and drinks were also fantastic. Another great dining experience.
A year ago our daughter arranged my husband's 70th birthday, in the private room upstairs, & it was wonderful. She ordered a set menu for our family of 10, including 4 children. It was a meat extravaganza, with great veggie sides. So, when we went back, just the two of us, we were looking forward to a great meal. We shared a roasted beet salad, which was soggy, I had the pasta special, which was too salty, & my husband had the roast chicken, which he said was just ok. We were so disappointed. Our server was very apologetic & took the salad off our bill, but the experience was not what we hoped for. The main part of the restaurant is very lively, so not amenable to pleasant conversation. Great for a fun night out with a group, but for a couple wanting an intimate dinner...not!
When we arrived 10min early for our 6:45 reservation the hostess greeted us with the comment, “You need to be aware your table needs to be turned over for another reservation by 9:30.”
How is this our responsibility?
I acknowledged this rude greeting by stating we would not linger over our dinner.
Wouldn’t the time constraint be the responsibility of the wait staff?
Should not the waiter be attentive to service and facilitate the customer leaving before the next reservation?
Great place to celebrate our anniversary. It was delicious, great service and hip vibe. Will be back.
Danielle was a great waitress and gave good recommendations.
Food was first class. Really good location and ambience.
Food was good but lower level is too cold. They need a better ventilation system other than just leaving the door open. Cold & rainy night! Had to keep my coat on.
What a treat it was to have brunch at the Homer Street Café. The Hollandaise sauce was verging on the miraculous!
The appetizers were delicious, the burger was ok. That said overall tasty food! I like there.
Homer Street was excellent! The food was amazing, the service was great, and generally we felt very happy with our meal.
Was a nice place, was a good atmosphere, and fairly busy, would have preferred to have been at the back of the restaurant if I went again, food was tasty and chicken well cooked!
Overall a very pleasant dining experience with friends. Service, food and atmosphere were ideal
I had a great time. Ran into a friend and met another Patron. I partook of a few more items from the menu to taste. I might've enjoyed this particular visit more than the previous ones...which were excellent themselves!!
This venue is so rich in diversity in tastes as well as seating choices to make every time you dine here a unique experience. Today I sat at a patio table. Delicious brunch. New (to me) drinks that were so tasty and my server was great and charming.
I love how the different spaces at this venue gives a unique vibe. I've sat in all sections and the patio is still my fav despite some tables are just tad too close. We both enjoyed our entrées and the ability to make a reservation here for good brunch makes my day. The pork chop was made perfectly and was still tender which is a tough feat esp when fried. I couldn't fault a thing as everything from the brunch to the drinks, food and service was spot on. I look forward to my next visit.
Fantastic food - I had the trout and my husband had chicken and both were amazing! The chocolate pudding was unreal! Really great service too! We were celebrating our anniversary, so the server brought out 2 glasses of (complimentary) champagne when we sat down. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful with a relaxed vibe. We will definitely go back!
The only slight downfall was I felt that the portions were quite modest for the price. Having said that, the quality of food and flavour was outstanding.
Came here on Saturday for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. She ordered the trout and I had the steak. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked. I will definitely be back!
