Housed in two of Vancouver’s most iconic buildings, Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown district.
Classic comfort cooking takes center stage thanks to a fire engine red rotisserie that roasts all manner of proteins. It’s chicken that’s the star here: served in quarter, half or whole portions, accompanied by classic sides basted in jus.
A decidedly adventurous wine and cocktail list rounds out the menu. The restaurant features two spaces that consist of an open concept kitchen “Chef’s Bar” where one can get up close and personal with the culinary team, a semi private dining room with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling.

    The changes at Homer St are not nice. The once lovely chicken platter now comes with chicken only. All the gorgeous sides have left the platter and some can be ordered a la carte, and which makes it poor value. My chicken was tasty, but had a non browned or crisp skin. My “mock tail” for 12$ was a 4oz San Pellegrino pop. My friend’s wine was 14$, which actually made sense. The food was pretty good and service was very attentive, but it’s lost the mojo for me. Restaurant business must be tough these days.

    The quality and price of food was ridiculous. 32.00 for some small strips of brisket was outrageous. The Cobb salad was more like a wedge salad. Coho salmon was ok, but again price point was crazy. Music was too loud. Had friends in from the US and it was very disappointing. The only good thing was the Negroni. Service was good. You can do better Homer Street Cafe.

    Food is wonderful and service is friendly and attentive. The only issue with this restaurant is how noisy it is. We felt like we were yelling at each other across the table. For me, it wasn't relaxing or enjoyable but for others it might be energizing.

    Great drinks, original and well balanced. All the food, apps, entrees, desserts was well prepared and tasty. Service is outstanding with lots of staff. Great place to hang out for an evening. Music was a little loud for our taste, but we’re middle-aged and realize that’s a hazard in a lot of restaurants!

    The food was good and our server very nice and attentive. My only complaint is that the person who sat us down didn't really give us a choice of table even though the restaurant was half empty (and stayed that way). While walking through the restaurant afterward, I saw there would have been many more tables in much better location than where he sat us down. I like music and energetic atmosphere, but the volume was way too high, at least from where we were sitting down, right next to the door.

    I visited this restaurant for the first time. We booked our table in advance and we expected that we can have seats by the window. However, we had a table a bit private area and other customers were already there. They were talking very loud and looked like birthday party. The room was dark and the other customers was very loud so we had to talk also loud voice….otherwise, can’t hear our conversation. The food looked OK but roco moco was very salty (my friends food also were salty). If we could have a table by the window, I wouldn’t complain so much. I think I don’t go this restaurant again. Overall was 3 stars.

    My daughter recommended Homer Street Café for first night in Vancouver. My mom, my sister and I had a delightful meal on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed everything about our evening. Marco was absolutely perfect as a server — charming, helpful, and attentive without hovering. The food was delicious. We shared 4 plates between us — just right for our appetites.

    Food was amazing and they were super accommodating for our last minute additions to the reservation. Our server was super slow though and I feel like it was due to there being a backlog from the kitchen. Our food took 40 minutes to come out and drinks were slow too.

    Homer is my to go restaurant. Love happy hour and dinner. Brunch is not outstanding, but I’m not a brunch person so maybe it’s me. Still, Homer st. Cafe is my first choice to go and have a good time.

    The staff were incredible, highly knowledgeable and fast. Steven the owner/manager went above and beyond to help us with getting a great wine and was a wealth of knowledge. Great experience and a great energy there.

    Nice little place. Great atmosphere. They have lots of seating options, but most of them are fairly loud (either kitchen noise, road noise, or music), so be prepared for that. We had to wait for a good 20 minutes and ask twice for a server before we got anything. We did come right at opening and they had a lot of people coming all at once, so I don't imagine this is normal. We also explained that we had to leave by a certain time and the staff were great at accommodating us. Food was pretty decent, but not exactly amazing. Overall we would definitely come back here again.

    Although this restaurant is noisy..it’s a lively, happy noise so we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Amanda was our waitress and she was kind, happy and knowledgeable. Her advice on drinks and food was spot on. The fried mushrooms were very tasty and the chicken with gravy was as good as I’ve tasted.

    Our waitress, Rahel was awesome! Loved her and her and her recommendations. The food was so good. We did the “rotisserie”. It was a nice take on BBQ which we know well being from Texas. The broccoli was a favorite of mine as was the ribs and chicken. If I lived in Vancouver, I’d go again

    I went during happy hour. The taste of the food was average. For the price I was paying, I was expecting a lot more. The service was extremely slow. I think it took almost half an hour from the time we ordered for our drinks to arrive, and another half an hour for the first dish to arrive. Luckily, we weren't in a hurry to go anywhere. We needed the full 2 hour dining time that our reservation was allotted for. The restaurant has a nice ambience. However, some of the areas are showing its age. The washrooms are in need of some care and repairs. The sink in the washroom was filled after I washed my hands.

    Amazingly delicious food and excellent service. Rotisserie chicken is the best!! My husband and I have been here many times over the years and have also taken out for at-home and picnic fare. Servers are attentive, especially yesterday when Brooke tended to our every whim and kept a watchful eye on her tables. The only down side is, when dining inside versus outdoors, the music and surrounding "energetic" sounds impede on table conversations, especially for those of us in the elder category.
