Had a great casual dinner with the perfect service level. Recommend family restaurant.
We had a great time and both felt the food was better than it was the last time we were there. The only minor criticism is that the waitress seemed a bite pushy or in a rush and we clearly were not in a rush.
Lovin’ the Asian stir-fry!
Great food, waiters are attentive without being overbearing. Great spot for a pre-theater meal!
Taking my brother out for his favourite meal; Corned Beef and Cabbage. I love going to the Hot House, this is my go to restaurant for lunch. We both ordered the St Patrick’s day special Corned Beef and Cabbage, the Corned Beef and potatoes were as expected amazing; unfortunately the cabbage was savoy cabbage (we would have preferred regular cabbage) and it was under cooked; really tough to eat. The service was good, and overall again I love this restaurant and will definitely come back again.
One of my family’s favourite places. Will come back often.
Arturo was our server. He’s the best. Our second time at Hot House. Perfect for dinner before a show.
A regular local restaurant. Very disappointed. Not busy - service was extremely slow, one meal had been sitting under heat lamps for an extended period - looked dried out and unappetizing. Waitress did take it back but think they just mixed it up and reheated in microwave. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend.
Huge selection on the menu . Two of us ordered mussels and calamari each and shared; both were excellent! There is a very good selection of beers on tap and craft brews as well. Our thin crust pizza was just right to share after the first courses. It was a fine meal, good service and fair prices. Too bad it is so noisy!
Was disappointed, my fault I guess, didn’t think that it was a Monday, therefore no buffet. However I found the breakfast table to be very poor with food options. Scones were not good at all. No cheeses, no sweets, except for waffles. The whipping cream was in a huge bowl, left uncovered for hours, and started getting very soggy by the time I got a look at it.
This experience was nowhere close to the experiences I’ve had with brunch in the past at the Hothouse
Great location, nice atmosphere, our server was very kind.
Pizza not the greatest, but otherwise a great place.
Nice to see they are renovating. Was disappointed that the menu had changed since I was last there but then I had the Asian stir fry and now have a new favourite. So good!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first time at the Hot House. The service was friendly and efficient, the food served quickly, arrived hot and was delicious. I would definitely go again the next time I am downtown Toronto.
Great Valentines Menu
Wife and I like to come to the Valentines Day Prix Fix Special every year since we got
married 14 years ago due to the consistent
quality of food and service value and the great ambiance. No surprise. When we got married 14 years ago, we held our Wedding Reception here in the Hot House Private
Dining Room. Many thanks to the Hot House for great memories old and new.

Enjoyed the selection of food available and had very attentive and friendly staff.
I truly love this restaurant and am Never disappointed.
Dinner experience and restaurant accommodating with dietary restrictions. Trout was done well but a little too much oil on vegetables. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
excellent Winterlicious meal, especially enjoyed the short ribs
Loved the Winterlicious menu. It is a bit of a hike from my office BUT well worth the trip, looking forward to Summerlicious!
Christopher R is a super server with a great sense of humour, We would recommend you request him as your server.
We ordered drinks, appetizers and dessert, they all were amazing. Food is excellent specially curry mussels. Our waitress Janice was so sweet and considerate, took care of us very well. We enjoyed the date night it was totally worth every penny.
We had a lovely evening. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly! We will definitely come back
I was very disappointed in the quality of the Winterlicious dinner I chose. My three friends meals were mostly ok. The soup tasted like raw spices. The pasta dish was overcooked and did not have the sauce on the menu. The panna cotta was grainy and not like any one I have ever had before. Our server was great but the staff bringing out the meals were not timing things well....we were all served at different times.
Excellent as always. Never had a disappointing meal there.
The atmosphere was great. Relaxing and causal. The servers were knowledgeable and attentive.
Great service. Good food. Will go back for sure.
The Winterlicious menu never disappoints! I will continually visit your establishment for many years to come. The food was delivered fast, hot and it was absolutely delicious!
The pannacotta was grainy and had a strange texture. The lentil shepherds pie needed more seasoning and some of theclentils werent cooked fully.
I have always enjoyed dining at Hot House - a favourite!
Great service, gluten free options available let your server know so they ensure your food is free of any traces. Warm ambiance nice wine selection..they are also participating in winterlicious great menu
I really enjoyed my Winterlicious meal at the Hot House and the service was excellent.
Excellent food. Prices are not cheap but you get what you pay for. Definetly worth more than one visit. Service was excellent.
Really enjoyable. The Jambalaya is amazing. Tiramisu is not to be missed. Don't think of leaving without trying the applewood-smoked cocktail bourbon with bitters and maple syrup, served in a flask with the smoke still swirling above the liqueur. In winter, get a seat away from the doors and windows on cold days.
First time and it was a very good experience. Creative menu items, good for all foodies with vegetarian options. Portion size was large and service was good. Ambiance was very nice. Went with 4 adults and everyone enjoyed their meal- great value for money in downtown Toronto.
As I have said on a previous review, the Hothouse is our local go to restaurant.
It has something for everyone. I do not remember an evening meal that we have not enjoyed there
Keep up the good work.
Even the temporary outside washrooms are clean warm and have great music!
Washrooms are currently under renovation. An unlocked, outhouse has been set up outside of the restaurant on the patio. This would be unacceptable at any time, but most especially in mid-winter.
Food is pretty good and prices are reasonable, but wait until the renovations are complete before dining here.
Last night's meal was somewhat disappointing. The Caesar salad was wilted. The fish special was so-so but the vegetables were drenched in oil. The tiramisu, however, was excellent - as always. I asked for a table by the south window but was assigned an interior table without explanation or apology. I hope this is not an indication of what is to be expected from the new ownership.
Except for having to leave to use the bathroom
Outside, it was a great experience with excellent service
I wanted to start of by saying that this place is an institution. I have gone for many years. I made a reservation through open table on Wednesday as i was booking based on the evening buffet, we were a group with growing boys and good appetites. But when got there we were told that this time of year in January they dont have the buffet. That was ok and understandable.
However had i know that the restaurant was under renos and the mens bathroom was outside in the cold in a trailer. I would likely not made a reservation that time, as this was a pre theater meal. We also had a birds eye view of people going in and out of the bathroom. Which in the end we found humor.
Might i suggest that hothouse let us know on there website that they are under renos.
Again this isnt going to stop me from coming back, but it definitely didnt give a good last impression
