Absolutely an outstanding experience! Excellent wait staff and attention despite a large party beside us. In and out in under an hour when requested so we could make a show. Returned later that night for dessert. Highly recommend!
A very pleasant lunch. Server was friendly and attentive.
We chose Hothouse for our pre-theatre dinner because of it's proximity to the Elgin Theatre and because of its understated atmosphere. We had my 89 year old mom with us who has both vision and hearing loss and we really appreciate that it never seems to get too loud or too dark. The friendly staff and the good food definitely made a great impression on my mom (My wife and I had already been there 3-4 times before so we knew what to expect :) ). I have no hesitation in recommending Hothouse to others.
Friendly staff, quick service and good food. We will come back.
the server was pleasant as always -the location is good for theatre goers - we should have had the Saturday Prix Fixe meal - it would have been a better value. One of our choices was the Cappelleti - the meal was definitely hot - the sauce good - the pasta not very good. I have chosen better entrees on other occasions.
Reserved for 11pm.
Showed up 30 minutes earlier, was told that it was "last call" for kitchen.
Why would you take a reservation at 11pm if the kitchen is closing?
Disappointing service, didn't feel welcome.
Restaurant is under renovation, I would make sure my customers feel very well taken care of.
Place was completely empty, we were ask to split the group on 2 tables (14 people total) anyway for easier service. Did not make sense, felt like we were an annoyance for the service team.
Won't be going back.
As always fantastic. Thanks for keeping my Zinfandel on hand.
It was okay but we went specifically for the brunch buffet. We had 3:39 reservations but were not notified the last seating for the buffet was at 3;00 so we were rushed and disappointed.
Once again the buffet was outstanding. The roast of beef was done to perfection as we're the many pasta dishes. I very much enjoy our time there. Our reservation was for 3:30 so many of the desserts were gone however, after so much food we didn't much. The little lemon squares we're so tangy, they were fabulous. This year the desserts were in a different location. My guest and I both use walkers so it was difficult transversing the stairs...but we did. We preferred the original location. Mind you, it appeared to be much busier than usual and seating was in the dessert area.
We are planning out next trip.
Four of us had a very good dinner served by a particularly attentive sever. She made our dinner even more pleasurable.
The food was okay for Saturday brunch, but for the price And menu options probably better going somewhere else in the area. I prefer to go to their Sunday buffet brunch as it is a better value and will try Wednesday dinner buffet next time!
The only issue was I booked weeks in advance and requested a booth in church st side.
When the first of my party arrived the woman at desk could not find the reservation (even though I had answered the confirmation email a day prior). She told her to sit anywhere.
She had found the reservation by the time I arrived but all booths were full so we couldn’t move.
All good. Great seafood pasta.
Great location for any activities along Front St. These people have nailed it as far as great food, excellent servers and pleasant ambiance - not easy for such a large restaurant. Mgmt and servers were all eager to look after our every need. Food was amazing - each item had a little twist of something that set it apart from similar dishes elsewhere.
We were welcomed immediately with a smile and shown to our table. Our waiter Rob was fantastic. We loved our dinner and the whole experience. We will be back!
I’ve been eating here since the 90’s and they never fail to impress.
i would normally order a pasta and should have. Instead I ordered the special, being fish and chips. Fish was very dry and the french fries were frozen fries. For these prices I would expect, at the very least, fresh cut potatoes for the fries. The waiter was very good, however.
Continues to be the go-to restaurant that I have enjoyed for over 23 years!
Intimate environment where we could intimately reminisce and share stories
Had a great casual dinner with the perfect service level. Recommend family restaurant.
We had a great time and both felt the food was better than it was the last time we were there. The only minor criticism is that the waitress seemed a bite pushy or in a rush and we clearly were not in a rush.
Lovin’ the Asian stir-fry!
Great food, waiters are attentive without being overbearing. Great spot for a pre-theater meal!
Taking my brother out for his favourite meal; Corned Beef and Cabbage. I love going to the Hot House, this is my go to restaurant for lunch. We both ordered the St Patrick’s day special Corned Beef and Cabbage, the Corned Beef and potatoes were as expected amazing; unfortunately the cabbage was savoy cabbage (we would have preferred regular cabbage) and it was under cooked; really tough to eat. The service was good, and overall again I love this restaurant and will definitely come back again.
One of my family’s favourite places. Will come back often.
Arturo was our server. He’s the best. Our second time at Hot House. Perfect for dinner before a show.
A regular local restaurant. Very disappointed. Not busy - service was extremely slow, one meal had been sitting under heat lamps for an extended period - looked dried out and unappetizing. Waitress did take it back but think they just mixed it up and reheated in microwave. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend.
Huge selection on the menu . Two of us ordered mussels and calamari each and shared; both were excellent! There is a very good selection of beers on tap and craft brews as well. Our thin crust pizza was just right to share after the first courses. It was a fine meal, good service and fair prices. Too bad it is so noisy!
Was disappointed, my fault I guess, didn’t think that it was a Monday, therefore no buffet. However I found the breakfast table to be very poor with food options. Scones were not good at all. No cheeses, no sweets, except for waffles. The whipping cream was in a huge bowl, left uncovered for hours, and started getting very soggy by the time I got a look at it.
This experience was nowhere close to the experiences I’ve had with brunch in the past at the Hothouse
Great location, nice atmosphere, our server was very kind.
Pizza not the greatest, but otherwise a great place.
Nice to see they are renovating. Was disappointed that the menu had changed since I was last there but then I had the Asian stir fry and now have a new favourite. So good!
We thoroughly enjoyed our first time at the Hot House. The service was friendly and efficient, the food served quickly, arrived hot and was delicious. I would definitely go again the next time I am downtown Toronto.
Great Valentines Menu
Wife and I like to come to the Valentines Day Prix Fix Special every year since we got
married 14 years ago due to the consistent
quality of food and service value and the great ambiance. No surprise. When we got married 14 years ago, we held our Wedding Reception here in the Hot House Private
Dining Room. Many thanks to the Hot House for great memories old and new.

Enjoyed the selection of food available and had very attentive and friendly staff.
I truly love this restaurant and am Never disappointed.
Dinner experience and restaurant accommodating with dietary restrictions. Trout was done well but a little too much oil on vegetables. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
excellent Winterlicious meal, especially enjoyed the short ribs
Loved the Winterlicious menu. It is a bit of a hike from my office BUT well worth the trip, looking forward to Summerlicious!
Christopher R is a super server with a great sense of humour, We would recommend you request him as your server.
