I did not like the menu changes as most of my favourite dishes were removed or changed. I ordered the Asian stir fry with chicken and it was very oily. The crab cakes are more potato than crab. The wild boar bolognese was still delicious. The caesar salad was bland but the diavolo pizza was good. Mixed review. It took a while to receive the appetizer and we had to ask for refills as they weren't offered.
Love Hothouse and staff, always welcoming and friendly...food always good, never disapoints..
The food was very well prepared and presented, enjoyed by all in the group. The server was very pleasant and attentive, he was able to prepare an 'off the menu' gluten free/ vegetarian option that was much appreciated.
The only negative aspect of the evening was that for the first half hour we had to endure the noise and antics of a group of students who did not appear to have any adult supervision, nor did the service staff try to contain them. Their volume, jostling and bumping in and out of the connecting booth was very annoying. While I do enjoy youthful enthusiasm I do not appreciate poor manners.
My seafood pizza was very good. I loved the sparkling water and the size of the bottle it comes in was very good at keeping me hydrated. The servers were all very friendly and professional and I was very happy that the price for refilling my drinks was kept to a minimum. However, I do wish they would serve Coke products instead of Pepsi products because unlike Coke, Pepsi is too sweet to mix with rum and other liquors that I like.
Came here for dinner and we both ordered the prix-fix menu. The striploin was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, the half rack of ribs was sweet and tender too. Overall was a good experience.
Haven’t been here for almost 15 years. Had a great table where we could people watch. Really liked both the entree and dessert. Service was attentive. Will come again.
The Hot House has been a long favourite of mine, since moving to Toronto at the turn of the century. The menu and staff changes, but the quality of food and service has always been above par. Always a pleasure to go there, especially for the fantastic Sunday brunch.
The food and service were excellent as always. We are looking forward to the patio renovations.
Overall the Food was very good. The CrabCakes were amazing.
The Chicken was very grisley and not chewable. We couldn't finish it. Bad cuts of meat.
The big issue was the service, we were the only ones in the restaurant and our waitress forgot our order 3x
Overall 2* restaurant.
The dishes were typical and the cooking was ordinary. The presentation was from mass production, diner style...
The service was basic but not attentive. I need to ask for refill of water. This could just be an individual case.
This was a casual dinner but staff attended to our needs as if it was special. They made recommendations, followed through on special needs as if was an everyday matter and not in need of explanation on our part. Delivery was timely and food was great. This was not the first time for us and it will not be the last. Thanks team, well done.
This is my go-to restaurant for any number of occasions, whether it's someone leaving the company or just a beautiful, warm day to sit in the sun. I almost always order the wild boar bolognese and my friend and co-worker always has the lasagna. Neither of us has ever not thoroughly enjoyed our meal. In the summer, try to get a table outside. Wonderful atmosphere and one of the owners is frequently there at lunch. They love their restaurant and it shows! Highly recommended.
I’ve been to this restaurant numerous times during my visits to Toronto. Really love the food, atmosphere, etc. The only minor complaint that I would offer is that once the meal is over, I feel like I’m being rushed out.
I will still patronize this establishment because overall, it is my favourite place in Toronto. The front-line staff are great and service bar none.
Horrible. Was a special occasion, booked with notes stating that it was a birthday, even called to confirm. I get there’s on the day of, nothing was done. No birthday cake, no special greeting, nothing. Horrible service. Do not take for a special occasion
We have been to HHC many times and it is always great: Big menu with lots of interesting items to choose from, and friendly, knowledgeable service.
I made reservations about a month before Mother’s Day. I received a call two days before saying that they overbooked due to an online error and I had the option to take a credit to visit another day or to go to their sister restaurant. I was so disappointed that I told the girl let me think about what I want to do. The next day I was lucky enough that a manager picked up the phone and said don’t worry about it I will have a table when I get there, when I arrived the next day he knew who I was right away! So sweet. Anyways I came here because my co worker recommended it and said she comes every year for Mother’s Day! If you have the chance to come for branch buffet it is worth every dollar ! Customer service is the best, a manager went around to say hi to every table to make sure everyone was happy. The lasagna is really good ! People were fighting over watermelon though. Cheesecake selection is great. If your driving I parked the next street over for $10(sat&sun rate). I will definitely come again to see what Wednesday’s dinner buffet is like.
Hot House has been the number 1 spot for me and my guests to enjoy brunch on a Sunday. The good is excellent (so many selections) along with the atmosphere. Amazing as always!!!
First time visit to Toronto and this restaurant was a short walk from our hotel. It was nice that breakfast/ brunch was served until 2pm on Saturday. Nice atmosphere and a nice place to people watch from our window table. Food was good and service was nice, too! We tried to return on Sunday, Mother’s Day, before heading to the airport and found that this restaurant has a Mother’s Day brunch and must be very popular since it was packed! Definitely needed a reservation. Anyway, we had to eat elsewhere.
Excellent service and great food. Can't wait to go again!
I have gone to The Hot House on numerous occasions for lunch. The food and service is always A1.
Had a lovely time. Waitress was very thorough about the menus and also stressed any meal could be substutitude for vegan meal
Service was great, meals were well presented, flavourful and great value for the money.
Food is always consistently good. Service was great.
We meet here every month or so for friends get together. We love the food and great service.
Sunday brunch is worth the cost. lots of selections for the omnivore. Less selection but still okay for vegetarians. salads, meats, bread, fruit and desserts wee plentiful live jazz at 1100. wait staff vey attentive, friendly. I would recommend going. reservations definitely needed as it gets busy. be prepared to wait unless you are there before 1030
We dined here for brunch, and was extremely happy. For the value provided, we ate varied options ranging from cheese tortellini, to waffles, to prime rib. The vibe was right, price point perfect, service was great, and overall we left quite happy.
Food and service were wonderful, as always. Only negative I can think of is that I miss the old supreme of chicken as the newer chicken dishes contain spices that I can't eat.
My daughters and I regularly have lunch at the Hot House whether or not it is an occasion. We hope the new owners won't make any major changes to the menu or the ambiance.
Food was 6 out of 5 as it has been every time before. Post Dinner food coma never been enjoyed more. Chipotle Mussels excellent, lasagna excellent, Steak Excellent, Crab cakes the best, Gnocchi perfect. Service - some of the best I have experienced. Would eat there weekly if I didn't live so far away.
Four of us were celebrating 2 birthdays (a few days apart). We were well liked after by our server & enjoyed our conversation with the manager, who checked in with us.
In error, our waiter brought us the wrong salad. He was more than willing to take it back and bring us the one we had ordered. We were splitting the salad and he brought it already separated on two plates. We had the grapefruit and avocado salad, which was very refreshing. I had the Fettuccini Carbonara, and it was the best I have every had. Our waiter was attentive without hovering. We both really enjoyed our dinner and will be back soon.
A great experience. It always is. It's about a 10-minute walk from the financial district, where all the restaurants are noisy and cramped. This is the remedy.
It was a buffet night. The selections of food and deasert were great. The price was reasonable. Will go back there again.
Needed somewhere to go for a work lunch. Perfect set up for the six of us at a round table. Attentive service but not rushed. Host brought over a coat rack even. Lot s of options on the menu and quick removal of empty dishes. Always enjoyed the Hot House and glad to see its still a place to always consider. Have been for Wednesday night buffet and Sunday brunch too and never disappointed.
Great experience!! The food was varied and delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Great brunch, awesome selection, good service.
It’s a little expensive
The restaurant was very crowded and noisy, but it was Easter Sunday and extremely busy
Great selection of food at the Sunday brunch but the brunch does NOT include beverages like tea and coffee. Beverages are extra... over and above a pricey buffet.
I was treating friends who have become family to an Easter weekend dinner. I've eaten in the Hot House many times and have never had a poor or even standard meal. There's a server in the area by the Front St. windows, whose name do not know, but his attention to good service is wonderful. The food was excellent all round, and the availability of affordable wines is appreciated!
Service was great, food good. Always a pleasure!
