Delightful experience as always! Oysters at happy hour were divine. Then, the lobster bisque is so good, I can’t make myself order anything else as a starter, and everything on the menu is consistently delicious. The family who owns and runs the place have such obvious live and care for their neighbors and customers - it’s a must-do for us every time we’re in the city.

Sad. Menu has seemingly not been updated in the last fifty years. The food is cooked in a Chinese restaurant next door that is under renovation, with food passed through a window. Sea Bass in paper was not sufficiently steamed. Soft shell crabs were dried out little crunchies with gooey brown Chinese sauce, like hoisin gone wrong. Scallop appetizer was not fresh. Paid the bill and left after tasting, not eating. Very disappointing.

My wife and I have been returning to this restaurant year in and year out. It is always a High Point of our trip to San Francisco. We highly recommend you visit Hyde Street seafood and raw bar restaurant. Johnny and Sophia are such wonderful personalities and always a pleasure to interact with them over dinner. Such great hosts!

Wonaderful decor so intimate and charming service. food better than expected I had the blackened fish and wish it had been more heavily spiced. the vegetables with the fish were fabulous still thinking about the potatoes reminded me of france. portions were large nice local restaurant

We have walked by Hyde Street Seafood for years and never went in. Shame on us! On a cold and windy night this week we had a fabulous dinner there. Half price oysters, shrimp scampi, scallops, reasonable and good wine by the glass and a great chocolate dessert. It was a quiet night there and the service was impeccable. We will be back. Give this under the radar gem in Russian Hill a try!

We went here for my birthday because I wanted seafood. The scallops were tiny but tasty and the sea bass was amazing. The potatoes with the sea bass didn’t have much flavor but the potatoes with the scallops were fabulous! And the staff is so friendly! If I’m ever back in the area, I’d go again!

It was a nice, intimate place to have a meal. It was like walking back into time with the sounds and sight of cable cars running out on the street and the soft music they had playing in the background. Staff was good and attentive. The food was pretty good as well.

Absolutely outstanding local restaurant. I cannot say enough good about it. This is off the track and not as touristy, prices are excellent and food is even better. Our waitress was lovely and sat us early so as not to make us wait in the rain. Try the lobster bisque. 🤌

The 1906 built restaurant has no heating systems. It was 59 degrees inside restaurant. Go in summer. Food was very good as was service.

We were all looking to have fish for our dinner and this restaurant was between an event we went to and where we were staying. We made early dinner reservation 5:30. We arrived and there was only one other table that had guests. We were happy to get inside the restaurant as it was raining outside - however, we realized it was quite cold inside the restaurant. They explained they had no central heat and were using small space heaters to warm the place up - it was 61 degrees inside! We figured it would warm up when more guests arrived. Menu items ordered clam chowder and lobster bisque soups - chowder was good, bisque okay. Appetizer of stuffed mushrooms was mediocre but side salad was swimming in dressing and inedible. Entrees were sole and stuffed trout - both good but not outstanding. Lobster ravioli special was quite flavorful. Creme brulee for dessert which was good. Best part was the happy hour prices for drinks - very good brut rose and a pinot noir. We also ordered a bottle of Sonoma Cutrer. Overall the experience was fair - service was friendly and I think the prices were reasonable for the food we ordered. However, it was not very comfortable sitting inside a cold restaurant. It never really warmed up. There were only two more tables occupied when we left at 7:30. It seemed so odd to us that it was a Saturday night. I would try this place again but only in warmer weather.

This is such a cute little spot located in Nob Hill, serving awesome and delicious seafood. They offer outdoor seating as well, so we sat outside on a nice warm perfect night. Ordered a bottle of sparkling rose and life was good! For food, the Miyagi oysters were top notch. The main entrees consisted of the potato crusted salmon and the stuffed prawns bearnaise--both were delicious! Highly recommend. All in all a great local seafood spot that is fun and tasty!
