    Great staff are what made our meal so memorable. It's a given that at Hy's you'll get a great steak, skillfully prepared. But the staff were super-friendly and helpful and that turns good food into a great meal out.

    We love rib-eye steak and have been to many high end steak houses. We’re from California’s Bay Area which boasts some of the best but they don’t compete with Hy’s steakhouse in Whistler. We started our meal with oysters on the half shell and they were superb along with a glass of Sancerre. Then came the Caesar salad made table side. We know, this salad can actually be somewhat boring, but the ingredients made it one of the best we’ve ever had. Finally, the rib-eye, Chicago style (charred on the outside, perfectly medium rare inside) along with steak frites. With a bottle of pinot, this wad one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time! If you go to whistler, you must go to Hy’s.

    Love the tableside preps. Steak tartare really good. Banana Foster yummy yummy. At a steak house, order steak. Our rare bone in rib steak was really good. Our server was very nice. Will go again.

    Went there to celebrate my husbands birthday and it was my first time dining at Hy’s the food was so tasty and we ordered many appetizers and a main and shared everything equally, the kitchen accommodated splitting the entree for us which was fantastic! Looking forward to going back again!

    Our server, Rich, didn't introduce himself to us, and he was not very friendly to our table but very energetic and attentive to others. The food was delicious except for the Caesar salad. We’ve been to the Vancouver location, and it was less sour. We expressed that the issue to Rich, but he didn’t acknowledge it or offer any solution. Overall, the Vancouver location was way better than this one. It was disappointing.

    Service was very good. The food was fine but definitely not worth the price. I recommend the filet- was lovely. The New York Strip was disappointing. Food should be made with love and not that it didn’t taste good, the love and passion just wasn’t there. Ambiance: restaurant looking a little tired. Needs a refresh. It has been 25 years. Don’t think we will return.

    Food was INCREDIBLE. Very cool to be seated around people who got the banana Forster - like being at a fire show. Must get the Caesar salad - best I’ve ever had. Shout out to server Jeff honestly! So personable and fantastic.

    We were here for the happy hour after a long day up in the mountains and was served by Austin, a lovely server with great table manners. Happy hours at 30% off on sharing and snacking plates and great prices for feature cocktails and beers, meant it was a perfect early and delicious dinner as we knew we were all knackered after a 38* heatwave. The cheese toast is delicious, the lobster roll could be a bit more decadent (I’m spoilt so my taste is bias!) but scrumptious regardless. Cheese toast and tomato soup is perfect if you have little ones, they’ll beg for more. Oysters are half a dozen and on the smaller side (again, bias here as I’ve had meaty oysters all over the world) but love how delicate it is when paired with a light squeeze of the lemon and that gorgeous vinaigrette thing (no clue, just yummy!). The burger is ok (we couldn’t ask for medium as it’s the Canadian law to have mixed ground meat to be cooked well done which is a shame, IMHO). Old-fashioned and whisky sour is part of the HH so I had those and would prefer my whisky sour a touch more full-bodied to create that luxurious mouthfeel which was lacking. It did feel a bit lightweight and leaned more towards the citric acid taste than a full-bodied rounded marriage between the sour and the sweet. Nevertheless, drinkable! We will be back again to celebrate the kiddo’s birthday here in a few days time but highly recommended to go for the HH.

    My wife and I tried out Hy's yesterday for the first time and it did not disappoint. Wonderful food and overall great experience. Definitely will be coming back the next time we are in Whistler!

    We were a party of 5, 3 of us received our meals and waited for the other 2 meals for over 10 mins. I had to ask our server if the other 2 meals were coming. By the time their food arrived and I ate my meal the sauce and steak was warm almost cold. 2 of us ordered the the filet a la hy’s and the meat looked like the ends of the filet…small pieces that were not tender. They were more like little chunks rather than medallions. We always eat at hy’s when in Whistler and may not go back.

    A long standing institution HYs is a great place. The table side servings are outstanding The appetizers and sides are extraordinary The odd thing… and I have heard the from a number of people as well as my own experiences- the least amazing part of the meal is always the steak itself. Not sure why a steak house is so consistently average in their steaks?? Consider the prime rib or the Salomon instead

    We had a wonderful experience at Hy's. Our group of 4 decided to eat in the bar area and we had a great table, service, and full menu. I forget the name of our server, a lovely girl from Ireland, and she took great care of us. We all ordered steak, filets and NY, and they were cooked perfectly. We definitely recommend Hy's to anyone visiting or living in Whistler.
