    Soup not hot. Baked potato crusty skin not enough butter or sour cream. Lettuce not crispy. Husband loved steak perfectly cooked. Our anniversary sat us by 3 men in business meeting. Room was empty. Not at all romantic. Hostess was very professional and friendly.

    The atmosphere was great, there were two musicians playing in the lounge. Service was excellent. Except for the $23 Manhattan. Otherwise it was a great visit and will be back.

    Hy’s is one of my boyfriend and I’s favourite restaurant in Winnipeg. We always look forward to dining with them. Not only is the food & drink amazing, but the ambience of the restaurant is also great. Our favourite server is Kenny as he is by far the best and makes the best Caesar Salad! We do like everyone, we just have our fave.

    Im really disappointed. Took my gf out for our three year anniversary. Service was sub par. Had to ask for butter after ordering steak and lobster. Had to ask for salt and pepper as they were not on the table. We ordered a wonderful bottle of wine with our supper. Was rushed looking for our second bottle. Def not the evening I was expecting. The food was amazing. And the ambiance was very nice.

    Great, food, atmosphere and service. Our waiter Brayden was amazing and added to the whole experience. Disappointed that there is no double stuffed potatoes anymore but the garlic and cheese bread were still outstanding!highly recommend.

    I did a deep dive to find what I hoped was the best restaurant in Winnipeg. Both I and Hy missed the mark. Prices at the restaurant should have supported the reputation, which is a solid 4.5 of 5; however, we have enjoyed much better steaks and service elsewhere. The steaks were small, thin and overdone for the weight and preparation reported on the web site and the menu. We had nice tasting, small, expensive craft cocktails. A true annoyance was one large steak, cost twice that of two half steak portions. With this as our guide and without notification, the restaurant charged more than half price for 2-half portions of side veggies. We felt this was inconsistent with their own pricing policy.

    The food was great and drinks were great. The reception was warm and welcoming however the waiter we had, an older gentleman was rather passive aggressive with everything including when he poured my partners water he poured half of it on the ground and around the glass.

    Don’t get me wrong we had a good experience but…. For almost $600.00 including tip for 4 people I would expect that my wife would at least get the meal she ordered. She ordered rack of lamb medium rare and somehow that ended up being a filet well done. She didn’t say anything so our son’s birthday dinner wouldn’t be ruined having to wait for her correct meal. On top of that the waiter forgot to punch in our 2 side order veggie dishes so those ended up coming out at the end of our meal (they did comp those dishes). The food was good overall and we had a great evening but for that amount of money we were very disappointed and I felt bad for my wife as she was looking forward to the lamb all week. If you’re going to charge those kind of prices you MUST get it right!! She loves going to Hy’s but I’m sure she’ll think twice before going again.
