    So glad Hy's doesn't change. The food was incredible, the service was excellent, and the ambience was perfect. It was such a nice way to celebrate a special birthday, and for me to bid goodbye to Winnipeg. Out of all the things I wanted to do in the city before I leave, returning to Hy's topped the list.

    We went between four and six so we could take advantage of happy hour on my birthday. However, there was no happy hour and I asked the waiter how many glasses of champagne would be in a half bottle he recommended that we order a 6 ounce glass each and then split a 6 ounce glass so we ordered mom’s champagne and he brought a bottle to the table and I assumed he was going to give us a glass each And they kept pouring and I was too embarrassed to say anything and I thought perhaps it was a birthday extra. Needless to say to people drinking a bottle of champagne isn’t great I got carried away because it was my birthday and I was in a good mood, but it was not a good experience for layered reasons , the escargot had no mushroom caps. they were tiny and they were cold. My daughters pasta had to be returned as it was cold. By the time they brought it back hot, my chicken was cold. The dessert was excellent, and they gave it to the us complementary for my birthday. $175.00 was not good at all and my daughter did not order steak and lobster to keep the money low for me and it was wasted on too much alcohol that I was embarrassed/ ashamed to address.

    Very good service, delicious ahi tuna and prawn appetizer, Caesar salad was ok, the steak and vegetables were delicious as well as the beef wellington my dining partner ordered.

    An amazing experience as always for myself, exactly the type of Service and courtesy I expect from a Brand such as Hy’s. I was immediately seated upon arrival, promptly informed of happy hour and the features. My server had a strong knowledge of the menu, as well great conversation as I dined alone. 100% Recommend dining at Hy’s Winnipeg if you want the full meal deal!

    The two men that we were with both ordered steak Diane both of them were disappointed with their food, and it was almost embarrassing to see how little piece of steak was actually on their plate and they both felt it was over cooked. I had steak Neptune and it was delicious .I was a bit disappointed with my salad as it was not the way I remembered it from before which was iceberg lettuce a wedge with blue cheese beefsteak tomato slices and onions. It was a bit disappointing… Thank you

    For the premium Steak House in Wpg. We are in trouble. After 65 years in the Steak industry you would think that they could cook a steak Blue, as ordered. It was rare but definitely not blue. Although they made up for it on the baked potato, it was served hard and under baked. The manager did apologize claiming that they had 56 walk in customers. We were celebrating a special birthday and put beside a loud group of four. Baked potatoes comes out of the kitchen with sour cream/ chives/ bacon on it. Hy’s formerly did this at your table and you could ask for either more or less of the condiments. Hy’s certainly doesn’t live up to their supposed standard!

    Terrible service. Took unusually long, where we saw people who came in after us leave and we were not served yet. Then they announced that they ran out of baked potatoes. Then the steaks arrived. Nothing special for the prices they charge.

    My fiancé and I visited Hyes for our anniversary for the first time recently and received nothing short of perfection. William was an absolute dream all evening and tended to us with such grace and humility. Our meals were outstanding, the wine recommendation was bang on, just an amazing experience all together.

    We had the lamb for dinner main course. The banana flambe for desert. It was all delicious, fresh and the portions were perfect. The staff were amazing. Friendly, professional and created a comfortable and discreet atmosphere.

    Overall the experience was excellent. A table near us was a bit annoying, but not to the extent that it ruined the evening. The food was amazing, and our server was fantastic! I have food allergies - like the actual anaphylactic kind - and he knew the menu ingredients as well as flagged it for the chef. I highly recommend Hy’s and will happily attend again.

    Our first time at Hy’s was absolutely incredible. The food was delicious and our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and extensive wine and cocktail list. Hr was incredibly friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I can’t wait to go back!

    The Reservation for 6 pm. Our waiter was not pleasant and disengaged. It felt like we were a disappointment somehow. By the end of the meal was outright rude when paying - as he engaged in a conversation with table next us while taking payment for our check - ignoring the person who was paying at our table. The food was delicious aside from the Caesar salad he made for us table-side - it was overdressed, clumpy, and soggy when served. It he other appetizers looked amazing. Fresh garden salad and pea soup. We love Hy’s for many reasons, including the professional manner that folks have when dining. The other waiters and busters were friendly and acknowledged us and were welcoming - but our waiter was absolutely not this way. It felt like punishment. Not good.

    We knew going in that this was going to be an expensive dinner but for the hype and price of this restaurant, I expected to be blown away with the food. Yes it was good, but I have had steaks just as good elsewhere for much less price. The roasted potatoes were wet and mushy in the centre but the green beans were spot on. My gin martini was good, but made with Beefeater gin, which surprised me - again for the price I expected at least something like Gray Whale.

    My 29th anniversary dinner, we invited friends as this is our favourite spot. The three other members of my party ordered the 6 ounce fillet, I ordered the 10 ounce New York. My wife and our guests thought their steaks were fantastic, mine was cold and grizzly. Somewhat disappointed in my experience this time.

    This was our first time at this location and it was absolutely perfect. We chose to dine on the patio and although there was a lot of traffic, we knew that being at Portage and Main would be a bit noisy. The ambience was lovely and our server, Lyndsay was incredible. She was knowledgeable and was attentive without constantly being at the table. We were especially touched with the Happy Anniversary-Happy Birthday dessert! This was our first time here but definitely not the last.

    We were celebrating our 38th anniversary and had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner. Our waiter was Marvin who was very attentive and did an excellent job. The ambience is old school steakhouse which is appropriate for Hy's. The dinner was paced nicely, neither too slow or fast. Food and drinks were awesome as you would expect f or the price. The Bananas Foster served tableside for dessert the perfect ending. Highly recommended for an upscale dining experience.
