The Summerlicious menu reads better than it tastes. Upon arriving, the greeting was one of indifference and the table we were seated at was one of the least appealing, given the possible views one can have. Of the six dishes we ate, two desserts were good, salmon was cooked very well--moist and not overdone--but a salmon carpaccio was greasy and heavy lying on top of too-bitter greens and the main--Cornish hen and wild boar sausage were visually unappealing. A salad was good, but no more than that. I had ordered a glass of red wine, and when I took the last sip, I found myself chewing on something solid. I know that dregs in a bottle of wine are not evidence that a wine is bad, and it may even by a sign that the wine is good, a fact pointed out by a person I believe was the chef. I believe that the explanation was insufficient. Clearly I would prefer that glass of wine I'm paying for in a restaurant not contain dregs, and I would expect either an expression of regret and perhaps a query as to what I would done about this. As for being "owed" a free glass of wine, not necessarily; however, the offer would have been appreciated, and on this night, declined.
Was not dissapointed the food was excellent service great just one little thing I thought the Summerlicious Dinner Menu was advertised at .$38.00 and we were charged $43.00 ?
I love this restaurant on so many levels. The owner is always present and so incredibly accommodating. The food is brilliant with attention to detail and inventive at the same time. Wonderful flavours and combinations of interesting ingredients. The large windows make it inviting and with an elegant interior I am always happy to bring friends here!
In for my birthday and our server (didn’t give her name) was great. Friendly, knowledgeable about food and wine, took great care of us.
The food was delicious and the portions very generous.
You will not leave this restaurant hungry.
We recommend a visit to this restaurant.
Great summerlicious menu and amazing wine
It took 2 hours between when we sat down to get our entrees and then at least 30 minutes to clear our plates
went out Saturday night the food and wine was great also love the atmosphere of the place.
Service was disjointed, not friendly and not helpful. For the number of patrons the staff seemed disorganized and grumpy. Food was not fast and not great given the number of very good Italian restaurants in the surrounding area. Would not go back.
Excellent food and some areas of the venue are not too loud and good for conversation; outdoor patio is nicely setup
Gnocchi was burnt and the lobster was rubbery....No taste and for the price you would assume you would be getting a dish that that was authentic and full of flavour. Very disappointed and slightly embarrassed that I picked this spot for my friends Birthday. Service was slow, though our server was pleasant. The birthday desert of tiramisu was appreciated and tasted good, but that was about the only good thing I can say. I won’t be returning.
The owner is amazing
The homemade pasta itself was very good though both sauces, the Bolognese and the porcini mushroom, were quite bland/oily. Seafood platter was simple and delicious. Nice patio and attentive service.
Enjoyed a great meal. Food was fresh and tasty, and the service was great.
The service, as always was impeccable.
The food was very good and the atmosphere relaxed and inviting.
Excellent restaurant. I have been several times and the food is always very good
Always great food, attentive but not intrusive staff, and a fair price for the night.
Pros: Toney - casual atmosphere, and very friendly staff, genuinely make you feel welcome. The menu is unusually broad, and includes a number of creative dishes. The quality of the food we have had on several visits was very good to excellent. It is a most pleasant dining experience.
Cons: On our last visit, the gnocchi-with-lobster dish would have benefitted from a few more morsels of that lovely crustacean, and more of the delicious bisque at the bottom of the bowl. Although there is a decent selection of wines, they are unfortunately over-priced.
Sum: Try it - you'll like it! This is a really good restaurant.
We frequent Il Ponte, for the amazing italian food. I have tried several dishes from home made pasta's to the sea bass and daily specials. Everything is worth trying.
I love the chic pea flour calamari a great gluten free option as well.
Excellent food in an attractive setting. Service was friendly and efficient. The noise level was fairly high, possibly because there was a very large group [perhaps 16 people] at one long table which likely does not happen every day. Proprietor provided good advice re parking. We would definitely return.
Our kids took us there for a Mothers Day dinner after my wife had had a great lunchtime experience there. Unfortunately a waitress was sick and bartender was absent. Accordingly the service was quite frankly appalling. I understand they were short staffed but we had to ask for everything once we could get someone to come over to our table. We asked for drinks, bread , to order and finally, even though we asked for desert menus no-one ever did come by to take our order for desert or coffee so we paid our bill and left. Food was okay, venison medallions were overpriced for what I got, fish mixed grill was excellent. We would try it again but I'm not in any hurry to do so.
Great waiter, delicious food. Would return
Our second visit and I think we enjoyed it even more than the first time. Next time, we're going on Tuesday for half-price wine. The new house wine from Vineyard Estates is fabulous.
Impeccable service and wonderful food. Use the menu if you like but the daily lunch specials were fabulous!
Great serving staff and delicious food! Highly highly recommended. They take pride in their authentic food
Friendly staff, nice decor and ambiance, and delicious food.
The food was delicious (especially the bread and the olives brought at the beginning of the meal!). Service was welcoming and professional. Decent choice of wines. We will come back in the good weather when the patio is open. Highly recommended.
We had an early reservation for a business meal with colleagues and were greeted with warm European style hospitality. At the last minute our reservation increased by two which was easily accommodated. The service was authentic, and made us feel as if we were in an owner/operated Bistro in the heart of an Italian village. As we munched on 'apertivo' syle bread and olives, we selected our choice of wines and meals, opting all for the house-made "long pasta" dishes. We weren't disappointed. After a variety of tasty starters (hello authentic Caprese salad), and mains, we finished with dolce that were to die for. Menu, service and atmosphere highly recommended if you are looking to impress guests.
Food, ambiance, and service were excellent on all counts.
Took my cousin and her husband to Il Ponte this week as they love good Italian food. John provided us with personalized friendly attendance and great food. We were all very impressed with the appetizers (salmon carpaccio, calamari and caprese salads), mains included papardelle with a wild boar Bolognese sause which was fabulous. John also provided us with a complimentary fish (can't remember what but it was good) bruschetta and a dessert for sharing.
Would return in a heartbeat.
Always a great experience at Il Ponte! Amazing food and service.
I appreciate a fine, complete dining experience and Il Ponte provided that in spades. I recommend it highly (especially Tuesdays when wine by the bottle is half price) and will return again.
Restaurant: very pleasant décor, background music definitely in the background. Easy to carry on a conversation with dinner companion. Food very good, although it wasn't hot, only warm, when it arrived at the table. Generally, a good experience. Wine list by the glass short but sufficient; wine a good Italian. Would go back.
Charming welcoming staff provide excellent service.
Food was very good with lots of options (I am vegetarian)
A little pricey for everyday casual dinner but would definitely go back.
The food is fantastic. We have never had anything but amazing dinners.
The service is second to none. Probably one of the most under rated restaurants in the city.
I hope no one ever finds out about this place. So it remains a quiet hidden gem for our family. :-)
Food was wonderful and the service was excellent. Been there twice and both times were great. Will definitely return.
Great food, the wild boar chop was awesome, my wife had the lobster ravioli which she said was nice. We were greeted warmly and the waiter hung up our coats for us; lots of small but nice touches.
Great food and service, somewhat cool, modern, austere environment, not too loud so good for conversation. Pretty easy, convenient parking on Queen Street .
Excellent food but service and waiting time for food services could be substantially improved.
