Friendly and accommodating of dietary restrictions and preferences (a friend was gluten free and vegetarian). The restaurant was not too busy when we went (we had an early reservation) so the server was attentive and came often to refill glasses. Food was good and was served quickly; in the time that we waited for food, we were brought bread twice, which was lovely. Very low noise level since there were not many people dining at the time.
Restaurant ambience was nice, service was mixed, not 100% attentive as you arrived, ie getting you sorted with drinks etc. Food was mixed, one dish was fantastic, the other not so much.
Really good food. Will definitely be back. Authentic Italian that would even impress my Nonna!
The food was unbelievable and we will be back for the Halibut soon
We went for Winterlicious and they had a good menu at a reasonnable price. The regular menu seemed a bit expensive...
From the moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted warmly, offered a choice of tables and treated like old friends. The service was attentive but not hovering and we were invited to partake of the special menu, even though we had not reserved for it. We had been to Il Ponte only once before, when it first opened, and decided it was time for another visit. No regrets on that decision, and we will be back.
A really good find: service, ambience very nice, and the food was outstanding. A little pricey, but well worth it. When we were there, there was a "half-price wine Tuesdays" offer in effect: it applies to the first bottle you order from their well-thought-out wine list.
wWe were greeted at the door allowed to choose our table. GianCarlo gave us excellent service, gudided us in our choices and we werenot disappointed. We would definitely go again. food was gorgeous especially the eggplant parme and the minestrone
Very accommodating with dietary restrictions! Food was excellent and service outstanding. Organic salmon was prepared just right - moist, tender and tasty. Will be returning to try out other things on the menu.
Lunch date with my parents and their 7 month old grandson. I was worried it was too fancy to have the baby there but he was welcomed and the staff made a fuss over him. Accommodated our special seating requirements accordingly
I've been here twice with family members, and both times were great! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We decided to try Il Ponte after seeing it while riding the King Streetcar and really we have talked about it since the summer when the plan was to ride up for a dinner on the patio. But winter arrived and I was looking for a new place to try and celebrate my husband's special birthday. So off we went..in the middle of the snowstorm ( thanks to Uber we travelled easily).
We were greeted warmly ( not many people there ...it was a Monday as well as the storm) and our choice of seating. I had not realized that the restaurant was participating in Winterlicious and the choices were wonderful...I had a great and creamy caesar salad and a delicious pasta dish with mushrooms ( sort of like an Alfredo sauce) and a tiramisu to die for ( actually almost as good as the one we had in Rome many years ago and when I mentioned it to the waitress she said the Chef was from Italy. Capucinos to finish and then another Uber ride home. Absolutely delicious! Definitely will go again...but maybe once the patio is open!
A gem of a restaurant on Queen St located immediately east of the bridge over the DVP.
We went for Winterlicious and it was fabulous. Great food and great service. Definitely recommend this for a dinner out.
Had a wonderful dinner for the first time visit to Il Ponte. Generous portions even for a Winterlicious menu...almost unheard of. Food was beautifully presented and delicious. I will definitely be back for another visit. Regarding the noise level, I find most restaurants noisy today. It's just the way it is. It would never dissuade me from enjoying great food and ambience.
These place as been on our radar for a few months, so decided to give it a try on a Tuesday night which is advertised as 1/2 price bottleS of Wine, we had the caesar salad and calamari to start (calamari was excellent one of the best I tried, salad was very basic for $14 and no bacon). Pizza was good, the fish special was very nice and the decor is beautiful, place is much bigger than the website shows.
We had 2 bottles of wine when the bill came the 2nd bottle was full price, was told only the 1st bottle was 1/2 price, we were not impressed as the advertising reads nothing about this, so we pushed back, finally they agreed to honor the special, it kinda put a downer on the evening having to insist, they need to revise the advertising to reflect only 1st bottle so no surprises or false advertising.
I'm not going to let this affect me going back, the place is very nice.
Although the food was excellent, I am not sure whether that would be enough for me to go back. I don't remember the reservation having a 2 hour limit and even if that was the case, the server should have mentioned it when we sat down. I didn't appreciate being asked to leave because I did enjoy my meal and was having a good conversation catching up with my friend and they made us feel that we overstayed our welcome by saying that the next people had been waiting over half an hour? does that mean the limit was only an hour and a half?....but how would we have known that? Our reservation was at 6pm and we left around 8:10p.m.
nice restaurant, nice ambiance, good service, good food. my wife and I both had pasta dishes and they were very good. prices were reasonable, will definitely return to try other menu options.
Great food - gnocchi was heavenly and the service was just perfect.
Always guaranteed.
Love this place! My usual spot for business lunch and dinner. Owner Giancarlo is always charming and accommodating. Looking forward to my next visit.
Attentive and excellent service and food.
The food excellence, but service left much to be desired by our party of three. They never smiled once, told use the tip should be more, 20% was not enough. I can not eat anything containing garlic, I was ensured twice that no garlic in anything for myself, but 4 hours later I suffered from a garlic attack, and the only food I ate that day was at this restaurant. These attacks last about 5 days, just not worth it! In future we will pass on this place.
Food ok but not special. Service was slow and not friendly. There was a large noisy party in the restaurant. Talking with my friend was challenging. Much better places in Leslieville than this one...
Service was terrible. It was very hard to get ahold of a server and we were the youngest guests and didn’t feel rightly treated.
Great staff. The owner was very personable. Lovely space.
A gem of a spot. Service always on the mark.
The good smells coming out of the kitchen, you now this is the Italian restaurant you have been looking for.
Very nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, good and interesting food as well as good service.
The service was very personal and the menu was impressive. The calamari were outstanding. One guest needed accommodation for gluten intolerance and one had a different food allergy; neither was a problem. Dessert list was extensive. We went for a special occasion and would happily go back for others.
AAAAA+....................................................................................................................................................... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Overpriced...bland lobster pasta - tasteless.
Great calimari
We love this restaurant always great food and service
Great Gem on the Eastside. I came from Winnipeg and Il Ponte was the only stop on my list.
Will return absolutely!
it’s a favourite of mine. welcoming and the food is old school delicious.
Have been a few times before, but the place is getting better, great service, knowledgable about wine and great food
First visit was for my niece’s birthday. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was welcoming and the ambience sophisticated without being pretentious. Nice variety of cocktails, bread and olives and then a delicious complimentary appetizer. I had the grilled fish platter which was excellent, shrimp, said and a white fish. Everyone enjoyed their meals so much that we immediately made a booking for my visitors last night in Toronto.
It was my first time at Il Ponte. It didn’t disappoint. Great service, food and ambiance. Can’t really ask for more from a restaurant. Would definitely go back.
For the last 2 years a friend and I take turns in picking the restaurant and paying. The criteria is good food, comfortable surroundings and the ability to hear each other in conversation.
Il Ponte surpassed all all points. The food was delicious and made and presented with care and pride.
We told the owner we wanted to try many things and would share everything, completely acceptable to him as we motored through a homemade mushroom soup, sardines on toast , fried squid and grilled octopus followed by the main course of a selection of fish with garlic pasta. Yes, there was room for dessert, Panna cotta and mint tea. At the height of activity the room had a pleasant with a buzz but conversation was not strained because of intereferring noise. We will be back for many more times..we did not get to eat everything on the menu !
The service at Il Ponte was professional, the waitress was pleasant and knowledgable. The food was excellent -authentic Italian and generous in its portions.
As always the food and service goes above and beyond.
