Restaurant: very pleasant décor, background music definitely in the background. Easy to carry on a conversation with dinner companion. Food very good, although it wasn't hot, only warm, when it arrived at the table. Generally, a good experience. Wine list by the glass short but sufficient; wine a good Italian. Would go back.
Charming welcoming staff provide excellent service.
Food was very good with lots of options (I am vegetarian)
A little pricey for everyday casual dinner but would definitely go back.
The food is fantastic. We have never had anything but amazing dinners.
The service is second to none. Probably one of the most under rated restaurants in the city.
I hope no one ever finds out about this place. So it remains a quiet hidden gem for our family. :-)
Food was wonderful and the service was excellent. Been there twice and both times were great. Will definitely return.
Great food, the wild boar chop was awesome, my wife had the lobster ravioli which she said was nice. We were greeted warmly and the waiter hung up our coats for us; lots of small but nice touches.
Great food and service, somewhat cool, modern, austere environment, not too loud so good for conversation. Pretty easy, convenient parking on Queen Street .
Excellent food but service and waiting time for food services could be substantially improved.
Excellent as always!
Excellent once again! Food was amazing, dessert was awesome, service was fantastic.
Excellent food and excellent service. Went there with friends to chat and it was quiet enough for conversation. The decor is very modern and somewhat austere, but very nicely done.
We drove in from Brooklin Ontario - Which means we passed at least 200 other places we could have eaten at. Giancarlo is a master at explaining what it is - that you are about to devour. His recommendation for wine was also right on! We took another couple with us - and impressed the heck out of them. They said - they are "mussel shells canaseurs" - and they said - it was the best and largest they ever had! and just before we left - we received a special treat - to wash the pallet! I know why I went! and I know why I will be back! I eat out a lot - and I know good food! I place this place at the top of my list! Very Very Good!
This place is great! One of my favourite restaurants in Leslieville.
Great! I would go again!
Went on New Years Eve which had a set menu - unfortunately, the Gnochi from the regular menu was not included! Didn't have the wine we wanted from the menu, but the food was nice. Service could'be been more punctual - our total dining time from seating to dessert was +2 hours: but maybe that's just a NYE issue.
Went for NYE dinner pre-fix menu was pricey. Main was disappointing, dessert I wanted was sold out.
We were welcomed with open arms. The owner/chef (?) came over to tell us about how he chose the location and the name and checked back frequently during the meal. The restaurant is a bit pricey but the food was good with reasonable size portions. Great view of the bridge over the Don all lit up. Not noisy like a lot of restaurants, able to have a conversation with our friends. Look forward to checking out the patio in the warmer weather
As usual dinner was delicious right to the end with in House made desserts. Have been here many times and never disappointed.
Amazing food and outstanding service, as per usual!
Music was too loud, repetitive, and a little too religious. Other than that, the experience was nice.
Returning customer, our clients enjoy this restaurant. Food was good, service was prompt.
If you appreciate Contemporary Italian style in décor and food - vero Italiano. Il ponte is the place for you. Bravo Giancarlo !
One of my favorite restaurants. Strong gluten free options.
The seafood platter was well prepared - especially the grilled octopus! My vanilla panna cotta was gorgeous. My friends enjoyed their pasta dishes desserts and wines. The atmosphere was warm modern friendly- gray for a special night out.
Had dinner at Il Ponte last night and it was so-so. There were 3 of us and the restaurant was not even half full. Although the service was efficient, our server was clearly "just doing her job". I don't think she ever smiled or tried to engage us at all during the evening. There was no interaction other than take the order, bring the food etc.
The grilled bread that was served with olives was delicious, but a stingy portion. 4 tiny pieces for 3 people.
One friend had the pasta special which was lobster ravioli, and she thought it was delicious. I had the gnocchi with lobster, which was all char grilled. I could only taste the charring and no other flavour. The gnocchi and the lobster tasted identical. I finally asked our server for some grated cheese just to give it another flavour. As well, the dish was not visually appealing. Just a bunch of off-white little things in a bowl.
The other friend had the zuppa di pesce, which again was nothing special. She is a huge fish/seafood fan and was somewhat disappointed.
Overall, I'd give this place 3/5. I'd go back if I was in the neighbourhood, but I wouldn't make a special trip again.
Definitely one of the better restaurants in the area, and comparable with any Five Star downtown.
Great service, ambiance and menu!
Highly disappointed. Was in the mood for a good classic Italian meal but ended up with flavourless and unseasoned carpaccio, far from ready pasta (completely undercooked), and a pizza who’s crust was soggy and the cheese not even fully melted). Not worth a penny.
Very disappointed with our experience at Il Ponte. I tried to book a new spot to celebrate my wife's birthday with hopes of finding a gem. It's rare that we have a night out and I was trying to make it a special one. When we arrived the hostess was pleasant but not overly friendly. I had mentioned on the reservation that it was a birthday celebration, but no mention was made by the staff. No menu specials were offered, no description of any of the menu items or recommendations etc.
Our caesar salad appetizers were very good, but when our entrees arrived, my wife's spaghetti alla carbonara di pesce pasta was very, very salty. To the restaurant's credit, the owner was very gracious and brought her a freshly cooked meal that was seasoned less aggressively. My meal the pollo con salsa di porcini was tasty but not exceptional. We ended up sharing it while waiting for my wife's meal to arrive.
All in all, the atmosphere is nice, this a good place for a conversation with drinks or a romantic evening. We were disappointed in the food (not memorable) and to an extent the service, with the exception of the Owner. While we probably won't be back, hopefully other patrons will have a better experience.
Do not hesitate to give Il Ponte a try. We'll be back for sure. We love Italian and every aspect is vero italiano.
What a great evening at Il Ponte. Giancarlo the owner was wonderful gave us great recommendations and was so accommodating. The staff were super friendly and the ambiance at the Resteraunt was lovely. Most of all the food was delicious and loved that there is gluetan free options available. Can’t wait to come back here again.
Very good first visit... I look forward to trying much more of the menu
Just go. No questions asked.
This was my second visit @ Il Ponte , both were business dinners. The choices that we made were exceptional , in fact I stuck to the same thing on both visits. The Caprese salad was prepared differently both times however was delightful , each time taking advantage of the succulent perfectly ripe tomatoes and the Buffalo mozzarella cheese.
I will be back..
Great atmosphere - not too loud but enough people to give it a lively feel. The food was delicious. I had the salmon. Tried the caprese. Tried the gnocchi. Tried the pizza (THIN thin crust). All delicious. Going back!
The food was really good, but the portions are really tiny. I ordered Octopus and was really disappointed at how small the peice was. My pasta had 3 shrimp in it... The service wasn't amazing, she didn't ask how the food was, or if there was anything else we needed. The place was quiet but likely because it wasn't too busy. For the same price I prefer Cibo, or Church Apertivo - larger portions and more dishes.
Worst service and some of the food was wrong yet they argued about it and wouldn’t own up to it.
Space, prices and most of the food was good though.
The owner really knows how to run a business and take care of his customers. I was there for my anniversary with my wife and the night was wonderful. They had a 1/2 price bottle of wine on tuesdays so we indulged, hence the good value rating. The atmosphere and ambiance was wonderful, lights dimmed down when sun went down so it was cozy and romantic. All the staff we met were polite and kind. Overall great experience, I will be back.
My husband and I were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary over the weekend. We chose Il Ponte as it was where we had our wedding reception. One year later and the ambiance is still spectacular and the food absolutely delicious. We will be back on a yearly basis and visits in between I am sure :)
Il Ponte was a very nice and clean restaurant. It was a busy night and so service was a bit slower towards the end of our meal compared to the beginning, but this didn't both us. We started with the calamari fritti, which was absolutely delicious! The rings were nice and thick, it was fresh, not chewy and the chipotle aioli was divine! We also had the housemade gnocci, which didn't look like a large portion, however it was quite filling. The Gorgonzola cheese was a bit too overpowering for me. We also had the Spaghetti Alla Genovese, which was flavorful and well-balanced. For dessert, we had tiramisu, which was good but nothing out of the ordinary. We found that overall, it's a nice place to go to but the price at Il Ponte was a bit on the higher side, even our drinks were approximately $13 and it was not a lot in quantity.
The food, salad, pasta, fish all very delicious. Best tiramisu I have ever had. The owner is very personable, which adds to the ambiance. Only great things to say, loved it.
