Booked a reservation here based upon recommendations. We found the food to be ordinary at best and mediocre at worst. Ordered the gnocchi with meat sauce (worst dish in our group), chicken Marsala (can make much better at home that actually tastes like Marsala), chicken Parmesan ( sauce tasted like it came from a can), and lasagna - best of the 4 dishes. Waiter was very good and not too expensive.
Has a great time hosting a friend’s retirement dinner at il Porcellino! Thank you Lucy for the lovely customer service!!!!!
Everything was great until the only cocktail I ordered didn't come out with dinner. Nobody came by until my entree was gone. At that time I kindly refused the drink. The waiter was very kind however still tried to charge me for the drink. In the end it was all worked out but was frustrating. Other than that a great experience.
We got there and had to wait for the table.
This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Everything we got was delicious. Our server was really attentive. Definitely recommend.
I was in town for my husband’s birthday and found il Porcellino on Yelp. We did have a reservation and was seated roughly 10 mins after we arrived. The food was great and the vibe was nice and romantic, just like I hoped it would be. Low lighting, really good food, friendly service and great conversation made the night prefect for my husband’s birthday.
Best lasagne! Alan sat us right away and our waiter made sure we had excellent service AND got us out in time for show.
Lovely decor throughout the restaurant. Food was tasty and there was an excellent wine selection. My only regret was I was too full for dessert.
Il Porcellino was such a great restaurant. Friendly staff and delicious food. The cheese bread and fettuccini Alfredo were amazing. This is a gem. Was surprisingly very busy on a Tuesday night. Glad I made a reservation
Hostess was nice, recognized our birthday celebration- all down hill from there . Waiter kept telling us he would be right there, bring us bread, bring us a dessert menu (after we had to ask for bread and dessert). He never recognized our celebration. Food was ok but the lack of service ruined the occasion. He seemed to care less, had some regulars that he was worried about. Table next to us had the same experience. Definitely not worth the money- expensive disappointing meal.
Mother’s Day reservationists. Arrived and were immediately greeted and seated. After a few minutes requested to be seated to another seat since it was closer to the wall of fame. There was no issue and we were request was granted. Amazing immediate service, delicious food and ambiance with exceptional quality of service. The music is great not Loud yet enjoyable. A la carte dinning or family options. Will definitely be here more often. Price is great and there is a $15 available valet. Or street parking.
food was incredible! we all ordered pasta and every single dish was 10/10!
Delicious old school Italian fare in a warm and energetic dining room. The Fried Calamari appetizer was outstanding. We had some excellent Negroni cocktails, too.
Great food and great service. A bit noisy, but bearable.
LOVED the ambiance. Food was great. We came on a busy night, mother's day, so the service was a bit slow, but friendly. Will definitely come back and recommend to others.
Enjoyed the food & atmosphere very good, one glitch my food was only warm , had to send it back to reheat!
Food was great. However, the server was very rude and complaining he had to work a double shift. Not my problem!
We took my mother in law here for lunch and had an amazing time. Food was superb.
Had a 6pm reservation, but got seated at a high top in the bar. Not what we expected. Our server wasn’t that great.... he didn’t really act very professional. The good was ok, nothing great. The red sauce was bland was very little flavor. Overall, not a great experience.
Good food; nice portions; great service.
Casual atmosphere that is relaxed and welcoming for families and dates.
Everything about this restaurant was top notch. Bar, food, ambiance, bartender, server. A+
the food was amazing! so flavorful and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. Service was good too. Will be going back
The waitress was incredible, and the food as on point as always. Great combination before an evening out.
Best Italian food I've ever had! Garlic bread is heavenly.
My friend and I had reservation at 7:30p but arrived early. We were planning to just do drinks at the bar but decided to get food at the bar as well. First of all- awesome cocktail selection. We got to watch the mixologists make all varieties of cocktails, spritzer etc. We had excellent Paloma’s and were treated to a taste of a classic daiquiri. Food wise, we got the garlic ciabatta, meatball orsini and the gnocchi. Every bit of our food was delicious. The gnocchi was light and fluffy in a wonder bolongese sauce. Meatballs were tender in a decadent polenta. The services was excellent even at the bar.
My husband had linguine with clam sauce. The clams were extremely tiny and the clam sauce looked and tasted like pasta water. We wanted an Amaretto after dinner but we’re told they didn’t have Amaretto (in an Italian restaurant, really). All in all, not up to Let Us Entertain you standards. Would not recommend.
What a great, intimate Italian restaurant in the River North area. It is perfect for a date, or gathering of family and/or friends. The food was fantastic - my wife and I split the chopped salad, grilled calamari, and the penne alla benetti (actually substituted the gluten free fettuccine for the penne - great pasta and prepared very well; couldn’t tell it was gluten free), and a bottle of wine. Wonderful meal, really fun experience. Our waiter was attentive, as were the other servers. All were appropriately attentive without hovering.
We will definitely go again. I highly recommend it.
Nice spot, happy hour is worth checking out, the mini subs and negronis were memorable.
Rare find; excellent old school Italian; great 30s vibe and the price is outstanding for this area.
Enjoyable restaurant, if a bit too loud. Good value, nice staff, good "go-to" eatery.
Awesome ... classic old school supper club Italian atmosphere.
The best lasagna I ever had. Absolutely delicious. Will visit again when in Chicago.
Don’t bother. Keeps getting worse
When we first got there it seemed like everybody else that was sitting at the bar was being offered a drink except for my fiancé and I. I am not sure if it because we didn’t fit the role, or what. Regardless, once we got seated our waiter was phenomenal. The atmosphere was great, I just wish I knew the playlist of the music they were playing. It was on point the entire time from when we arrived to when we left. The main guy there, was also very nice and took our picture when we left. I am very satisfied with the cost and how well the food was prepared.
One of my favorite restaurants. LOVE how they ask about allergies prior to even ordering food. As I am anaphylactic, eating out is very nerve wracking for me. They make me feel safe and I trust il Porcellino's. I have been to quite a few steak houses where they were not careful with cross contamination and I actually went into an allergic reaction. They are very careful and I applaud this approach. Because of that, I will continue to come back here and remain a loyal customer. In addition, the food is phenomenal and I love the complementary cheese they bring to the table.
Everything was great until a patron brought in their dog!
Our server waitress was exceptional. She was VERY knowledgeable about the menu and perfectly attentive - very competent without overdoing it in the least.
Great place! Food was delicious!
