Awesome food and awesome service. Definitely going back!
Fills a niche for a variety of food at a reasonable price. Nice decor and space between table.
Would recommend upstairs.
Service was excellent. Manager was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and interesting (different).
Breakfast was “ok” service was fast, good atmosphere, got the french toast and it was dry.
Iron Rooster was a very hit and miss dining experience for us.
The misses -
- Our server didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu items, every question we asked, she said she would have to find out and let us know. While I'm glad she didn't lie, it also seemed weird that she knew so little about what was in so many dishes (we had a lot of questions).
- The entrees: My chicken pot pie was disappointing. It was mostly filler and the sauce wasn't that great. The chicken that WAS in it was really good. There just wasn't very much of it. The actual pot pie was huge though. My friend's salmon was overcooked, even after she asked if it could be cooked medium rare, and the brussel sprouts were kind of bland.
The hits -
- Service was good, other than not knowing the answers to our questions
- The appetizer - the chorizo mac and cheese bites were AWESOME, which unfortunately set us up for disappointment with the rest of the meal
- The kale - the kale was delicious. I don't even like kale and I tasted some and it was good. That might have just been due to my pot-pie disappointment, but I almost stole more kale from my friend's plate. AND I DON'T LIKE KALE.
- The drinks - My friend got a manhattan which was DELICIOUS and a generous pour. I got one of the specialty mixed drinks which I can't remember the name of - it was fruity, sweet, and refreshing. Not as generous a pour, but still delicious.
We aren't totally turned off from the restaurant, but I think next time we'll either hit the bar for appetizers and dessert (were sadly too full to try the desserts we wanted to) or order from the all-day breakfast menu. The menu is huge and looks delicious, but I have a feeling that the focus is really on the breakfast items. With such a large menu, it's maybe not surprising that some of the items are underwhelming, but I'd hesitate to order a dinner entree again.
If you love breakfast, you’ll love Iron Rooster. We’ve had breakfast and brunch, and took advantage of Annapolis Restaurant Week to go at dinner time. Excellent cocktails, excellent food, and there’s a bonus, Roostarts to go!
It was ok. Service was very good. Seating is ok. Most of all, my omelette was cold and not very well prepared. All the ingredients seemed to be as cited on the menu, but bacon was very hard, there were only two jalapeno slices, it was not spicy at all as the menu indicated. Just not a very well prepared dish. For all of the good things and recommendations we had received from our Son, it was a disappointment. We had a visitor from out of town and overall with traveling to downtown Annapolis for this meal, it was a bit embarrassing. Will not go here again with guests or probably not with my wife either -- although she liked her dish quite a bit. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but it should all be excellent given the billing it received in advance.
Food was quite good. Lots of variety. Waiter rushed us so we didn’t enjoy it as much as we’d like. Read your people, folks!
First time eating here, thought it was great. Food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant.
TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! I've heard some good reviews of the Rooster so decided to try it for Annapolis Restaurant Week. The best part of the evening was that we were seated in probably the warmest of this place. The Restaurant Week Menu sounded interesting, but not a value ($34.95). What I ordered, had I went with the usual menu, was not appreciably less costly. My wife just went for the menu's Shrimp and Grits as her entree. I ordered the Chorizo Mac & Cheese bites (interesting but heavily fried), the Steak Frites (Terrible - so-called hand-carved Ribeye? HAH!) and fries that were pretty soggy, and Waffle Churros (SO fried and WAY too much sugar coating). And, the waitress brought my wife's entree at the SAME time she brought my Mac & Cheese appetizer! We could NOT wait to get thru the meal and leave. DO NOT GO TO THE IRON ROOSTER - period - unless you want a miserable dinner and strange service.
Love the food. Portions are large. I had the chicken fried steak and it was piping hot and tasty. The Mac n cheese bites were delicious. And of course, who doesn’t love the pop tart for dessert.
Food was just ok. Service was somewhat slow. Area we sat in was cold. Probably would not dine here again. The reviews looked great, so maybe our expectations were high... we were underwhelmed.
Packed during a holiday weekend and service/food/everything, could not have been better!
Wonderful time with family. We had the "pop tarts and chicken and waffles - wonderful food!
Delicious food and excellent service. Definitely will visit again soon!
The staff was very friendly, good food was fantastically delicious, homemade Pop tarts by far the best I’ve ever had! I’m an out of towner always make a point to dine here while in town.
We really enjoyed our meal on Valentine's Day. Started with an Iron Crush, which was delicious. The shrimp and grits with poached eggs and a side of pork belly was awesome!! The free housemade poptart was amazing! The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Overall, a very lovely experience. Looking forward to next time.
Robert and his staff did a great job as usual. They make you feel so welcome and truly appreciate your business. Fun atmosphere and great service. They never disappoint.
Small birthday gathering--perfect. Excellent service. Great food--the Rooster bites, the pop-tarts, the beer selection; the craft cocktail--a Jack Daniels punch; all 6 dishes we ordered off the menu were spot on. And it ranged from Breakfast items to a Great Burger served on a Waffle. Yum!
My wife and I had a date night. We’ve got 3 little ones and date nights are few and far between. We decided to try Iron Rooster based on the reviews we read and some friend’s recommendation. It was excellent! Very good menu, good drinks, cool atmosphere, and great service. Location is great too...right in the heart of everything Annapolis has to offer. We highly recommend this place and will be back for sure.
Superb! Always enjoy this place.
Very good comfort food. Now you can make reservations on Open Table so that makes it a plus, unlike when you have to wait forever. Try the signature taste. Amazing.
Robert and his staff took great care of us. The food and service were outstanding. They never disappoint. Keep up the good work.
Food was delicious! Service was great! Will definitely return!
Great! We always love coming here
I love this place!!! Everyone is friendly and the food is yummy!
All of the above and in addition what made our evening special is that we were not rushed off the table which allowed us to complete our meeting with no pressure. Thank you, Iron Rooster. Karen.
Amazing. Food was incredible!! Service was great! Will be back! Get the Roostart!
Family and friends get together before daughter goes back to college.
The staff was super friendly and our server,Myles, was awesome. The food is always delicious and we love coming here!
We had a blast!! The whole neighborhood is alive in Annapolis so before or after your meal you can walk around and enjoy the sights, aromas, and great shops! The serving staff were friendly, well trained, and fast!! Best of all all 6 of us were more than VERY satisfied with our meals! Everything was hot, well plated, and delicious! The pop tarts are Ridiculous!!!! Truly a treat you shouldn't miss!! Love love love this place!! Thank you soooo much for making our celebration so great!! We will be back and we will tell all our friends!!
Great brunch after an evening out. Perfect eggs, pancakes that were warm and soft, and maple compound butter that I’m still thinking about.
Overall good service. Food is always very good. Price is fair depending on the food selection. We will come back. Thank you.
The food was terrible
Meatloaf was like Alpo
Hamburger was flat & dried out. Like it had been reheated many times
Chicken pot pie was curdy
Service was excellent, even though our waitress said she was a little busy.
We went for brunch on Dec. 26. We made our reservation on Open Table which for some reason didn’t let me change the number from 2 to 5 people. I included that was for 5 in the notes. The receptionist was concerned that there may not be a table available for a larger group but after waiting for at the most 5 minutes was able to seat us upstairs. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and took our orders and brought our beverages ( and refilled them frequently) to the table. After what seemed like an unusually long time our waitress brought over an order of bacon on the house and apologized saying the kitchen was not being able to keep up with all the orders. We were hungry because we had waited to eat knowing the portion sizes they serve. I think it was at least another 15 minutes until the food was brought to the table. The portion of bacon allowed for just over 1 piece per person and we only got hungrier. I do want to say the food was as excellent when it was served, as it always is. This is the first time it took such a long to be served, so it was not typical. We have easily eaten there a dozen times since it’s been open. I will still recommend it to friends.
I wish I liked our dinner experience for our anniversary last night. The cakes on cakes was just not good. The iron queso was good as always. Our server was not friendly, didn't check on our food, and never took a drink order from us. Really ruined our evening.
All was good but they did not have our reservation and acted a little put out. Everything turned out ok. But the host was annoyed
Food was okay. Service was HORRIBLE. Not good enough to go back and try again.
