Isabella’s is our “go-to” restaurant. It is our neighborhood place and a place to celebrate special occasions. It also is suitable for business lunches and for children. They manage to do it all. Great bar and bartenders.

Our server was Skyler. He was kind, friendly and very helpful. He respected our space and at the same time interacted with my husband and I in a professional and courteous way. We walked away feeling as though he was happy to serve us. He deserves a big pat on the back! My husband and I are in the customer service industry as well, and it really thrills us to experience "a" players in other industries. The restaurant as a whole offered a wonderful menu. The food was delicious and the portions were exactly what we like. We live close by and have visited in the past, although it has been a long time. Our first experience was so so, as our server, at that time was stand offish and distracted. This was not the case on Saturday and we are excited to return!

Though we have given restaurant's food and service a good review, we give the restaurant's overall review a lower score and credit for that goes to the hostess team. For reasons that we can only guess, our weekend primetime reservation, booked a week prior through OpenTable, was treated with less respect than others, including customers who were local drop-ins. Our birthday party of four arrived ten minutes early for our reservation, dressed very nicely (collared shirts for the men, and dresses for the ladies), full of smiles and good humor, and ready to celebrate a big milestone birthday. Much to our surprise, instead of putting us in one of the dining rooms, they tried to seat us at a bar table where none of the other patrons were seated. When we said that we would prefer to wait until our reservation time arrived so that we could sit in one of the dining rooms, they reacted with annoyance, couldn't promise us that this would happen, and reluctantly allowed us to wait in the bar at a counter that "you will have to vacate as soon as the party that has reserved it arrives." Of course, within five minutes of our taking a seat, the party who had reserved a space at the bar arrived, and we were asked to move. We played it cool and laughed it off for the sake of not ruining the mood of our birthday celebration, but there was no question in our minds that the hostesses had disrespected our party, and for what purpose? Of course, it goes without saying that we could see at least three tables for a group our size available in the two dining rooms, but apparently those were reserved for people who didn't have reservations or who were late for theirs. Eventually, they seated us in a dining room, but not without a last zinger in which the hostess encouraged me to "make any special requests at the time of reservation." Thankfully, though the hostess team did their best to show us what Lynchburg hospitality is not, the food and service team made up for it.

Overall we enjoyed this restaurant the salads were fresh seafood Trio sampler was massive and we could not finish it. entrées were good but nothing spectacular wine selection was nice service was very good would return but not make a special trip for it

This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Lynchburg! While the food is absolutely amazing, the service is truly what keeps us going back over and over. The bartenders, Josh and Alex, are quite talented with cocktails— I’m always excited to try their newest concoctions. The two of them are also so much fun to interact with and you can tell they love their jobs. We truly feel like family every time we go and always end up meeting such amazing people while seated at the bar. A+++++++

We wanted to take family out for a special dinner and Isabella's did not disappoint! We had wonderful cocktails and a great beer selection. We shared a massive plate of calamari, which was too much for four people, but was quite good. Our group had steaks, scallops and pasta. The potatoes with cheese and bacon served with the ribeye was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten! The tomato basil pasta (that's not exact, but it was the first pasta dish, I believe) was the least impressive, which surprised me for an Italian-y restaurant. It was fine, but a little dry -- not much sauce for a lot of pasta. And no cheese. Everything else was amazing. The very best part was our service -- Ruthie is a great ambassador for Isabella's. She's friendly, helpful and attentive without hovering. She made great suggestions! We'll definitely be back.

Isabella's is our top celebration outing, because the food never disappoints and the restaurant has the best bartender in the city. The mussels are the best we have had anywhere, and Josh is always able to satisfy a finicky drinker's taste buds. Beyond those points, every dish is great, so there's no fear in taking others there or venturing beyond our normal favorites.

Always a nice meal at Isabella's, but the crab and roasted red pepper soup was to DIE for! Really exquisite. I can't speak to much else--I only had a salad with a small bit of salmon on the side, but my guests seemed to enjoy everything. It was restaurant week with a special 3-course menu. Good times!

The carpeting is worn and was clearly not vacuumed. Our server was very nice, but did get our order wrong (it happens!). Our meals were just okay, but the pasta carbonara was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like old, over cooked canned peas.

Believe we were breaking in a new waitress who was not having her “A” game but everything else about the food and environment allows for some accommodation for a waitress learning curve. She forgot two items we specifically asked for (both of which were customary - not exotic). We still always look forward to eating there and routinely recommend it.

The service was excellent, the ambiance was lovely. My drink was good, the bread was delish,the scallops were perfect, but my chicken piccatta was bland, my Dad's spaghetti sauce sugar sweet. It was a disappointment. I might go back, but not for Italian food.

My wife and I ate at Isabella's Italian Trattoria after looking up the top 10 restaurants in Lynchburg. Isabella was #2! Location is in a little shopping center and easy to find. We arrived for an early dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were seated immediately and promptly our server arrived to take our drink orders and request for an antipasti or "appetizers". My wife ordered her favorite Gray Goose Martini straight UP with 2 olives. She raved it was the best she had ever tasted in 50-years! I ordered a Pale Fire Arrant IPA brewed locally in Harrisonburg, VA. It's one of the best IPA I've had the pleasure to drink!! We order their Fritto Di Calamari, lightly fried calamari with basil aioli and their signature tomato basil sauce. Oh my gosh, it was the best tasting calamari we've ever eaten. Their presentation was eye catching, the fresh scent of basil wonderful, and the taste delightful. Highly recommend! Next, my wife ordered the Lobster Bisque Zuppe "Soup" consisting of creamy bisque beans with succulent lobster, fresh tarragon, and caramelized fennel. Soup was steaming hot when served and again the taste superb! I ordered the Isabella's House Salad with fresh mesclun greens, shaved reggiano parmesan, and toasted pine nuts with balsamic vinaigrette. Salad came chilled, crisp and refreshingly tasteful without being too filling! For the Piatti Della Casa - "Plates of the House", I ordered the Pan Seared Scallops which came with house made basil pesto risotto with crispy pancetta bits, and diced tomato garnish. This main entree was served hot, scallops perfectly grilled and the entire taste was overwhelmingly pleasing! Strongly recommend this entree as well! My wife ordered the Chicken Piccata consisting of flour dusted and pan seared thin medallions of chicken topped with sauteed artichokes and capers; creamy polenta. Presentation and taste mouth watering! For desert, Pecan Pie to go! Portion and taste excitingly mouth-watering!!
