We came by this place looking for a nice place to eat (with reservations) and it didn’t disappoint. We ordered the drunken prawns as a starter and it was buttery and delicious. I ordered the prime rib and my wife ordered the filet mignon. We both ordered the creamed spinach and the new potatoes. Everything was very good. The creamed spinach reminded me of a really good spinach artichoke dip of sorts. Our waiter Renaud was very nice and attentive. We will definitely come back next time we make it to San Francisco.

We came here because we had a gift certificate and will not be going back. The ribeye was tasteless and disappointing. For practically $100, one would expect it to taste fantastic. When they placed it on the table, we all looked at each other hoping it would taste better than it looked....absolutely NOT!! The salmon was incredibly spicy and I like spice but this was over the top. The mango salsa could have complimented the dish nicely if it wasn't so charred in spice. The side of mushrooms is a joke.. not in portion but again in taste. I guess it's OK if you like mushrooms that taste like water. Unfortunately, the side of potatoes and bread was the best part of the meal. We didn't look at the dessert menu because we were done being disappointed so we paid and went somewhere else for dessert. This place is overpriced and there are better steak houses to choose from in SF. Skip this one and you'll be thankful.

We don’t come here often enough, especially considering we live in the neighborhood. I always forget how great the food and service are, but we were treated to excellent service and delicious medium-rare filets and sides. Definitely recommend Izzy’s for a taste of old San Francisco and a great night out.

The hostess was soooo sweet and nice. After that. Not so much. Waited almost 20 min before someone took our drink order or even came over and said anything. Then when she did come she wasn’t very pleasant at all. Rushed and asking her questions about the food seemed almost as if I was annoying her. Then the food…. We got 3 different types of potato the baked, sweet potato and their “own potatoes”. All 3 were cold, not even warm. Flat out cold!! We love steak houses. Every city we goto we like to try at least 2. This is a steak house we will not be revisiting. As we were leaving a couple behind us said the same exact things. Taters were cold and old and the waitress made you feel as tho you were the problem!

The food was very good. Although the prime rib was good, it wasn’t the best I’ve had. Frankly, I wish they provided actual steak knives instead of a second clean butter knife to cut your meat. Our waiter, Bruno, was delightful.

Let me start by say our server was EXCELLENT! But the Ribeye's were so marginal, no flavor at all and the Caesar Salad was way over dressed. On a positive note the cocktails were very good and the sourdough bread was wonderful. Sadly, with so many option available we probably will not be returning.

Large portions (2sides of your choice with most meals) and excellent service. We opted for a booth in the back thankfully as VERY loud groups of four nearby. Maybe they thought the booths were soundproof??? When ordering meat, be sure your order up as my husbands’s medium well prime rib was barely medium. Will definitely be a go-to for us and out-of-town guests in the future.

20 yrs ago, a bunch of friends and I would make a near weekly trip to Izzy's. Now we're scattered in the Bay Area and beyond. We decided to do a reunion at Izzy's and it was terrific. The food was fantastic. Great beef, generous and tasty sides, included some excellent carmelized onions. Izzy's is a classic place with a classic steakhouse look. You get a terrific meal delivered with old-school straight-up-the-middle, no BS, old school ambience and service. Nice to know consistency and value have stood the test of time

I made a special dinner reservation for my husband's birthday for the second year in a row at Izzys. I requested an inside table and did not expect for it to be quiet as it's a lively place. We were sat in-between two huge parties and felt like we could not even toast our wine without feeling like we were part of the other tables. It was highly disappointing and though the food was delicious and our server was wonderful, we won't be returning anytime soon. Where we were sat completely change the celebratory vibe of our evening. It felt as if the host COMPLETELY disregarded our request when other two-seat tables were available. Izzy's has not reached out to make it right.

Steak was under seasoned by far. Short rib had so much salt and wine reduction that I couldn’t taste the meat. By the time I forced myself to finish my $50 plate my mouth felt num. plenty of waiter and staff around for approx 1/4 of the capacity on a Sunday night but food didn’t come till 45 min later. Overall it’s just over priced and bad service. Did I mention the 60 years old hostess was rude and unapologetic for anything he says?

As good as ever. I’ve been coming here for 25 years or so. Not much has changed (which is good). The NY Strip w au poivre is not quite a Paris classic but it is damn tasty. Creamed spinach is the best restaurant version I’ve ever had. Also, the fried calamari remains perfect. Service can be casual and spotty but friendly. As long as that is your expectation all will be good. My only quibble would be the drinks are small/pricey. What I really enjoyed was the somewhat old school San Francisco charm. Blue collar-ish and thankfully devoid of typical Valencia street tech folks. Expect about $100/person with 3-ish courses, tip, taxes and SF 4% mandate.

The Drunken Prawns are absolutely delicious! The salad unfortunately had hard unripe avocado on it, and they no longer have the goat cheese salad that was so good.

Just a classic SF solid steakhouse. Our gang had New York or Filet steaks (all medium rare, of course) and all of us really enjoyed with some great red wine. Decent portions, too. The 2 of us that ordered au poivre sauce on steak (o1 NY, 1 Filet) both exclaimed about how delicious. Fun night.
