   Terrible attitude from everyone there Never been to a place that doesn’t care about the customer including the Manager Food was not hot when served and any issue you have their respond is that’s just the way it is ? Maybe a change in management is needed

   Our anniversary dinner was excellent. The shrimp appetizer was the best choice we've had. The $51 option is now $54🤷🏻‍♂️ yet is still a great value. Steak was cooked perfectly, my wife enjoyed the crap cakes, my shrimp were flavorful unfortunately overcooked ie chewy. Half of our combined entrees came home with us as did 3 desserts 🙄😋 I had the Smoked Old Fashioned which didn't appeal to me. The Whiskey Sour I had to replace it was great. My primary issue with J. Gilbert's OP is the reservations/greeting staff. The dress, appearance & personal conduct is that of slobs hired off the street and is such a contrast to the wait staff.

   We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary with some dear friends. It was busy Friday evening, but we never felt slighted nor rushed. The pace and quality of dinner was superb. If we could afford it, we'd go back more often, but J Gilbert's is certainly a great "go to" place for celebrations! Thanks for making our special day wonderful!

   My favorite place for dinner on special occasions. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent. I had the seafood grill. Our server kept a good eye on us but allowed us to enjoy ourselves without being constantly in our faces.

   We always have a great meal here. The portions are filling and reasonably-priced. We had the pork chop and the salmon, and both were cooked perfectly. While I can recommend all of the desserts, one hidden gem is the lime-mint sorbet that's one of the "ice cream" flavors made in-house. It tastes like summer!

    Outstanding food, great service. But not an inexpensive meal. Expect to pay about $150 for a full meal and drinks for two including tip.

    My wife’s favorite restaurant, not mine. Food was average - pork chop was dry. Server was unengaged, an order taker at best. No input re suggestions, what do we like, we should try, etc. I looked down at the menu to ask a question & server was gone. Sat with empty plates & glasses while staff walked back n& forth past our table without stopping. For close to a $200 bill, I can do a lot better.

    They probably could improve the sound deadening acoustics in the primary dining room. Once the tables are > 50% occupied it becomes difficult to carry on table conversations....

    Great meal and service was pretty good. Our waitress forgot my espresso martini, as I think everyone was more concerned about getting off work. And I'd like the manager to know it doesn't look so good when you're leaving the restaurant and see one of your staff laid out on a banquette in the lobby without their skies on playing on their phone and no one wishing us well on the way out. Looked very tacky and inappropriate for a fine dining establishment.

    I’ll start by saying the food is amazing and the cocktails are really good too. The service was really bad especially for the caliber of restaurant it’s supposed to be. If I’m spending $200 on dinner I expect incredible service, no empty drinks and zero frustration over waiting for the check. Then we pay and after we leave I added the total of our check in my head plus tax (realize we were overcharged but failed to grab our copy of the receipt ). It takes a lot for my husband to not leave a 20% tip and I saw him do it twice last night. The food was great but it’s not worth the price when the service is terrible. There are many top notch steak restaurants in Kansas City and I will not be going back to this one.

    My wife had the 12 oz steak which was cooked to perfection. Stephanine recommended the halibut which was very good as well! We both had the Prime Fixe Menu which was really worth getting!!

    Best Birthday dinner ever! That warm sour dough bread is deadly. I coukdn’t stop eating it with the truffle butter! The lobster bisque was so creamy and flavorful, The filet was beyond tender, the lobster mac-n-cheese has this lightly sprinkled seasoned breadcrumbs on top and was the best I’ve ever had! That chocolate cake wasn’t too sweet… but was so light and fluffy. OMG! Everything was perfect!

    We have been going to JGilberrs for over 15 years. It seems like the quality of steak has dropped. Not sure if it is the current climate of steaks etc. Service and Ambiance still great.

    J Gilbert’s is our special occasion spot. Birthdays and Anniversary give us three trips a year plus an extra visit if we have out of town guests. Always great food and wait staff. On the rare occasion there is an issue with a meal it is always addressed immediately. Can’t say enough good things about this place.
