Jack Astor's - Kingston
Our mission? Great people helping other great people totally have a blast while enjoying amazing food. Wow, that was a mouthful. But can you blame us? We’re a restaurant. One that specializes in delicious food and great times. Our goal is to make you laugh. And depending on your hot sauce tolerance, cry.
In all seriousness, we take real pride in our food. Try our Cluckin’ Fresh Chicken Fingers, made and seasoned with fresh, never frozen chicken tenders. This isn’t run-of-the-mill pub grub.
But outside of the kitchen, we find it hard to take ourselves seriously. We have an Elvis booth. For no particular reason. Folks, that really does say it all. We’re sports fanatics, music nuts and love a good joke. If you’re into at least one of those things, we should hang out.
Also have a great time at Jack Astor's Kingston. The staff are amazing and the food consistently good. The rooftop patio is a must in the summer - great views and wonderful atmosphere. I always recommend Jack Astor's to friends and family.
Lovely evening celebrating my daughters birthday. Our server was amazing, just the right mix of attentive but aware that we didn’t want to rush our meal. Lovely table overlooking the square on the patio.
Went in at 7:30pm on Monday’s august 19th, and had a very quick wait for the patio. While waiting we ordered a bottle on wine at the bar. We paid right away and took our wine to the patio in just minutes.
We then waited 15 minutes to be greeted.
A few tables by the sides with a view had opened so we asked our server if we could move. She said she’d have to ask the server then went over and waited at a table for another server for a few seconds. Then came back and said she was checking with the host.
I didn’t want to make a big deal so told her not to worry.
Then ordered two medium rare steaks with mashed potatoes and a Cesar instead of side veg. Something we do all the time at other Jack Astor’s. Also, mind you I used to manage at Jack Astors. This was all so shocking and sad to see.
She said the kitchen would not allow her to sub a Cesar salad in for a side veg on our classic steak and mash. So I tested her and said okay .
Then said she’d check and came back in less than 30 seconds to say it was okay. Clearly pretending to go to the kitchen in an attempt to persuade us to change our order
Waited 40 minutes after ordering a medium rare steak, to be told they were out of 7oz and we’d be getting a New York. Also it’s the kitchens fault as the just told the server. Not buying it
5 minutes later manager comes by and says no steaks in house. Apologizes says they’ll pay for the meal and we order a burger and butter chicken to replace.
Then he be brings two salmons over 15 minutes later. We say we didn’t order salmon and he just says “oh okay” and walks away.
At 9pm another couple came by who had been watching us and told us we should just leave.
Worst service. So upset that Jacks Astor’s Kingston ruined our night
Amazing experience on the rooftop patio, but music was so loud it was hard to talk, servers did accommodate and let us move tables, overall a great night
Great rooftop patio. Prompt service. Good selection of food.
First time at this location. Hostess are very friendly and accommodating. We sat at the rooftop. Great weather and nice view too.
We always enjoy our time on the roof top patio. Great drink selection. Decent food.
Your restaurant is the best!!! We come to eat whenever we are in Kingston
Visited Kingston for Canada Day weekend from Toronto. We heard that the rooftop patio was awesome so decided to book a table for four. Reviews read from previous customers experiences were considered when booking. I don’t put a lot of faith in others reviews and am a gambler at heart...not!!
Table was ready when we arrived and we were immediately seated on rooftop patio at 7 pm. Our server was by far the most awesome server ON THE PLANET!! Sabrina was fun, efficient and attentive, not to mention absolutely drop-dead stunning!!!
Meals were timely served and all was excellent despite the fact the entire restaurant was packed!!
I have zero negative feedback!! We’ll be back!!
The lack of sunshade / umbrella was unbearable like you would see in a very cheap terrace. For this reason we didn't take an aperitif / appetizer and have taken the dessert and coffee somewhere else. We were 6 adults and a teenager so make the math...
We have eaten there a few times and generally were happy with our meals. We wanted a rooftop patio seat and while we did get one, there was very little shade, so we had to move downstairs to the indoor part of the restaurant. More shade would greatly add to the experience. One of the meals was not satisfactory, as it was “soggy” and was supposed to be crispy. They did take it off the bill without any prompting, which was great. The service was good. The rest of the food was good as well. I would recommend Jack Astor’s Kingston as it is usually a pretty good place to eat and has a great view of downtown Kingston from the rooftop patio.
Are lunch with Co-worker on the rooftop , nice day and the table had shade. There were an abundance of workers and our server was great.
The service for the 10 of us was terrible. The waiter was frazzled forgetful and totally stressed out. First drink orders took 25 minutes and second round was 30 minutes. The food was great...well presented. The waiter continued to blame the influx of customers. But Thursdsy night ...what do you expect.
It was our daughter’s university graduation and there was a problem with the tablet when our was placed and our order wasn’t received by the kitchen, then general manager made a point of coming to our table to advise us of this and apologize repeatedly. At the end of it she came back and apologized again and took care of our daughter’s meal as well as the 2 apps we had! The crab and lobster dip AMAZING!!!
This was no fault of the server or the staff but technology!
The only thing missed was being asked if I collected Scene Points....so I missed out on those:(. Overall great food, great service! We will return for date night.
Thank you for being a part of making our daughter’s graduation day very special!!
Sad that we were at second floor because I didn’t mention I want first one. I want to watch basketball game...
We went there for my daughter’s birthday (6 of us). Tristan our server was amazing, very friendly.
The food was excellent and not over pricy. If you want a place for a family diner I highly recommend Jack Astor’s.
Didn’t acknowledge birthday at all. Didn’t honour reservation for patio. Had to sit in the noisy inside. Drinks were made totally wrong.
On the roof top which is fantastic. Waiter that very good and would check in frequently. Food order was slow and took around forty minutes from the time we ordered.
Our waitress Emily made our birthday celebration for my daughter extra special. She made our experience 5 star
I visited the restaurant for dinner and drinks for my 40th birthday and the service was atrocious. My party had 8 people, there was almost no one else in the restaurant and we had to seek out our server several times to get more drinks, order our food, etc. She took my order and no one else’s so my food came before the rest of my party had even ordered. Several of our drinks and orders were forgotten and never came. The service was awful and the food was cold by the time it arrived. Not the kind of birthday party I was hoping for. Very disappointing.
The service wasn't great. Our server didn't really seem to know what she was doing and forgot things multiple times. Also, our food and coffee were cold.
Very nice. My date and I had a very good time
A consistent dining experience. We appreciate the attention of staff to food allergy, and that their order system includes food allergy warnings.
The people are lovely but I like the Jack Astor’s in Toronto better. The food is a bit better and I found the drinks in Kingston were very watered down
Asked to be moved as water dripped on one chair. Another group was also seated there later, also asked to be moved. Repeating this indicates poor hospitality. There was a sign behind the chair that floor was wet.
Too noisy. Not great value.
No worries. Won’t be back.
Think I was there on an off night (I hope) Not my usual experience. When they brought the food to our table they brought the wrong dish to one person, so they had to re make the correct one. The pasta was hot on the bottom and cold at the top as if it was sitting on top of a heater on another dish. One other pasta dish was barely warm. The waitress took away an empty cup of pop and didn't bring another one. We had to ask for one. They did comp the appetizer because the missing dish took so long. The rest of us were almost done when the clubhouse finally came out. Hopefully it was just as off night for the restaurant.
Our server was great however our food was not. The broccoli bites were cold when they came to the table... we asked for fresh and received them about 15 min later. Our main course came to the table also cold and I think the meals were sitting under the warming light too long. It was not good at all.
Our waitress, Jessica, was busy flirting with the males around the bar area instead of paying attention to her customers in the Booth area. Forgot to set us up with napkins and silverware and had to be reminded multiple times about our requests. It wasn't a busy night either
Decor was nice. Service was slow, and so-so. Food was overpriced snd underwhelming.
My husband and I had fajitas for two, they were excellent and more than enough for both to enjoy.
The food was terrible. Chicken tenders were rubbery and cold. Shrimp pasta the shrimp was over cooked . The sesame chicken the chicken tasted like frozen chicken bites. I would not recommend this to anyone
Way to expensive. It would not be my first recommendation to people. For the price better food is available.
Overall good experiance however disappointed in the lack of garlic pan cheese bread. Also the wings I got didn’t have as much sauce as they have in previous visits which was also disappointing for me personally
We had reservations for 630 pm and got our table on time. Ordered our food (4 people) at 645pm and received it at 750 pm. the waitress was aware that we had a show to be at for 8 pm. She was very annoyed herself but was unable to speed up the kitchen.
The restaurant seemed more interested in seating and feeding walk-ins then those of us that had made reservations ahead of time.
I have no plans on ever returning to Jack Astor’s
Had a reservation for 6:15 on a Thursday night to have dinner before attending a concert. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. We ordered a drink and water each. Decided on what to eat and ordered at 6:35. Two other tables came in after us, a party of 8 and a party of 4. We noticed that appetizers came out for the larger party around 7, we still had no dinner. We flagged our server down at 7:15 to ask where our meal was. At this point, our drinks were empty, with 1/2 glass of water each. She went to check and returned 10 minutes later to say that the manager was apologetic and that they would take care of our meal. I said that's nice, but where is our order? The server said it wouldn't be much longer. We watched all the tables around us get their food, eat, and one table had left before our order came out. Our order arrived at our table at 7:45, cold. I ordered a cheeseburger that came with a side of fries. The bun was dried out, the burger was cold, the fries were dried out and cold. My companion order fajitas. There was so much grease in the fajitas, you could touch the cast iron pan and it was lukewarm. We ate as quick as we could, now with no drinks of any kind. Our server came by and stood at a table beside us and asked if everything was ok, to which we told her everything was cold. She walked away. We sat waiting until 8:05 when we asked another server for our bill. She apologized and went and found our server. We said we felt we shouldn't have to pay for anything, but she said we did need to pay for our one drink each ($13.13 each). We were so furious that we paid and left. This was my first dining experience at Jack Astor's and will be my last.
The server was less than enthusiastic at the beginning of our visit, though she warmed up as the night went on. We were informed by her that Sundays is not a great night to visit as they are often out of many items on the menu or ingredients. For example, they did not have any avocados at our visit so no guacamole. I ordered a glass of white wine and it took 25 minutes for the server to finally tell me the wine was warm and she suggested I order something else to drink, which I still had to pay for.
They’d run out of both lettuce - hence none of the salads were available - and shrimp. Too many flies and dirty tables everywhere! Cocktails were nice though.
Your volume for your Music/TV's is way too loud for the older crowd . Unless you want to cater just to the younger crowd who loves to spend money . My wife and I checked out your Roof Top and the placed was y filled with much younger people ... That must be most of your Cliental plus they have extra money to spend . We will be back to Jack Astor's but please turn the volume down . If you do respond please do not make it sound like a boring hollow corporate response
Em (our waitress) made a great experience out of our visit, food was great with a lovely ambience and awesome service
We were there on the Sunday night of the long week end. I expected it to be busy. But there was definitely not enough staff on duty to properly accommodate the guests on hand. Little attention paid to us.....a lot of waiting to be looked after....there was a key ingredient missing from one of our plates. By the time our server did a check back, our meals were almost done. She offered to bring the missing avocado, but what were we going to do with it then? Meal was almost over. A discount or a complimentary dessert would have been appropriate.
