Jack Astor's - Pickering
In all seriousness, we take real pride in our food. Try our Cluckin’ Fresh Chicken Fingers, made and seasoned with fresh, never frozen chicken tenders. This isn’t run-of-the-mill pub grub. Our Band of Chefs are influenced by a wide variety of tastes and have travelled across the globe to gain inspiration.
But outside of the kitchen, we find it hard to take ourselves seriously. We have an Elvis booth. For no particular reason. Folks, that really does say it all. We’re sports fanatics, music nuts and love a good joke. If you’re into at least one of those things, we should hang out.
Inattentive staff made my overall experience very stressful.
Went for a Birthday and had a great time. Our server was friendly and knew the menu.
Went there for a specific menu item and it was great as always.
Great place to hang out with family and friends, kids love the food and the beer selection is awesome
We had a birthday celebration and were able to bring a cake. Our waitress Courtney also brought a brownie for the bday dude. We had great service! Thanks!
Good food. AMAZING service. Our server Courtney who was new, made what would have been an average night out for drinks, a fun and personable experience. We even left with souvenirs of the evening...
The food is over priced for what it is. And I am still surprised that the waitresses dress the way they do. Is it not 2019 and we are more aware? It definitely makes women feel uncomfortable and as soon as I walked it I recalled why I hadn't been there in several years. Not a place you want to take your family.
We enjoyed the food. Jerica, our server was excellent! She provided an above average level of service. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was very pleasant t and that added to our dining experience!
Excellent service and fun atmosphere. We were there for my daughter’s birthday and they really took care of our group. Very attentive
We went for my son’s birthday he really enjoyed it
The service was too slow. When we sat down, the waitress took too long to take our order.
The portion size was too small. You get bigger portions at other places. The "fajitas" plate did not have many varieties as compare to other places (please look into this). You need more vegetarian dishes also. More healthy options for non-alcoholic shakes. Include more vegetarian soup options. Need to do seniors/birthday discounts.
food at pickering jack Astors is by far the best, I've tried other jack Astors but don't get the same service. I love coming to this one for dates or just for fun, the workers have yet to displease me. I will come back as always.
Way too noisy. Couldn't hear each other and had to raise our voices. We were beside a large party of teenaged who were loud and it affected our enjoyment of dinner.
Need more variety on menu. The food was good but there wasn't enough variety
It was New Year's Eve! So it was packed and the noise level extreme. Staff was amazing and appeared to be coping extremely well. Food we ordered arrived in a timely manner.
I was a little disappointed to have to wipe up ketchup from the table and seat prior to sitting down, but our server apologized.
Next was the glass for my wine. It was probably one of the dirtiest (not just water stained) that I have ever been served. Again, our server apologized and replaced the glass and it’s full contents.
New Year’s Eve! Was lively and a nice family vibe. Our waiter was great!
The food wasn't that good the portions were small. The prices were expensive for portions size. I wouldn't have mine if the food tasted good. I will never go back.
The specials are great to try. Change from the standard menu fair.
Terrible! Food is mediocre, at best, and way overpriced. $20 for a bowl of rice, a tsp of sauce and 3 small pieces of tuna???!! Outrageous.
Our bill was over $100 for a drink, 3 entrees (overcooked chicken fingers, a burger and a tiny rice bowl) and one dessert. This is food you can expect at a rundown pub....all for one-third the price!
We’ve eaten here before and wanted to give it another chance. It was our daughter’s special birthday dinner, and this was the restaurant she chose. Huge regret. Could have had a top-notch dinner at a fine restaurant for what we paid. Will not eat here again and DO NOT recommend this place.
The only upside was our server. He was pleasant and engaging (although he forgot two of the standard condiments we requested)
Surprised us with a dessert on the house, as it was a special occasion. Nice touch!
Took forever for water to come out. Asked more than three times. Food also took a while and was cold.
Also booked this restaurant as a surprise birthday dinner which I wrote on the OpenTable note for the restaurant to see. When I arrived with the person that the surprise was for, the hostess kept asking about how many people the reservation was for and if any kids were arriving. I had to answer these questions in front of the surprise celebrant. He thought the dinner was only for me and him. However, after answering these questions - he became skeptical. The hostess ruined the surprise.
The food was very good(ordered the fajitas-steak & shrimp)Gave us a corner booth which I requested & the service & server(Julie) was excellent.I will be back very soon.
Good service, food was good but would not recommend the steak. A bit over cooked and pricey (same prices as the Keg but poorer quality and amount).
Good atmosphere, our server Abby was really nice & friendly. Got our food on time, just this time the steak was a bit tough. Overall experience was great.
Quick service and love the choices of hot sauce available :)
Average food , overpriced, terrible service....food was dropped down and no one ever returned. The bill was dropped with everyone’s plate still in front of them.
Calamari was a little rubbery but everything else was great!
Great Service, Delicious Food
Good food and friendly waitress, but poor pacing. The appetizers came moments before the main course not leaving us with enough time to finish. 8yr old son’s food arrived 5m after my wife and I were served our meals. My wife’s wine arrived after she had finished her meal. Finally, to add insult to injury, it took 20 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it. So all in all - disappointing.
The waiter had one job to do, and that was to execute my special request for a birthday desert with the birthday girl’s name written on the plate. He forgot to check ask or confirm causing the birthday girl to feel embarrassed, I was embarrassed I was very disappointed, and I can guarantee that I will no longer be coming back to that restaurant for any special occasions or events.
We go here frequently. The fact we can make reservations through OneTable is a huge bonus. My daughter loves their Pan Bread, chicken fingers, Sesame Chicken bowl and chicken Parmesan. When we was younger - and ate from the childrens menu - she loved the tacos or chicken there too.
Myself - I love the original nachos - with beef chili. HUGE portion. Never finish it. But delicious. I get it without their cheese "sauce" and have with regular shredded cheese instead. More authentic for me. I also love the Sesame Chick bowl.
Husband loves to have steak here as well.
We were disappointed with the fish. The kids liked the burgers and my son enjoyed his steak but ki wouldn't order the fish and chips again.
We had a delicious meal. Our server, Abbey, was wonderful and certainly added to our enjoyment. We will definitely be going back.
When we got there were seated right away. Great food and our server was awesome! It is not too noisy...my husband and I could still each other. Music, ambience and live sports added value!
I visited Jack Astor's in Pickering with some visitors from overseas,we all enjoyed the occasion the food was great and our server Alysia could not have been more pleasant or helpful, thank you,we will be back.
Food and service were good but not great
Our server Sydney was wonderful and the food was good!
Everything was excellent. It was very noisy. But it was Friday night of a long weekend so that’s expected and will not stop us from going there again.
I went through the effort of making reservations through Open Table, to save time and not wait in line to be seated. So when we arrived, I mentioned to the hostess that we had reservations, she kindly asked my name and how many guests. Shortly after, she replied that there were no reservations made under that name, that time and that many guests. So I was asked to take a seat and wait 30 minutes or so for a table.
I was so disappointed in your service that Jack Astor's had no proof of my reservation. Finally, 15 minutes later I found the email confirmation of my reservations which the hostess accepted.
How do you compensate for this?
