Jack Astor's - Richmond Hill
Not big on change? Don’t worry! Juggy the Bartender is still here! Plus we kept the same great food that made us special- like our chicken fingers, which we’re pretty sure creates champions! Just ask Wendel Clark, Ben Johnson, Trish Stratus and Milos Raonic. They’ve been eating our chicken fingers for years. Who knows where they’d be without the Jack Astor’s balanced diet?
Get your butt down here right now!
Evan was a great server. It was busy but we didn’t wait long for anything. Great job!
Worst experience. Sadly it was my birthday dinner too. The music was far too loud to enjoy conversation. I waited much to long to get my meal while my family was served. When my meal arrived (an entree salad) it was wrong but because it was a salad I ate it thinking maybe I was missing something. I looked at the menu after and it was definitely the wrong salad and had dietary items I don’t eat. It was too mixed for me to know. My husband said his poutine was the worst he had tried.
The service was amazing but the food was cold.
Really enjoyed the food. Could not find the server to tell her that the fountain drink needed more carbonation. But other then that everything was great.
Clare was fantastic!!! Would definitely go back and ask to sit in her section again
New salads are not great but expensive
Servers were very responsive
I love Jack Astors it's usually my go to because no matter what location I am at the food taste/quality is pretty consistent. This experience was one of my lesser ones. The service was slightly slower than usual, we had a time restraint as it was a work lunch and it just wasnt as quick as we would of liked. The food was great once is arrived so that's always good!
Went here with 2 kids - everyone's meal was really bad. Kids didn't eat. The servers were great though! Food quality definitelly was really awful.
It was like all Jack Astor's, the service was good, got a decent table, food was good.
I like jack astors. Decent food, decent prices. Drinks could use some work but one thing I have noticed with jack astors as this is now the third time this has happened at different locations so not sure if it’s their training but they always deliver their entrees before you are finished your appetizers!!! And even when you tell them nicely that “wow, that was fast, we are not even finish our appetizers” they don’t seem to care. Now I hate eating cold food so you either have to not finish your apps to eat your hot entree or eat a lukewarm entree in order to finish your apps. Depending on my mood, I would tell them to take it back but didn’t this time. So managers, train your staff to gauge when to bring out the entrees not when the apps are half eaten!!!!!!
I had been here before and had a great experience but tonight the service was non existent and I had to wait for everything
Typically I go to jack astors and never have an issue. Unfortunately, that was not the case this time. Our appetizers came out at the exact same time as our entrees. Even after we confirmed with our waiter that it would be before. The drinks we ordered were not what was brought out. It seemed as if our waiter was annoyed by us requiring so much. My fajita wraps were soggy and my meat was overdone. The person who had steak mentioned his steak which he had requested rare was well done.
The people I was with flew in from out of province and I’m terribly upset that I brought them to Jack Astor’s for a meal. Next time. I will be choosing any other restaurant.
Food was okay, kinda expected a bit more.
Once a decent choice for family dinner, the revised menu (around mid 2018?) and overall food quality is disappointing.
Due to its convenient location and crowd-pleasing franchise-esque menu, I still "recommend" it - not for its dining experience, but as a good choice for group meetups.
Seven orders placed - all seven needed to be returned - salmon was overcooked and steaks were undercooked, despite we specified how we wanted the food cooked. Avocado, served with the salmon, was hard and green. People could have gotten sick with the meat. The bruschetta appetizer had very soft cheese instead of feta cheese and was very sloppy to eat.
Wine glasses came out dirty, and the table was not set with the correct number of utensils sets despite our reservation. Our waiter was too busy.
Very disappointed. Waste of time and money. Ruined a special birthday occasion.
I felt so upset, I booked the 8:30Pm on the “open table”. When I arrived there 8:25Pm, the lady told me that they gave me call and no answer, so they gave the table to the others. In fact, I did not received any call. Then she gave me a bar table with no TV And that day was the champion day. It's very narrow, just enough for one person. So we left. We just stay at home and watch Tv. So bay day.
Very accommodating of vegan diet
Two of us had the Italian burger and it was excellent. Other favourite was the cheeseburger. Service was great.
I could not believe how attentive the two bartenders were as I came in a a single. They gave great advice and followed through to make sure everything was good. I will book a hotel nearby again just so I can come back
Pasta is tasty
Little choice on the menu
Jack Astor's has cut cost too deep. We ordered a cheese and bacon burger, it was extremely tiny as compared to half a year ago. We also ordered the steak fajitas, the steak was tasteless and portion was much smaller than when we visited half a year ago.
Perfect for young children. Great fajitas!
waitress nice, food good, service fast... pretty noisy but all in all fine
Our waiter Rob was great! Great service! He actually proactively asked if anyone was having a birthday. Which the answer was yes. Drinks and food all came out with good timing And we didn’t have to wait long for our check.
Went for a birthday and watch the leafs. Good evening. Had the calamari (could have been better) bruschetta was great. The bacon burger and the buffalo chicken wings were amazing. Fries could have been fresh cut.
I have ordered a medium steak...the steak turn up to be medium well. The fried onion that comes with the steak is greasy and cold. The beans are not trimmed and they are very undercook. Probably the worst steak i have ever had in my life. I went there at 1:30pm...maybe the chef went home? I prefer moxie’s or the keg.
I have also ordered a ceaser salad, its okay. Lobster dip is good.
Excellent service. We had a last minute change, and they were very accommodating. Thanks guys!
My son always chooses Jack Astor’s when we get a special lunch date together - he’s 5! I appreciate that you allow me to order “all flats” for my wings and he likes the Orange Sorbet included in the kids meal. We were in a rush to see a show and our servers got us in and out without delay.
Class NY Steak and fishes & chips beyond my expectation.
I haven't been to Jack Astor's in years. The menu seemed to have shrunk, which I think it a good thing because I remember it was like, 10 pages long. My friend ordered the quesadillas and I had the fried chicken sandwich. The quesadillas were a bit on the small size (i'm mindful that it was considered an appetizer, but it was a bit pricey for the portion size). The fried chicken sandwich tasted delicious, although i wasn't a fan of the bun, as it wasn't soft and kept falling apart. Service was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush so it was fine for us. We had the brownie dessert and it was good.
Made reservations for 7 people for 1 (indicated two children). On arrival, ignored for at least 5 minutes - then advised they had to get the table ready?? Our table located right outside the kitchen and right next to a very large group. Noise was ridiculous - we couldn't even speak and my chair was continuously bumped by staff and patrons trying to get by. Waited almost an hour for food - had a 5 and 3 year old waiting for lunch. Not acceptable. Server did best he could however should have had more staff on given the number of groups in the restaurant. Not the best experience for the price. This was a birthday celebration for the 5 year old and didn't feel we celebrated properly given we had no room to visit and because of the activity could barely talk to one another.
Too crowded, very noisy. Definitely not the atmosphere I like to experience for dinner.
i ordered the salmon and asked for it to be cooked medium. it was over cooked and dry. the description included a jalapeno butter which was bland. it was truly an unremarkable dish. my companion had a salad that looked decent and was a better option.
Our server Justin was absolutely amazing! Full of personality and very helpful. Made our night very enjoyable!!! Food was great!
Service was a little spotty. One minute our server was there and then next gone. Hard to enjoy a meal when you can’t find your server to get your bill.
Can’t go wrong with Jack’s for a casual non-fussy dinner out. There’s something on the menu for everyone and the service is always consistently good.
New Years Eve family dinner.
Food and service was wonderful. Everyone cleaned their plates.
