In all seriousness, we take real pride in our food. Try our Cluckin’ Fresh Chicken Fingers, made and seasoned with fresh, never frozen chicken tenders. This isn’t run-of-the-mill pub grub. Our Band of Chefs are influenced by a wide variety of tastes and have travelled across the globe to gain inspiration.
But outside of the kitchen, we find it hard to take ourselves seriously. We have an Elvis booth. For no particular reason. Folks, that really does say it all. We’re sports fanatics, music nuts and love a good joke. If you’re into at least one of those things, we should hang out.
Great experience as usual. Absolutely love the steak
One plate came out burnt and another had a bad taste. Prob will be a long time before we return. Not a place for family especially a young family.
Great experience. Food was very good, an excellent server, great beer selection and they even had a deal on bottles of wine. Always enjoy going to Jack's!
At this point based on the food preparation of all 4 of our steaks I would not. We were seated by friendly staff, served by a great young girl named Amy and the service was great. However, here is where things went off the rails. All 4 of us ordered steaks ranging from medium rare to well done. The medium rare steaks was done more to blue, barley even heated. The toppings on the first try was right. On the returned steak is was still not what I would call medium rare. It was pink on one side and cooked on the other and it came with no toppings. The toppings were brought melted on a plate after I requested them.
The well done steak was not well done but almost charcoal the second time. The second medium rare came out more rare then medium. Blood was running and the middle was not heated. The final steak came out the second time close to medium but still had a fair amount of blood running out of it. The appetizers were fine. The drinks were fine. However, they also ran out of sauces for 2 of the 4 of us.
Food and service was just ok. 1 of 6 meals was missed and waitress had to go back looking for it.
The worst service/experience I’ve had in a long time.
They said they didn't have my reservation. But they had room for us so it was okay however now i dont get my points with open table for booking through them.
It was our anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal
The service was good but the food wasn’t great!! We had a variety of food and was disappointed in just about everything we ordered!! The only thing that was good was the drinks!! We have been customers since the place opened !! Not sure what happened this time!! Going to be a while before we head back!!
The music is way too loud ..
The food was excellent and so was the service. I will never go to jack astors on a Sunday in the future, they have sporting events blaring in the background . I was told this is what they do every Sunday, was not enjoyable
Fabulous as always
It was fairly loud. Louder than usual. Food and service were great other than that.
Dip was icy cold . They brought out a hot one after my meal arrived. Meal arrived with red onion after I had asked for none. Another guest in our party had an ice cold poutine . They brought out a new one and it was still cold. My wrap was soggy and wet have no idea why. Always enjoy jack astors. Either the quality has gone down hill or they were having a bad night. Was super disappointing .
Too hot. Food quality poor. Cold and far too much garlic.
My son’s 18th Burthdat
I would totally recommend Jack Astors, the food was excellent, the drink options are fun, and the sayings on the servers' t shirts were adorable
First time there. Food was good and service was great! Overall decent place to go.
My son took me out for my birthday! Had a great meal and dessert was fabulous, as usual.
Service was absolutely horrible. Waiting almost 30min for drinks for the kids. Not sure where the server was for almost 2hrs. Didn’t make my wife’s birthday experience very good, that’s for sure. Lesson learned
Excellent place to enjoy a meal, very friendly service and great atmosphere.
Service was amazing verry friendly server and staff food was not woth the price can't see my self going back there
Great upbeat place..friendly staff...great food...go there regularly
Extremley noisy and people sitting next to us were very noisy and swearing a lot
Great service and food was delicious!
Service was better than the food. At our table the burger was excessively dry, nachos were good, three orders of chicken strip were quite nice. My rice and veggie dish with grilled chicken was decent but trying to eat healty, this dish was very salty and the grilled chicken was cooked to the point of being very dry.
Yes. They have gluten free hamburger buns which is important to us because of Celiac disease. Would be great if they also had gluten free pizza. Service is good and the atmosphere is enjoyable. Will certainly recommend and visit again soon.
Had a wonderful evening, made my husband's birthday a great event. Our server Claire was very sweet.
Our Server Robyn was excellent. The meal was just as good as her service, thanks.
Always consistent food but inconsistent service. Our reso was for 10:45... it wasn’t busy, it took 24min for our drinks. Unacceptable. When drinks came, two were mixed wrong.
Would only recommend IF younger people. We were mid 50, and the rest 60-70. We should have just turned around and left right from start, as the music was so loud, we could not talk or enjoy our visit. Not a great experience due to noise levels.
I had asked for a table with a view as three couples getting together for reunion, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. The first table was a booth in the BAR backs to the street. Moved to get away from noise and still too loud so they then moved us to the dining room by the kitchen.
Oh well should have read reviews as would never have planned our reunion dinner at Jack Astor’s.
Music is far too loud for having a meal with my family at 6 pm. It was peaking at 94 decibels on my app. Really enjoy food here but the music volume is driving myself and friends away
Typical sports bar, chain restaurant, pub food place. Not so loud that you couldn't chat at the table, but also loud enough that you can sing along to the music. Great service, friendly server. Food is a decent price for what you get. Nice that they had some Newfoundland craft beers on tap.
Nice place to eat but its super loud for a restaurant.
food was excellent and the service was great. the restaurant was clean and the music moderate
Overall experience was good. Waitress was not up on specials and a couple dishes were delayed in respect to all other meals at the table. It was hard to get a waiters attention between ordering and receiving.
I made a reservation for a low table and for a birthday celebration for a table for 6. When we arrived, we had to wait so they could put a couple of tables together. The restaurant was not full and we only had to wait a few minutes but I was surprised as I would have thought when making a reservation that a table would be ready. I reminded them we had made a reservation but my comment was essentially dismissed and was met with little regard.
We were seated at a high table in the middle of the bar next to a table with about 20 drunk men who were so loud we could not even carry on a conversation. Plus we had a 12 year old with us. We ate our food but there was no mention of the birthday occasion that I had indicated in my reservation. Our server was fine and the food was good but the hostess/reservation experience was the worst I have experienced. Very unfortunate. My entire purpose for making the reservation was because of the birthday occasion and one of the guests had a back issue and sitting at high tables is very uncomfortable. This individual stood by the side of the table for a portion of the meal. After mentioning the reservation and the reception I received, I didn’t mention it again as to not make the guests I was with uncomfortable by complaining.
Once again Jack Astor's in St. John's, NL provides another great memory with delicious food and awesome service for our family. Wish i could remember the name of our waitress and the ladies that helped bring out our food, cause i would tell her and them that they all did an awesome job :) Food came out pretty fast, and there wasn't one bit left on my plate. I would recommend this place to everyone. Hats off to the Chef!
Thanks again Jack Astor's, well done!
Really friendly and quick service. Overall good time!
As always, food and service was great! Music was almost too loud and there was a very loud, large group sitting near us...was sometimes hard to carry on a conversation.
