   We came for our anniversary and put on the reservation that it was for that when asked the occasion. To start we were put away in a corner that was hard to get in and out of with an empty table jammed up against us. Then a couple was placed at the table next to us and we were bumping into each other trying to leave because we were that close. What should have been a personal dinner was not. No desert or anything was provided for the occasional which is fine but you go to a place like this and order a drink, appetizers, and entree for 2 and spend over $150, you’d think that there would be a little more effort in accommodating. Plus they were out of a lot of food items that night. So to end this review if you make reservations for your anniversary you’ll only get confetti on the table and be jammed up next to others, lol. Better off going to Cena.

   Food was delicious!!! We’ve never experienced a bad meal prepared by Chef Eli!! Service was mediocre but it could have also been that maybe our server is new to the job. We did leave her a great tip. I would just suggest our table to be cleared throughout dining, etc. All in all, we enjoyed our evening and will be back soon!!

   Was very excited to try this place for the 1st time. House and inside was fairly nice. Upon sitting at our table, the water glasses on the table was dirty. Order our drinks and appetizers first. My drink came out and not my spouses. After several minutes, I asked again if her drink was going to come out. About 10 minutes later, the glass of wine arrived. Onto the entrée. Very expensive filet came out with French fries for the potatoe side as on the menu. Meat was extremely tough and wasn't good for this cost. Spouses meal was scallops which was just ok. So for $200 for dinner for 2 I think I will take my business somewhere else. Lastly, the inside area of the dining room had little black nats everywhere. I believe this was due to the bar area doors open to the back patio.

   Poor staffing resulted in huge wait times and being unattended. Nothing was offered to compensate until we (6) complained when we got our bill (2 1/2 hours after we arrived). Food was very good except two steaks were not hot. The atmosphere outside was great, but may have contributed to not being seen/served.

    What a pleasant experience!!! Such a calm, relaxing environment that feels open. More like home and less like an institution. I felt like I was on vacation. I will be coming back sooner than later!!!! Food was perfect!!!

    Availability as portrayed on Open table was very inaccurate. We were trying to arrange reservation for 6:30pm, but Open Table reported no openings past 6:00PM. However, that was far from the case. I only write this so that it can be corrected and maybe not deter others from visiting.

    We always enjoy Jacmel and we’re happy to see the service has improved since more people have been hired. The restaurant wasn’t full but busy on the Saturday night before Easter. The duo playing music is excellent! Love Ben Thomas! Although we know prices have increased for everything we feel the food is about to be priced higher than people will want/be able to pay. Our reservation was at 7 and surprisingly the restaurant was out of one menu item and ran out of a special as we ordered. Fortunately my sea bass and hubby’s steak were delicious!

    First time at Jacmel under new ownership. Very pleased with menu selections and specials. Value priced wine list, creative cocktails. My wife had the Steak Frites, cooked rare as she ordered, I had sea bass with sun choke purée, the special. Both entrees were creatively prepared and cooked perfectly. Topped off meal with Pontchatula strawberry shortcake. Delicious.

    This was our 4th time dinning at Jacmel Inn and each time we have been blown away. The ambiance is that of being welcomed into a lovely home as we were greeted by the pleasant hostess. We started with a perfectly prepared Martini by Hannah along with her very knowledgeable recommendation for a bottle of wine. Chef Eli Wilson has outdone himself with each visit. His gnocchi appetizer is better than any we had in Italy and I have to order it every time. My husband loves the steak tips. They are so flavorful and you can cut them with a fork. This visit we had the filet with butter poached lobster. The steak was perfectly cooked to order and the lobster was as tender as the steak which shows the skill in the kitchen. The strawberry shortcake and s'mores bread pudding were the perfect way to end an amazing meal. All of these delicious courses were brought to our table by our pleasant waitress, Holly. The flow of the meal was perfect, not rushed and no long delays between courses. The staff as a whole are extremely pleasant, professional and polished. We have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in New Orleans and elsewhere, and Jacmel Inn is definitely worth the 45 minute drive.

    Chef and his wife are not only great friends but talented beyond Hammond standard. Any similar class of restaurant in Hammond and surrounding areas cannot compare with the level of cuisine and service. Bar and service staff are so friendly and certainly a cut above. Similarly-priced restaurants here won't attract comparable talent because they aren't able to recognize it.

    Totally disappointing! Service was mediocre at best. The menu was a strange collection of options. The entree menu had 4 seafood and 3 beef options and no other offerings. Sadly the duck that Jacmel was famous for has since been removed from the menu. I thought it odd that at 7:00 pm on a Saturday night we were 2 of ten people dining there. Maybe a visit from Chef Robert Irvine would be in order. Won’t be back.

    Always enjoy Jacmel when wanting a special evening. Food excellent, as usual, and requested table was made available and set special for our Birthday celebration. Sadly the table service was less than typical. Our server wasn't attentive and delivery of initial drinks and appetizers was slow. Not sure why the distraction. Hana, the Mgr, came to the table to let us know our requested 2nd bottle of wine wasn't available and made a perfect selection for us as replacement. Professional, classy, courteous and greatly appreciated. Certainly will return.

    The steaks were cooked to perfection. The brussel sprouts were mouth watering and the portion was enough to share. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate. The staff was very accommodating for a birthday dinner for eight! I highly recommend Jacmel for any occasion.

    My wife and I had a $100 Jacmel’s Inn gift card given to us by a relative. We decided to make the drive to Hammond to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday and try Jacmel’s for the first time. We do not live in Hammond, so, if it were not for the gift card, we would not have made the trip and would have eaten locally in Covington. The restaurant was beautiful, the food was excellent. (it is very high price, but what you would expect for fine dining), and the service was pretty good. When I went to pay the bill, I handed her the gift card and told her it was $100, and please put that towards the bill She came back a very short time later and said “We couldn’t access it on the internet, and the only person who knows how to do that is the previous owner of the business.” We were both in shock I guess and did not want to make a scene as we were in a small intimate dining area with 2-3 other tables. So we were forced to come out of pocket an extra $100. We did not plan to spend that weekend (and should not have had to spend!). That extra unexpected cost caused us to have to cancel other plans we had that weekend as well. And now I STILL have a Jacmel’s gift card that DOES HAVE $100 on it. I don’t really care who used to own the restaurant and who owns it now… That should be their problem to figure out. They should’ve just taken the gift card and figured out the problem later. I have a gift card with their name on it that was purchased to eat food at THAT restaurant that they are not honoring. So diner beware!!!

    Food was good but way to expensive , there should be more options on menu and should be cheaper then what the price was, to price each item is ridiculous, the main entres should include salads and sides, who ever decided that each dish should have a price does not understand the industry of the restaurant, we will never return unless invited by someone else and they are paying, prices are ridiculous
