first time trying this place and we loved it. the calamari was a big serving for a cheap price compared to other places, and the wasabi mayo sauce they used was perfect. we also had the hot stone wagyu which was to die for. their sushi was good, a little expensive but worth it. i’ve been looking for a good sushi/sashimi place in town for a while and this one definitely hit the spot. will definitely be coming back!
The food was awesome. But I was put off when we were told when we arrived ' we won't help you till you put your mask on'. The server was great in the beginning but attitude kinda changed and seemed like we were inconveniencing him towards the end. I also felt like he tried to upsell us by saying it wasn't enough food so more was ordered and had to be taken home. Which I prefer sushi fresh. Other than that, the food itself was great.
Great night out with husband. Waitor was informative & attentive. Food was amazing.
Mango Fry, double double was delicious!
Also miso was pretty good.
The food and service were outstanding—the best sushi restaurant in Edmonton. The fish is the freshest I've ever had.
Food was great and drinks were great
Great eve. Great service
Wine choices could b better. Ask gurvinder Bhatia for free advice.
Service was great and food was fantastic.
Delicious food. Prompt service. Quality ingredients. Be sure to ask about specials if your server doesn't tell you.
I have been to Japonais before and it was good. I decided to go back for my anniversary and we didnt get the same product. The ambiance felt like I was eating in a library, too bright. Rolls were loose and kind of tasted the same. I'll probably come back for lunch but I'll wait until they get the night back to what it used to be.
very good food. Too bad some of the selection is limited to the current business situation.
always the best for sushi in Edmonton. Salmon pressed and hot stone beef are to die for!
Great food and service. Special something for us after
Best sushi in Edmonton by far. Chicken kaarage is amazing. We will be back again.
Food was good. Especially TNT rolls. Service was great and friendly.
Amazing and fresh, as always. Great service, great menu, great atmosphere.
A nicer patio setup would be appreciated. Maybe some more plants, a tablecloth, would spruce it up. The picnic benches aren’t the most upscale :P
1. Waiter crumpled the menu really aggressively after we were done, other waiter just took the other table’s menu nicely
2. Waiter did not come in and check on us at all, other than to give us the food and the bill
Most delicious meal I've had in ages. Absolutely no complaints! We had a wonderful time.
Your accommodation was Much appreciated. Thank you for having us.
Always fantastic food and service.
Fantastic as always!
We always get the Salmon Pressed and the TnT. Also got the Truffle Fry this time which was very good too.
Our favorite restaurant in Edmonton by far.
Our server was less than helpful. She stated what couldn’t be dine or what wasn’t available with a smugness, then did’t follow up with what was available or what could be done. She seemed to have very little knowledge of the food or drinks and not much interest in knowing ir recommending anything.
Food was excellent, but quite expensive $150 for 2 people for meal and 2 drinks each
The Japanese Caesar drink was the worst version of a Caesar I have ever tried- I couldn’t even drink it. It had a fishy taste.
My last visit was amazing a couple of months ago- maybecwe just got a bad seever
The usual great food and friendly, attentive service.
Great social distancing efforts as well.
Loved the calamari and the pressed salmon on rice. Edamame with anchovies lovely. Nice big booth and great server.
Service was prompt and attentive in just the right measure.
Best Japanese restaurant in the city!! It's always been packed every time we go so we aren't the only ones who think that.
Japonais Bistro might have taken over as the premier sushi restaurant in Edmonton.
The food was well priced, very well presented, ample and above all, very tasty!
It would be nice if there was more Japanese cultural items to allow the guest to immerse themselves in a more authentic Japanese dining experience.
Overall? Very, very good and we'll be back very soon!
It was amazing!! Best sushi I've ever had. My parents and I come visit her every time they are in Edmonton. It's fresh, delicious, and the atmosphere is great.
We specified it was a birthday dinner but no on seems care. Service was good and the waitress is friendly. Food quality is fair overall but not a big fan to the beef tataki.
Waitress was poor. She didn’t explain menu items very well. Nor was she very personable. Didn’t come back to fill up tea pots. Food was amazing as always though. Chicken karrage and new style roll in particular. Good prices as there are specials for salmon on Tuesdays.
Very good food and service
Awesome food, good drinks, but certain menu items can be expensive for specialty items but well worth the experience
Had the Bento Box at lunch for approx $16 and then again for dinner for approx $26. At lunch you got soup, salad and the chance to choose what you wanted. For dinner, no soup, no salad and no choice of what you get. I specifically asked for no octopus but got it anyway and it wan't edible. So tough you couldn't chew it. The salmon and tuna shashimi were very good as the sushi & tempura. At dinner you get much less for a lot more money - good food but seemed pricey for sure. The steak cooked on the stone was excellent - the sauces were great. I would recommend lunch if you want a bigger bang for your buck - parking can be a challenge.
For dinner, it was our daughter's birthday so they did a special ice cream plate for her and decorated the plate beautifully. Our server was excellent and very attentive.
We love sushi and We tried a lot of Japanese restaurant in Edmonton. That is for sure the best . .the quality of the meal and how fresh the fish is at all time . The presentation appetizing .. . And great service .
Then food was delicious, i had the waygu and chu torro, although the wayguis only a2 plus it was still amazing. The price is on the higher side but you get what you pay for. The service was better than your typical sushi restaurant ( which i have come to accept is usually terrible ) so it was nice
Great sushi!! My favourite in Edmonton. I wrote a prior review where I was charged for extra items by mistake. The manager called me soon after I wrote my initial review, and offered me two rolls for free the next time I come. This was in November 2018. I went back yesterday in June 2019, and I told them about what the manager had offered me 7 months ago. I was pleasantly surprised to say that actually kept a record of my name and they did indeed honour the 2 free rolls. I’ll defiantly go back again.
Best sushi! Service was excellent. Personal but not intrusive from start to finish. Nice ambiance. We shared chef sushi platter and the banana spring roll dessert was so good! Will definitely be back.
