This is a review more about the app. Joe's Fortes was excellent however when we got there they said reservation was for Thu even though we made the reservation for Wed. I think there was a mistake in the app because the open table email said reservation for thu but when I clicked on the link it said Wednesday. Please address the issues on the app.
Good food and service although for the price not stellar. Noisy in the upstairs seating. Overall good meal but not special.
We had a lovely evening, with great food, great drinks, and great service. I would recommend that anyone looking for a good meal in downtown Vancouver come to Joe Fortes. You won't be disappointed.
Best seafood in Vancouver and excellent service seafood platter recommended
Came here for dinner as a must for our steak and seafood while on vacation. The service was amazing and the place was just jumping! We luckily made a reservation - highly recommended; otherwise you'll be waiting awhile, but it's so worth it. Try to go during Happy Hour! The oysters were super cheap and the drinks were as well. The main dishes were to die for - Husband had the 3 course meal for a set price (main was Sirloin with mash and veggies) which he loved and I ordered the Cioppino - so much seafood! And super fresh - not the frozen garbage served at some restaurants! And the broth - wow. Tiramisu for dessert and it was as light as a pillow. So delicious, and perfectly layered with different flavours. I'd definitely go back here when visiting again, and would recommend to anyone.
Always enjoy it here, great food, drinks and atmosphere. Selection of seafood is always great.
This is one of the better restaurants in the city if you're looking for seafood of the highest quality. It's a top-end restaurant though there are many tourists and dress seemed rather casual for a high-end restaurant noise level high but the building is extraordinary and the service top notch. Dinner come serve with all the bells and whistles and you are tended to very well. I highly recommend Joe Fortes
Amazing for seafood lovers! Also excellent service!
Great food; busy restaurant though - tables tight together and was noisy making it difficult to talk.
Great evening and fabulous food.
We had originally intended to go for a full meal, but as we were going to have many huge meals over the next 7 days, decided to go for oysters and maybe a little good. The service was excellent. She knew her oysters and made great recommendations. We were very happy with the oyster selection, the only thing being the horseradish that came with them could have used a little tang. It was very bland. We ended up mixing a little hot sauce into it. After 2 dozen decided to finish with with the beef carpaccio and pasta. The carpaccio was excellent but with way too much arugula on it. The seafood pasta was delicious but the sauce much too thick. It could have used a little pasta water when it was prepared. Overall it was a good experience, but coloured by the fact that when you spend a lot of money, it is an expensive restaurant, you expect everything to be perfect. It wasn't quite that.
We didn’t just have dinner there, we had an experience! David, our waiter, provided us with excellent service. His ability to work several tables and to always manage to make eye contact and anticipate our needs was outstanding. He observed our pace and made sure each dish came at the right time. We visit every year and the service has always been great, but David did really showed that there’s another level above great. We loved our experience!
We had the Halibut special with watermelon salad and both were exquisite.
We sat at oyster bar and really enjoyed talking with Ilda! What and incredibly good man for the seafood bar = he is a master at shucking oysters! Ilda is also a great guy as we had a good time talking with him and he provided helpful suggestions for where we should go to experience the real Vancouver. You have a winner in Ilda.
Friendly and good suggestions for me. Delicious
Server and food were great! I have a lot of food allergies and the staff was very helpful and were to make me a meal I could eat and enjoy.
Greeters at the front door were not friendly at all especially the one who took us to our table. She didn’t so much as smile or say a word to us from the entrance to the table.
My partner and I came here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We chose a later reservation and made a special request to be seated outside as it was a special occasion. When we arrived, we were promptly seated at a terrible half-circle two seater table on the upper level. There wasn't much of a view of the restaurant which was a shame because it felt as though anywhere else you could be seated would have SOMETHING to look at. Additionally, through the entirety of our meal, restaurant workers were rushing frantically beside our table with large kitchen containers and shining silverware - really took away from the ambience of the restaurant and didn't even allow us to take advantage of our small table to share an intimate dinner.
I'm 9 months pregnant, so it was mocktails for us, but the drinks were the best part of the night. When our dinner came, my Chef's Creation was nice, but proved to be a hardly substantial serving and the plate was smeared with an utterly unpalatable sweet orange-coloured purée that truly ruined the more complex flavours on the plate. My partner ordered a $60 steak and couldn't even cut through it. He barely ate it, which is shocking because he is a big steak eater, and even asked to have it wrapped to go in fear of looking rude for not finishing it. Both moderately disappointed by dinner, we decided to give dessert a shot. He ordered the Tahitian vanilla creme brûlée and I had the tiramisu. I was especially looking forward to the tiramisu as t has been a dominant craving in my pregnancy. Thankfully the creme brûlée was lovely, but my tiramisu came packed with a hidden surprise - a long, blonde hair built into the cake. Needless to say, it totally ruined it for me. But like my partner, I felt bad making a big deal out of it and again asked for it to be packed to bring home.
Our server was alright. Professional, efficient. I felt bad that we didn't tip as much as we normally do, but it was honestly just the worst dinner experience.
Service and food is alway impeccable. Joe Fortes never disappoints.
Very nice! Our servant was excellent! We have perfect expirience ,,but fich , that we are try was a it hard!that we are expected!
Our service staff, Jennifer was friendly and great. It was not cheap but worthy. Good food and drinks made all of us happy.
Great meal as always. Loved the watermelon and tomato salad!!!
My fiancé made a reservation here for my birthday and I was very happy with the food and service. Server went above and beyond and I even got a slice of delicious cheesecake as well! Definitely come here if you want some great food and service, the restaurant itself is also lovely.
Joe Fortes is an iconic restaurant in Vancouver and has outstanding food, service and ambience. Unfortunately, my salad selection came overdressed however I should have requested light on the dressing. We had friends in town from Florida and they loved the Halibut. Our server was friendly, engaging and informative. We've been here many times and will continue to return.
Excellent patio. Always great food and service.
My lobster (of a giant platter for 2) was super chewy and tough. Wouldn't recommend that. Steak was OK. Oysters were really good though and the lobster oil!
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!!! We will certainly be back!
Our waitress Marcelo ( I hope I spelled it correctly) was fantastic. Very friendly and great service. She has served me before and always is a pleasure. Food was delicious, and the patio is always great. Always great food and service!
always great, highly recommend for a great dinner before or after a concert
Our server Andrew was fantastic !
Everything was excellent, except it was so uncomfortably hot and stuffy in the restaurant which kind of ruined the experience. It was cooler outside than inside. For the price point of their menu, air conditioning should be mandatory.
The restaurant was very warm, which ruined the experience. The halibut was over cooked. However, our server was outstanding
Oysters were excellent. Server was superb. Steaks were cooked properly but were lacking flavor. One of the potato sides was tasteless. Continual piano playing became annoying- there needed to be some breaks- just too much.
I rated service low because of my greeting by the host. I had reservations but arrived early to ensure my guest and I had a great seat on the upstairs patio. It was a hot day and I was told there were no shaded seats available. When I was brought upstairs there were two tables in the shade and "available". I asked to be seated in one of them but was told they were reserved. I was confused. In other words, someone had "better" reservation than I did. When I asked about my reservation strength I was then told the tables were reserved for the owner. I found it very interesting that the owner would rather have an unhappy guest than support a repeat customer. Terrible customer service. I must add, my server was fantastic (Brandon I believe)
Was very good. Only complaint was the restaurant was quite hot ( lower floor table)
Great patio and excellent service. Thanks!
Fabulous place. Highly recommend.
Was recommended this restaurant and was not disappointed. Would definitely return!
It was an unusually hot day in Vancouver and the dining room was uncomfortably warm. People
were using menus to fan themselves at most tables. Our server was excellent. Friendly and efficient with good recommendations. The Arctic char was very good as well as the Brussels sprouts. The steak was average. The cocktails were very good. Overall it was worth the trip.
Great place for brunch, amazing food and our server Tim was awesome! The staff are friendly and very courteous.
