Excellent service, food spot on and able to talk around the table. Would go again!
Amazing amazing amazing !
We heard about Joe’s through our daughter, without a doubt Joe’s is a great place for everyone. Staff is very friendly and on top of all aspects of service. Thank you and next time we will bring friends and stay longer. Cheers Moe
Great meal. Went for brunch unplanned and had great food. Recommend the winter hash. Also ordered salmon and prawn pave dish that was excellent. Service was very good. Attentive and prompt. Was a bit noisier than I like but it was very busy. Overall excellent. Highly recommended.
My family and friends had such a lovely time
Celebrating my daughters 19th birthday today. Everyone commented on how exceptional the food was and that the atmosphere was fun yet relaxing. The best part was the service we received, great care was taken with our orders and everyone enjoyed themselves enormously. Thanks
The restaurant service was excellent and the food was very good. However, it was extremely busy. We ended up on the second floor at a half table, that was too small for the plates.
Love the ambiance, Christmas decorations and the piano player. Always our first choice for our anniversary.
I love Joe Forte’s and I try to visit on every trip. The lobster oil is amazing.
We used to be regular customers at your restaurant a few years ago and decided to go for a meal there as we have not been for quite some time, did not think much of the food especially for the price, also thought the waiter was rude, I ordered my food and asked for a glass of chardonnay he showed me the wine selection veering towards the most expensive one and I told him I just wanted a glass of house wine to which he replied "so you want the cheap one?" in front of other patrons. I don't think that spending almost $300 for the meal which included 1 glass of wine and 1 caesar drink would be considered cheap. I would never have given him a tip (maybe a tip in customer service would have been better) but my husband paid the bill and I didn't see it until we left. Not too happy!!!
Amazing first time experience , will visit again, the timing in between dishes was perfect
It’s always enjoyable eating in Joe Fortes, food always above standards and usually service is good. I’ve been skip providing feed back many times after eating in this restaurant as I kind of eating in Joe Fortes quite often. Today, I decided do it again for the dessert I had, I have to say that the cookies came with dessert was very delicious. Again, thumb up.
Excellent as always! A bit louder this year and would love some gluten-free bread options.
Visiting Van for the weekend. Make a reservation- place was busy. Waiters all in white coats. Enjoyed the west coast platter -bit pricey but it was enjoyed. I would go back again next time in town.
Everything was excellent!
Too loud. Good oysters. The cod was good but the vegetables not right. Wines are charged too much.
We try to get to Joe’s every couple of years and our experience is always consistent and first class.
Get the Dotty's salad, fantastic as well as the oysters.
That day the restaurant was short of my favourite Kumamoto oysters, but had others equally good.
So, no big deal.
Joe Fortes is one of my favorite go-to spots, the servers, food and atmosphere is always great. I figured it would be a great place to take out-of-town visitors to and have a good meal. However, the food this particular time was quite lacking. Our server was great and very accommodating, we ordered quite a few things including clam chowder and mussels to start, a seafood tower, a 32 oz porterhouse steak cooked medium rare with 2 lobster tails added on. The server told us they might be out of the porterhouse so I told him that if they're out, we can do the 26 oz bone-in rib steak instead, quite understandable since it was 8pm. He then told us they were out of mussels and asked us if we wanted to change our mussels to clams instead, which we agreed.
The clam chowder was quite bland, different from what we had before. The seafood tower wasn't really a seafood tower, you can tell that they ran out of a few things and just added what they had at that time. They even added the 2 lobster tails on the seafood tower to make it look bigger, there were no oysters and of course no mussels, however they did substitute it with clams. The crab and clams were pretty good. The seafood tower lobster and the 2 lobster tails was rubbery and tough, not what we usually expect from Joe Fortes. The porterhouse was cooked to medium well, the centre wasn't pink at all and it was pretty tough to chew on.
I left quite disappointed with the food considering I highly recommended the place to the out-of-town visitors and how much I paid for the meal, the bill came considering I paid over $700 including tip. It could just be just an isolated incident since I've had many great experiences here and I will come back but maybe a little bit more specific about the quality of food I expect.
Was visiting friends in Victoria from Scotland Nov 21-Dec3. On a day trip to Vancouver Nov 26 this wonderful place was recommended by the Shangri-La Hotel, lucky for us ending up at this gem. Outstanding! Superb food, service and ambiance.., it blew us away!! My friend will be coming back over from Victoria with her husband to sample the delights of Joe Fortes again.
We come once a year from Washington State. We love everything about it, i.e. food, service, friendly waiters. Way too noisy1 Makes talking difficult, no matter where you are at in the restaurant. Not that we have gotten used to the noise, but we know to expect it. Still, we enjoy coming there each year. Taku, our waiter, was really friendly and accommodating.
Your Restaurant is beautifully decorated for the Holidays. The food was great, the service was excellent! All in all, a wonderful lunch experience! Thank you so much!
Too crowded not happy with table selection even after making a reservation
Delicious brunch with great atmosphere and service!
I have eaten at this restaurant before and know that they can do better than the meal we had.
We shared a starter of calamari, which was lightly battered and delicious. Unfortunately, the main courses did not match the tastiness of the starter. I ordered the New Your steak, which was somewhat chewy and not tasty (although it was pink in the middle so done to perfection). My wife ordered the Steelhead trout, which was also bland in flavour.
Maybe it was the Black Friday crowds, but the meal was short of the usual standards for this restaurant.
Very nice evening. Good food, great ambience and service. Thank you.
The food was off compared to normal. Usually better than this time.
Always good foods my favorite restaurant
Weekdays has a great blue plate special that is amazing value for the great ambiance and service.
Only criticism is that we had reservations and when we arrived on time still had to wait almost 15 minuets
Great value on bluebplare special
Joe Fortes continues to deliver exceptional service, food and freshness. The lunch blue plate specials are terrific and offer fabulous value.
Rather big place, but divided into different areas and levels so it feels smaller. Elegant and busy surroundings. Good food. Big winelist.
Food and service was prompt. Seafood pot pie from blue plate was great!
Great server, excellent food
Not the experience we expected. Overhyped and underwhelmed. I’d pass on this one. Meat selections were not the best cut and not cooked to preference. Sides were just not tasty and lousy temperature. No return for us.
Our friends brunch out at Joe Fortes was my first time at this restaurant. I picked it because of the brunch menu. The food was delicious. Fairly expensive - but that’s what you get when you order lobster eggs benny! There were many things on the menu I wanted to try so despite the higher price I would definitely go back. The restaurant is noisy but has a great vibe with the live piano in the back ground. They have jammed a ton of tables in - so be prepared to be very close to the next party and to get bumped a lot as people move around. The main negative was the service. Our waiter was very slow in taking our order, did not refill our coffee even though he acknowledge it and said he would. It took forever to get our bill and to then pay by card. The bus person was very good at filling out water and clearing away our dishes. We will go back again. Hopefully we will have a more attentive server.
We love the atmosphere, professional attentive service, and, above all, the excellent food.
