Mirela was fantastic
great venue; great meal; loved it - first time in vancouver and will be back if come back to the city
My husband and I went to Joe Fortes for having lunch, since the tourist guide in the Hop On Hop Off recommended it. Food was delicious, although we think the ambiance is for older people (we are in our low 30s). Regarding price, we found it expensive; we paid 90usd for 2 people, without alcohol. Overall, this place is a good choice for having a nice meal!
Worse steak I’ve had in years. The oyster Rockefeller were old and under cooked. Reserved a table only to be seated next to the waiter station. Not so bad, right? The staff slamming water jugs above ended in my wife’s back being soaked from one of the water jugs stationed right above us. Save your money and go anywhere else. 25 year anniversary meal a total fail.
Awesome food and service. When I arrived, they greeted me by my name. I had a table but chose to sit at the bar as I was dining alone. The bartender who waited on me recommended a sampler dish as I wanted crab and they had ran out of earlier in the evening. The recommended dish definitely went beyond my expectations! He also recommended a drink that was outstanding and I wish I had a recipe for! Cam was an outstanding Bartender / Server... very attentive to all customers.
Side note - There was a pianist playing beautifully when I got there and then later in the evening, great 90’s type music was played through the sound system. Very nice touch.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant but be sure to make reservations at least a day ahead of time.
We had the Seafood Linguine which was very rich but delicious. It had 2 prawns and I believe at least 8 scallops, the big ones, not swimming scallops. It was a bit expensive for what we received. Service was excellent. Wine was fine. Dessert was huge, chocolate cake Joe Fortes special
good restaurant !
and been out there 2 x nights in a row for dinner
1 x night food was presented well and on hot plates so perfect !
also waiters attention was good, enthousiast and correct waiter
2nd time, the food (fish) was not hot and plates were actually already cooled down !!
(so before we could finish the dish it was cold)
waiter did his job, but not more than that
do not misunderstand he did the job, but nothing more than that and it was obvious that he was "fedup" servicing customers
and good wining and dining includes not only the food and drinks, but is it a total picture of food-drinks- ambiance and not at least the attitude of the waiter !!
excellent in every respect. our server was particularly good and made our dinner thoroughly enjoyable.
I enjoyed our dinner experience at Joe Fortes - we were on the third level and I found it quite noisy, but I'm not sure how that could be addressed. The desserts were amazing!
Went for Sunday early evening dinner. Great place to people watch in a rambunctious, busy restaurant with efficient waiters. Ordered the sablefish dish and my spouse had the porkchop; great value and both dishes delicious. Had a view of the oyster bar and the pianist was just upstairs from us. Altogether a celebratory and fun experience. I had forgotten that I told them we were celebrating our anniversary, but the restaurant did not forget! They comped us 50% of a yummy crème brulee dessert with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate.
Food and service were excellent. We loved our seafood dish! The downside is that it is very noisy and the seating is very close together, however we would return because the food was so delicious.
The seafood was absolutely divine! We loved the piano as ambience, too, because we could chat and be heard, as well as appreciating all the familiar tunes. Highly recommend this dining table!
Have always enjoyed dining at Joe's! A fun place, the food was excellent the service amazing and love the piano player!
Great table. Creative and friendly waiter who recommended excellent food items. Food was plentiful and delicious. We are repeat customers. Entire staff helpful.
Our waitor was amazing!! He actually made our experience perfect!
Great atmosphere, like an old established steak chop house should be. Happy hour prices were a good value. We loved everything especially the creme brulee. The only negative was the shrimp tempura because it was loaded in grease. The Seafood tower was popular and looked yummy. All in all I'd go back.
The food was delicious the service for food was slow. The waiter was excellent
From the cheery welcome through to the fond farewell, we could not fault the service and the food here. We were cosseted and cared for, advised and directed to our choices which were beautifully presented and tasted even better.
I wholeheartedly recommend Joe Fortes to anyone wanting good food in a really warm atmosphere and, if you get Paul playing on the piano, you’re in for a real treat
Very very good service, oysters and clams outstanding
Good wine selection
The terrace it’s good although stairs not easy specially for little kids
Loved it. But not for people who don’t like a noisey restaurant.
Great quality food, but service was off the mark this time.
Believe it was just a “one off”, does not change my high opinion of the restaurant and staff.
Traveling with friends & staying at hotel near-by... so TA recommended & it looked like fun! Oysters were fabulous as were seafood specials. However waiter seemed very busy... forgot to bring bread (he asked if we wanted.. we said yes..). I ordered another plate of oysters (appetizer)... but they did not appear before our main courses arrived. Kudos to him however... he comped them. Yes it is very noisy & not a place to “ visit” but we enjoyed the evening. Loved the history .
It’s been a couple years since last time I was here. I’m happy to say that this place still holds a high standard of dining experience. Still remains my go to place for great seafood.
Joe Forte never disappoints. Always the first restaurant I go to for special occasion and always superb food and service.
Amazing space, breathing atmosphere. Huge menu , difficult to decide what you want :)
Would certainly recommend it to friends for the food and the ambience but not the service, which is ok but not great.
Dee was an awesome server. Rooftop on a Friday night is great people watching spot.
Meeting an old friend
We loved the whole experience. We had a booth and fabulous waiter David who had been at Joe Fortes for 16 years. The fish was delicious and we were made to feel so special. We had travelled from Australia celebrating anniversaries & were surprised with dessert. Highly recommend Joe Fortes.
Great meal with a friend the other evening. We shared a seafood platter. Everything was, fresh and well prepared. The only thing I didn’t love was the oyster Rockefeller, but I am not a big fan of oysters. I would have preferred it cooked. I would definitely recommend this Vancouver institution for the quality of food and the excellent service.
With a great menu to choose from it was hard to make a decision. We were fortunate to sit in Vincent’s section who was a fantastic server. Add Wade to the service combination and you have a recipe for a great evening. In addition to the exceptional service the food was great! No other words than “go make a reservation!”
We had a friend visiting Vancouver from England. She said she would like to try our seafood here so I decided to bring her to one of my favorite seafood restaurant Joe Fortes.
She was really impressed with the quality of food especially the seafood tower that we ordered. The Sawmill Bay Oysters that our server Melissa recommended was really good and it was huge too!!
The clam chowder was really good too and the calamari is the best calamari that I had every had in a seafood restaurant in Vancouver.
Would definitely recommend them to anyone if you want some good quality seafood..! their service was really great too.
I had also tried their happy hour and I personally think they have the best food for the happy hour in Vancouver!
We waited over 40 minutes between the salad and the entree. Steak arrived warm, not hot. 3rd time here and think it’s time to find a new steakhouse in Vancouver.
Wonderful atmosphere, superior customer service (Jennifer was fantastic), generous food portions and delicious. Love coming here!
My dad and I came to BC for a father-daughter trip and as big foodies, Joe Fortes was the highlight of the trip! I can’t even write in a review how amazing the trio special was, and my dad could say the same about his Halibut Cheeks. The overall ambience of the restaurant is amazing and everyone should go once if they’re ever in the city - just make sure to have a reservation!
The seafood tray was good, except for the lobster which was dry and tough.
Always good - brunch on the patio. Other than a loud talker at the next table it was lovely.
Outstanding one of the best dinning experiences I have had. Best Rib steak I have been every served.
Vincent was an excellent host. Food selection and portions were great. A little noisy for an intimate dinner but overall a great experience
Good food. Loved the patio.
