The restaurant was great. The hostess not so much, she was not friendly or welcoming. Our waiter on the other hand was super nice and very helpful. Our food came out hot and very tasty. The view was exceptional. The prices were a tad on the high side, but would recommend it for a special occasion.
Excellent food! The lobster was awesome. Everything was awesome!!
Food lacked flavor, we were seated next to a party of 20 it was loud and disruptive server was not informative she asked us what kind of salad or soup we wanted with our meal as if it came with the meal. Which it do not and we wouldn’t have gotten them had she not made it seem that way
Ambience, service and food were generally good. However, my first bite of the entree yielded a long human hair. While my meal was quickly replaced with a second dish and apologies were offered, I was surprised not to be offered at least a complimentary drink. No accommodation at all was offered as apology. My companion and I were both quite surprised by this.
Impeccable service, opulent desserts, first class meal experience all the way around.
Outstanding service and good!
Both Ceviche and Shrimp Ilene was very bland
Our server was pleasant, however forgot to bring our soup before main course. Recovered nicely though by bringing the soup to “taste” at no charge. Overall the staff was very attentive and on time. Table side Spanish coffee was outstanding. We prefer our crab legs steamed. Had a good experience but didn’t leave wanting to return in the near future.
Great place to dine before a concert. Ultimate convenience with Ren Center location - eat, jump on the People Mover, and get to the Fox on time.
Amazing service, great food, very attentive waiter
We enjoyed great food and Eddie our server was perfect. We even shared our bread basket with him, JK. If he sees this he’ll understand
Food was great, portions generous and the service very good. Overall, a wonderful evening and dining experience
The food was a little over-rated. Ambiance and view were of course, very nice and well-worth the drive if you're coming out from the suburbs. We went for lunch, so perhaps the dinner menu is better, but the Ceviche had absolutely no flavor...very bland. The waitress was very nice and attentive, but couldn't answer all the questions we had about the menu (not a big deal for us). Nice place for client meetings or a happy hour/first date. Other than that, wouldn't go out of my way to go there again - I've had better seafood at more affordable restaurants.
Slow bar service. Took a long time to get drinks to the table once ordered. Food was outstanding
Our waiter, Timothy was very good, the food was delicious and we enjoyed listening to the piano player.
I was taking my girlfriend on a date to your restaurant for her birthday. We were looking forward to the experience because neither one of us had been to Joe Muers in the Renaissance Center. Unfortunately, we did not have a good dining experience at all. We first asked the waiter for 2 Caesar Salads, when we ordered them we did not know they weren't on the menu. So the waiter proceeded to provide the 2 salads which included some shredded lettuce, a few croutons, and some parmesan cheese (salad dressing on the side). The salads looked skimpy and just thrown together. We then asked the waiter about the salads because they did not look appetizing and he said they weren't on the menu and that the chef just put a salad together.
We then proceeded to order our main course in which I had salmon and rice pilaf and my girlfriend had calamari and french fries. The rice pilaf was horrible. It was hard and not very good. I was totally embarrassed and upset with the dinner at Joe Muers because I wanted the experience to be a special evening for my girlfriend's birthday.
My bill came to $175 and some change and I gave a 15% tip to the waiter which came to a total of $201 and some change. I am really unhappy with my dining experience at Joe Muers Restaurant.
Excellent food, service and view
We always love Joe Muer restaurant. An old-time Detroit staple, now in its stunning waterfront location in downtown Detroit's Renaissance Center. This time we got wild-caught South African lobster tail and wild-caught brook trout. The crab balls appetizer was excellent as always, as was the immense and tasty coconut cake for dessert. Their wine list has a nice variety, although my wife thinks it could have a larger number of Chardonnays. We will be back on the next special occasion, or even sooner!
Our dinner was March 31, 2018.
The service was exceptional, the place setting was superior. Food was delicious, started with our app favorite from the old place, deviled crab balls. Tried new entrees cooked just right, presentation pleasing. And dessert, too much to finish. Her's coconut and mine chocolate.
It was good to see and talk to Miguel, a familiar face from a previous life. He still remembers.
Valet parking easy and quick, don't forget to get your parking slip validated at Joe's desk.
Thank you for a great experience.
Food was amazing and we enjoyed our time. We requested a table by the window to see the water but instead we got a table by the window facing a parking structure.
Have been patrons for 40+ years. This restaurant just never gets old...just better...like fine wine!
We have dined here for special occasions, lunches and just because we like it.
We highly recommend this restaurant!!
Food was very delicious and cheesecake with Carmel was very tasty. Service in front when coming in could have been better but the hostess was nice. Our waitress was nice but her service was not too great. Waited long for requests forgot to bring things was not crowded so not sure what was the issue. Overall the food was good would come back.
The coconut cake is excellent - the service is great and the steak was just perfect... they made my husband's birthday special.
I took my love here for her birthday. She was happy that we came. I am going to bring her to this place again. The service and food were stellar.
We celebrated my sons Birthday and this was our first time at JOE MUER and will definitely be returning. The service, food and scenery was excellent. Thanks for making his birthday a special one.
Great experience overall! Will return
Our server CJ was amazing.
The wait staff was well trained and very professional. The food presentation was outstanding.
It was a great dinner event.
The food, service and setting were all incredible. Possibly Detroit's best restaurant. Would highly recommend to anybody looking to go.
Very good food quality, but not quite excellent. Our get together was enjoyable and our server Timothy was informative and friendly without being intrusive. Our table near a busing station was not the best, especially with multiple staff standing there and talking. But otherwise we had a great time.
Barramundi stuffed with Lobster & Crab was absolutely delicious. From their sushi to oysters to sides were all amazing. No wonder they always win Seafood Restaurant of the Year!
Always a great choice for dinner, Joe Muer's is a must whenever I am in Detroit -- and it's so convenient when we stay in the Ren Cen Marriott. Wonderful food and service -- a true jewel in Detroit's crown.
We had a great dinner celebrating our engagement.
Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Our server was very attentive and helpful.
The food was good. The atmosphere was very stuck up and our server was horrendous. He only came to our table to take our order and to deliver our food. The hostess was also rude. Also, with such an extensive dress code...why did I see every other person in there wearing a sweatshirt? Wasn’t worth $200 to me.
Great food, good service, terrific view, big prices
Amazing service and food, definitely will be back!
The food was extraordinary. The server was annoying and spoke with an uncalled for formality and “hauteur.”
Piano was too loud and intrusive in a room with live acoustic.
However my dinner was sublime tasting.
Service was fantastic and food was delicious!
Our Server, CJ was outstanding! He was patient, courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. He truly made the dining experience special and memorable. The presentation and food was delicious. Amazing!!
