Stone Crab

Fresh stone crabs are found in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. They are hand harvested, one claw at a time, and thrown back to the sea. Joe Weiss, and his wife Jennie, discovered this unknown delicacy in the early 1920s, and soon after, began serving them at their restaurant in Miami Beach. Service was poor. They seemed more interested in clearing the table, than letting us eat our food. Ordered 2nd bottle of wine, never came. Took wine glasses away 1/3 through meal. Thought would bring fresh glasses with 2nd bottle of wine, never came. Drank water with meal. Service poor, food mediocre. Experience definitely not like Joes DC. Better food, experiences elsewhere in LV.

03/12/23 - We arrived at 5pm (an hour before our scheduled reservation). The male host at the front recommended we walk into the restaurant and ask the maitre d if he had availability to seat us in the main dining room. Needles to say, he did not. Comment: the maitre d' with white/silver hair is RUDE. He needs training on how to treat customers. Also, the main dining room was empty! We left and returned at our scheduled reservation time and were seated in the patio. Our waiter Eddie G was outstanding! We couldn't have asked for better service! The food was good, not outstanding. Wine and cosmopolitan were delicious.

We had the stone crab. It was $90 which I absolutely don’t mind paying for if it’s good. For one it came with nothing but crab…for $90 throw some broccoli and fries on the plate. Plus they crab was ice cold. It was so hard to get the meat out as the shell kept crumbling. Every bite we had had shell in it. Very disappointing and not worth our $250 bill.

By far, the service is truly Exceptional! We know and love the menu at Joe’s. It is the top-notch service that sets this restaurant apart from so many others. Our server, Tricia, was the Best, anticipating our requests and ensuring that we will remember our wonderful luncheon at Joe’s with fond memories. We were looking forward to our meals as we love the Joe’s in DC. It seemed like we ate at a different restaurant altogether. The portion and taste of the lobster Mac and cheese was disappointing. We won’t go back to Joe’s in Vegas!
