It was unfortunate. We made the reservations weeks ago for my birthday. We’ve been here before, and although the service can be a little spotty, we’ve always enjoyed it. We were very excited to go to dinner last night. Got there early had a drink at the bar and were seated at our table. We had a team of two servers who were going to take care of us. To summarize, no napkins on the table, no salt or pepper on the table. No one came back to ask us if we wanted a drink, nobody came to refill our water even after dropping off food. We had to ask for each one of those items separately. We did get our appetizer of mussels, which were tasty, but the size of the mussels was minuscule. We did get our Caesar salad. The server brought it and saidshe would just put it in middle of the table and she said something about sharing and we had to ask for clean side plates. We believe they forgot to put our dinners in since everyone around us got served, four tables who came in after us, before we did. By the time we got our food, it was cold and the chicken marsala was terrible. The chicken tasted burnt. There was almost no sauce on the linguine, it looked anemic, and there were about five mushroom slices in it. My husband’s dinner was cold and uninspired. The chicken was cold and the carrots and potatoes were slightly warm. We’ve never done this before, but we both sent our dinners back and at that point we felt we had been in a hostage situation and just really wanted to go. To their credit, they tried to make it right, but you already had us there. Why not make it right from the beginning? There were no smiles from the wait staff , no thank you no offering anything really - it’s like we were invisible. The evening started off with them giving me a birthday card which made the ending even worse as they knew it was a special occasion.

The Sunday brunch was pretty ordinary…nothing outstanding or special. Many items were cold.

All food was warm, except for the potatoes. Corn bread was excellent, but butter provided was salted. We are salt sensitive. Nothing else was salty. We would come back.

Lovely restaurant. Beautiful ambience in each of several rooms, excellent attentive service, oysters are consistently the BEST. Wonderful upscale dining.

We used to love it here the food always amazing tonight it was so far under par I can't believe it. The potatoes were absolutely instant the vegetables raw and the swordfish'special' was far from a fresh fish. It was so disappointing I can't believe it's the same place as the last 3 times eating there. We visit from CT and sadly have to Find a new place to eat before a play. What happened???!!

Table of 4 at 730pm we ordered appetisers !before we had finished the waiter whom appeared to be in a big hurry to finish up arrived with the main course . We asked him to hold off as we had not finished our starters! He then left the food on a side table!!we complained about this as the food would get cold . He became very annoyed and immediately called his supervisor!! Who arrived all apologetic!! It was an expensive restaurant and we were made to feel uncomfortable by this particular waiter..whom continued service with a very bad attitude!!

We are a group of friends who have been going to Jonathan’s once/year for many years. On this visit we found the food quality to be not nearly as good as it has been in years past while the prices of course have gone up.
