Casual
Entrepreneurial restaurateur Stephen Starr, owner of Philadelphia's eight most trend-setting restaurants, continues to stimulate the revival of a historic block of Chestnut Street by introducing Jones, a casual comfort-food restaurant and lounge at 700 Chestnut Street. Jones, with its laid-back atmosphere, affordable fare and late-night scene adds a new element to the mix, recreating a nightlife ambiance reminiscent of Starr's Continental Martini Bar and Restaurant, a retro cocktail lounge that helped turn Old City into Philadelphia's most popular neighborhood for a night on the town. Starr hopes Jones will do for Chestnut Street what the Continental did for Old City.

It was such a great time and vibe. We sat right next to the fireplace and had an amazing waitress named Mia I believe. The food and drink recommendations were on point and we literally had no complaints.

Meatloaf is fabulous, add deviled eggs and a strawberry milkshake, as good as it gets.

It started off badly given the worst 2 tables in the place... the host said he would give us the better of the two.... food was salty and pot pie was 19$ 3 bites of turkey and just some veggies . Tried it for the first time in years now I remember why it had been a while!

We had a reservation so we were seated quickly. The food was very salty which is not what I prefer but it was an enjoyable experience. The menu was very limited.

We sat upstairs. Very poor service. No utensils. Asked for them then had to get from a nearby table.l because they were never brought to us. Not accommodating with children. Not a good experience. Especially for a holiday meal.

I made reservations for thanksgiving lunch a few weeks ago, but when we arrived, they tried to sit us in the worst table in the room right by the door where it's cold and people waiting stare at you, but we asked for a different table, then everything was perfect.

We had a great time - the turkey plate and meatloaf were fantastic. It felt like we were eating thanksgiving at my grandmother's house - the decor and the atmosphere were great. Our server was an absolute gem and never lost her cool when the table across from us were literally snapping their fingers at her.

The chocolate cake with a glass of milk was hilarious and amazing. We loved it!

The manager stopped by to check on us and we were sure to tell her how lovely our server was :)

We were sat upstairs, it was freezing in there, everyone was complaining, they fixed the issue though.
Service was slow, maybe because we were upstairs.
But the waitress was not very attentive but she was nice.
She got the cocktail order wrong and forgot part of my entree. Both were fixed. But we had to wait around for refills, ketchup salt and pepper.
The manager was upstairs at least 5 times. Went to other tables to see how things were. One was right across from ours, one was right in front of ours. Never came to our table. Maybe he didn’t like 2 guys dining together. Kind of upsetting.
The food was good had no issues other then forgetting some things.

I hadn't been to Jones in almost 9 years but had some great memories and was looking forward to returning with some friends and their children, knowing that it was a pretty kid friendly place. Our greeting at the door was warm and personal and set a nice tone for the evening. Our server was pleasant as well although once we got our food she didn't return to the table until it was time to clear it. The biggest disappointment was the food. Our appetizer was great and our entrees had potential except that everything was very heavily laden with salt. If it was just one dish that is a simple mistake but all of the entrees were SO salty. I usually don't mind but it was so much so that none of us finished our meals and one of my friends had wanted to ask for something different but our server never checked in with us. We saw her whiz by us several times but were not able to catch her. Even when she did finally return she didn't ask how everything was, just whether she could box everything up for us (not wondering why there was so much food left on the table). I don't usually leave reviews like this but I feel like the issues we had are easily fixable ones so I hope this comes as constructive criticism I probably will not be returning and wouldn't recommend to others but the kids did have a good time.

Jones never disappoints. The food is always good, and the bonus for Walnut Street Theatre subscribers is the complimentary piece of chocolate cake with the accompanying glass of milk.

I used to love this place. Went back with a friend for a pre-theater dinner. The food was AWFUL. I am talking college cafeteria quality on my brisket dinner: mushy, oversalted, chewy, small portion. My friend got the chicken cutlet, which seemed a bit better, but not by much. This place is supposed to be dinner like mom made-- now it's more like lunch lady leftovers. And the service, though friendly, was spotty. We waited a full 20 minutes after finishing our meal before we could find our server to get our check. And it wasn't even crowded that night. Such a disappointment.

Absolutely terrible service. The server was MIA. She finally came over when we were finished but never brought the jelly that was requested. The food was good but nothing special. Disappointing for a Stephen Starr restaurant.

This is a cool place to experience but somewhat hard to describe.

The food is self styled down home and solid and reasonably diverse within that niche.
Yet also very now with a good variety of cocktails. The atmosphere is pleasantly energetic
and the service is very good.

Definitely recommend it. In many ways it is like other places but in other ways it is unique.

Been here a million times and the service just keeps getting worse. After this last time we are done.

Made a reservation and were seated on time but hen ignored for nearly fifteen minutes. We asked one of the hostesses (multiple hosts/hostesses and not enough servers) and she brought the manager over who apologized and took our drink order. Another ten minutes passes. Nothing. Another five. Finally the drinks arrive. We ask if the manager is now our server because no one has come over to us. At all. He says ok. We order and the food takes a long time. It’s delicious. We are fast eaters. This entire endeavor took 2.25 hours. It should have taken maybe an hour. We almost got a ticket. Ridiculous. Jones is good but it’s not that good and it’s definitely not good enough to return after this experience.

Food was good, however the service had a lot to be desired. The place was very busy, however the restaurant was not prepared for this since it looked like they only had about 3-4 servers on. We had to track down our server to get the bill and our order was actually taken by a manager. They did have three people hosting, which made not sense since they could have used them to serve. I will go give Jones another chance, just hoping this time they have enough staff scheduled.

We found our food very salty. Not a fabulous dining experience. Ordered my steak medium rare bordering on rare, close to rare, came out medium, hardly any pink. Basket of fried chicken was overly fried and very dry.
Service was very slow, Friday, 6:00 pm., had a reservation. Food delivered to table at 6:45.

Please share with the kitchen.

Go somewhere else! Very poor and that is so sad. This used to be very good. Service is incredibly slow and food is average. Another great restaurant ruined by greed. The owners take their eye off the ball and get real comfy making money. Then service, quality, food, and employees all start to slip and they are soon out of business. Shame on them.

Family of 5 adults enjoyed brunch. Food was good, ambiance was better. I had avacado toast, which seemed somewhat plain, same with another's grits. Monkey bread was ok. Others seemed okay with their meals.

The staff was very polite and accommodating. Our waitress was friendly and all of our dishes came out in great time. Everyone at the table loved the monkey bread we ordered to share and I cannot recommend teh brisket sandwich enough for brunch. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had.

Great spot for brunch! The wait staff was very helpful, especially considering we had two people in our party with serious food allergies (egg and gluten). The portions were fairly large (in a good way!) - I had the matzoh ball soup which was fantastic with the heirloom tomato BLT. The BLT had too much mayo for my liking, but besides that, it was pretty good. My fiance had the protein plate--can't go wrong with a plate of meats. The build your own bloody mary is always fun and tots as a side are a must.
