Visited for brunch and they have an excellent menu with lots of classic choices but with an Albertan twist. Great mountain views from the bistro.
Great food great views. Returning customer and will always be back
Were local to Banff and this is a favorite. Highly recommend!
Amazing brunch, flavorful food, great service and the best views of Banff
The salads where very under dressed. The portions where miniature for the price.
We were quite disappointed at our dinner at Juniper Hotel, having read about it on the Banff parks website as a top place to eat good food (not so much) with a great view (very true). The views are indeed sweeping and lovely although we opted to eat indoors in the cooler weather. The food itself was simply disappointing. They told us they ran out of the compressed watermelon salad after we waited quite a bit for it, so that was a bummer. Instead we choose the black bean soup, which was watery and flavorless. I had the roasted chicken breast which was dry and tasted of low-quality meat: not succulent and tender like well-raised poultry. It was always drenched in a much too salty jus and the polenta cake was like eating a styrofoam block. My daughter got the salmon dish - which we found underwhelming - over some pomme frites that were also (in theme with much the rest of our dinner): dry.
The staff was lovey and accommodating but by far this was the most disappointing meal on our two week stay at Banff.
We came here for dinner with our two sisters from Montreal. The ambience was non existent, the restaurant is in need of a good clean, paint or something to update it. We had two chicken dinners, one steak and a burger. All were good however our sister (the chef) said there was no seasoning on her steak, we tried a bite and yup needed something on it. Such a shame as it seems to have gone down hill since we were last here in 2017.
Beautiful view, great service and food has a delicious taste! I'd love to go back soon but I'm already back home! ;)
Just commenting on our last two visits. Maybe it’s COVID related, but Service here is sliding; food is good but it used to be fantastic. Given the focused menu, everything should be phenomenal. I had steak frites and it was flat tasting. Dessert was out of this world though.
The food was great and the service was exemplary considering the shortage of workers in Banff. The view is worth the visit alone. As a local I like to pop in here with guests to wow and amaze as a super host. You will never be disappointed.
Good food. Service was friendly but slow. Beautiful scenery.
Excellent food. We had booked for breakfast for one day only, but ended up going to Juniper Bistro again for breakfast and dinner. I had loaded French toast for breakfast for both days and it was such a satisfying dish. We had Cauliflower soup, Salmon and Juniper burger for dinner and both of them were fantastic and very flavorful.
To top up the food, the view from both inside and the patio is amazing! I would definitely recommend Juniper Bistro!
Fabulous dinner—-the best meal we’ve had in the Banff/Lake Louise area, and we’re NYC foodies. Highlights were the chicken, salmon and marrow appetizer. Lovely spot with an amazing view of the Banff area mountains. A must go—we’ll definitely come back!
Our very personable waiter and the food made this hotel restaurant memorable. We booked again.
Beautiful views of the mountains! Excellent food and service!
This restaurant features some of the most amazing views in Banff, it felt like being inside a postcard. The food is very good, with creative presentation and a variety of choices. Service was friendly, but not very professional.. something for Juniper to work on.
Great outdoor patio. One of the best. Thanks !
It’s a must visit breakfast spot In Banff!! Everything in the menu is great!
The food and service were exceptional. We had patio seating and that was beautiful.
One of the nicest views in Banff, but…I’m probably not going back for dinner. Food was ok, but not great. Service was friendly, but unprofessional. Kitchen was slow. Everything could have and should have been better. All in all, a disappointment. If I do return, it will be for brunch only — not dinner.
I've always hated it when a restaurant puts more value on what you pay for the view instead of what the food would taste like, but this is NOT the case for Juniper Bistro.
The Rabbit Benny I had was good - the rabbit meat was dry but the chef compensated it with the hollandaise sauce added with a juniper berry twist! That was ingenious. And the breading under the rabbit wasn't any regular English muffin, no. It was something else that tasted as if it had an undercooked, mochi-ish texture in the middle while remaining crispy outside.
I'd love to stay in this hotel next time to partake of the spectacular views and meals all the time!
We booked this restaurant in hopes that it would be a lovely day & we could sit out on their balcony to enjoy the view. Unfortunately it was raining, but the indoor space of the restaurant also had a great atmosphere. We heard them say they were short staffed, but that did not seem to impact our service. Our waitress did a great job & food was served in a timely manner. I think my main complaint was the food itself. We had some great food, but not always what we ordered. My appetizer was a tomato salad with arugula, but was served with spinach instead. And I ordered the steak & frites with broccolini, but they served it with one piece of broccolini & a bunch of green beans, which is just not the same thing. I understand that items run out, but the annoying part is they did not tell us about this ahead of time & just made substitutes. Also the vegetables on all our plates were not cooked at all. I love al dante, but you could barely cut the vegetables & I know I’m not the only one to comment on this in the reviews. Hopefully this will be taken into consideration for future guests. Otherwise, my steak & frites were delicious & my husband enjoyed his salmon!
I had to opportunity to celebrate my birthday at Juniper with the amazing brunch they had to offer. With stunning views of the mountains from right where you’re seated , the food equally compliments the ambience. A must visit place for brunch !
Juniper is the only restaurant on the other side of the Trans-Canada highway, so their dining room gets to overlook the town of Banff and the Fairmont as well. They have a little seasonal garden on a patio outside as well. Their drinks are mostly gin based, with gins from Banff’s local Park distillery. Their menu is also seasonal, but all the vegetables and meats were incredibly fresh, and so was the fish and scallops that had to come from awhile away. We took 2 hours to enjoy everything and didn’t feel rushed at all even on the busy night. For a bit of tranquility outside of Banff, I would absolutely recommend Juniper for a special meal in this area
Excellent meal. Both specials were up to the billing.
Wonderful staff, food was fresh and delicious
Travelled to Banff from Winnipeg with my partner. Chose juniper bistro as our “fancy” meal for the trip. Definitely a great choice! Would recommend trying it out
Beautiful views, delicious food, & great service!
Beautiful view, good food. A little noisy from the highway.
Went for Sunday brunch and it was amazing! They have a braised rabbit benny! Plus there was live music - a lovely singer and her guitar. Amazing 👏
Fantastic view overlooking Banff. Wish there were more vegetarian options1
Extraordinarily beautiful setting. The staff was very pleasant, we weren't rushed, the Graze Menu has very limited offerings (it's online so we knew that in advance) and the food and service was fine although nothing special.
Short staff - common Banff problem and understandable
Vegetables undercooked ( raw) but on menu as roasted
Food quality good
Heard much better reviews from weekend diners
Soooo delicious! Best breakfast I’ve ever had with an amazing view. French toast is a must!
First time coming here from Toronto. Food was well prepared and service was great. Love the view by the window. Would definitely recommend.
Worth going. Nice view from the patio, although a bit a noise from the highway. Did not have a couple of menus items available.
Ambiance is great here. Cozy lounge and restaurant has beautiful mountain view inside and on the patio.
Chicken dish was great. Maybe replace polenta with potatoes..? Our breakfast was good too. Definitely will return to the Juniper bistro.
We have discovered a new jewel in Banff. The food is excellent, top quality and taste. Well located with nice view of the mountains and a bit outside of the Banff crowd. Very friendly service. Special mention to Cate our server.
Stunning views. Lovely staff. Great food. I love this place!
