Kamei Royale Downtown
Established in 1976, Kamei Royale was the first Japanese restaurant to introduce the now famous BC Roll and various original sushi dishes found in Vancouver. Presenting the largest counter-top sushi bar and an exhilarating Robata grill showcasing the chef's skills.
Kamei Royale has renovated and renewed itself again in 1990. Bringing forth a brand new bar lounge and Tatami rooms the massive floor space can easily accommodate up to 200 tour groups. Also, with the karaoke lounge now bustling, everyone can enjoy our popular drinks and dishes while singing away to the latest songs ranging from every corner of the planet!
Happy hour rolls really not worth getting. Main fish dish poorly prepared and expensive for what was given. Not sure that we will ever try again even though the service was very good.
Best sushi. Hitomi is the best server we've ever had, we get her almost every time and she makes the experience that much better!
Very disappointed. Fresh fish but recipies didn’t taste good.
Great place. Good service and good food, nice design.
Food was good but missing sushi like they had before
The best sushi and the nicest staff! Made our trip to Vancouver memorable! Definitely check it out you will not be disappointed.
Simply the best, will go another time. Now you can sit outside.
Quaint little restaurant. Staff were very pleasant. I thought there should have been a bit better selection of items but the sushi we ordered was quite good. No complaints at all. Enjoyed our dinner and would recommend going there.
Kamei Royale is right downtown Vancouver and they offer FREE parking!! That's huge! Restaurant was quite pleasant (not elaborate by any means). The service was superb right from reception all the way through the meal. Very friendly and efficient. They have an option where you can order your main course and for an extra few dollars you can add an appetizer, miso soup and rice. That's what we chose to do. My wife ordered the sizzling beef dish and chose tempura shrimp as her appetizer and I ordered the miso marinated black cod and chose a sweet karaage chicken dish as my appetizer. We shared all plates. All the food was quite tasty although I thought the black cod had a bit of a strong taste to it (not enough though to complain about). Kamei has a "happy hour" until 6:30PM and we arrived at 6:00PM so we ordered 2 glasses of wine each at a very good price. Overall, very good value for the money. We'll be back.
Great!!! Incredible service and really good food!!!
I loved this restaurant. Such a nice calm relaxed unpretentious vibe and the sashimi really was incredible. The staff were so attentive and helpful in our selections. Oysters were great. Sake was great. Aburi was delicious (toro topped).
Great additional outdoor dining area that is away from the street. Happy Hour menu for Mon to Fri. $0.99 oysters special are so-so but everything else on the H/H is pretty good.
Great food. Very authentic.
Excellent service and lovely sushi
Excelente service with very good food. COVID conscience . Highly recommend for Japanese food and sake.
I celebrated my birthday with my family in this restaurant and we were all satisfied with food, service and ambiance. Strongly recommend!
Amazing food! I have a gluten allergy (celiac) and the waitress was very aware as well as checked in with the kitchen. The fish was fresh and sushi very tasty! Will definitely be going back when in the city.
It was awesome as always. Love this place and the people who are genuine. Also the food is incredible! Just wish we lived closer
The staff was very friendly. We found the food took quite awhile with our meals arriving at least 20 mins apart. The blossom roll was apparently very good. My California roll lacked any flavor. The spicy salmon roll was ok.
My son’s meal wasn’t even close to the picture and quite rubbery(squid?).
Try the happy hour menu, amazing!
Great food and great service. Nice design. Good place for a date or nice dinner.
Great food menu. Great service. Staff are authentic.
The waygu beef is worth trying.
BUT drinks are over-priced.
The house red and white wines need to get upgraded to better quality. And how can a Japanese restaurant run out of a common saki ?!
As always a memorable, perfect dinner, the sashimi is the best anywhere, period!
We are regulars, at least once a month. The food is always first rate and the staff could not be better. In fact we have become good friends. They have my vote.
Excellent food and excellent service!!!!
Nice and quiet ambiance but thats maybe because it was a Monday night.
Excellent dinner!Great service!Rolls were super fresh!
We are regulars there, need I say more, it's our go to for sushi. The food, the great staff, the attention to detail always combine for fine experience.
Best sushi in Vancouver, freshest sashimi anywhere.
very polite and attentive service. food always fresh - good value
Wonderful dinner, the freshest sashimi in the entire city, this place never disappoints!
We enjoyed the chef recommended lobster rolls and cuttlefish fish. Delicious.
The short ribs appetizer were a little chewy, other than that, it was very good. I will come back again soon
Food is always great at Kamei.
Service was a bit below outstanding.
It was amazing! Had a date with my best friend and the meal was delicious. Inexpensive and a great place to network and connect with clients over dinner.
Best Japanese restaurant I know! Lobster sashimi, when available, is a must!
Always a great experience at Kamei and delicious food too
Went with our 2 sons for a family dinner. They are adhering to Covid -19 rules so we felt safe and had a very nice evening.
Delicious food; I loved it, the sushi with fire is the best
