Kamei Royale Downtown
Established in 1976, Kamei Royale was the first Japanese restaurant to introduce the now famous BC Roll and various original sushi dishes found in Vancouver. Presenting the largest counter-top sushi bar and an exhilarating Robata grill showcasing the chef's skills.
Kamei Royale has renovated and renewed itself again in 1990. Bringing forth a brand new bar lounge and Tatami rooms the massive floor space can easily accommodate up to 200 tour groups. Also, with the karaoke lounge now bustling, everyone can enjoy our popular drinks and dishes while singing away to the latest songs ranging from every corner of the planet!
Had an enjoyable dinner amongst friends at this location. Last time I dined at Kamei Royale, it was located on the 2nd floor in a small mall at Burrard and Alberni.
Did not disappoint. Great ambience and service.
The food was meh and the server forgot to bring our soups and also our chicken teriyaki was brought very late. Won't go back.
Fresh sushi, ample portions and wonderful service.
Overall, go elsewhere if your looking for quality sushi. We were looking for a restaurant with some ambiance, and our top picks had no availability until late. Think we would have had better sushi from a casual place (which are all over!)
Chefs omikqze appetizer (6 pcs for $15) was terrible. Not tasty at all, little fish (one of six had salmon), and 4 of us didn’t finish it (so consistency in opinions of the samples). Servers were nice, but it was a long wait for 4 rolls (server offered us free miso - nice, but soup also only ok). We ordered 4 specialty rolls and 2 of 4 were ok (lobster roll and cherry something not great, especially for price).
Location, service and menu is great! Unfortunately most of us got belly issues afterwards. It’s our second time to come and unfortunately we won’t come back. Value for money is not the best. Atmosphere and service and ambiance are awesome!
We had a 20+ people birthday dinner there. The food looks fabulous but it actually taste just ok. But the fresh oysters were very good👍
Loved this authentic Japanese restaurant. We were visiting Vancouver for the weekend and this was our kids' first choice. The food was delicious. The service was friendly, quick and attentive. Would absolutely recommend.
the food are fresh and prompt service, never disappointed
Good food, lively atmosphere.
We were triple covered by the service staff so the dining experience also made you feel special upon leaving.
We had a great meal here tonight. They were very friendly and accomodating.
Food was excellent, very fast service. Extremely affordable but still great quality food.
2nd time. Won't be the last. Great menu and libations list. Sake!!!
Good food and service. We are happy with our dining at Kamei Royale.
As usual, the food and service was great. The only issue was car park. The website said there is a free parking after 6 but we couldn’t find it.
Very fresh fish, sushi was all lovely and the service was very attentive. We will definitely be back.
Excellent as usual
Friendly and helpful staff. Food was great, bridging from traditional to modern. Great ambiance for a small party
Service and food was excellent. The menu has pix of what you order. My wife chose the chicken teriyaki & sushi boat while I had the unagi sashimi boat. A lot of food for these orders! Then on top of it all - we went for their dessert platter - it is large enough for four people. Great value.
We had group dinner with 9 people.
Their service was excellent and foos were very good too.
Excellent Japanese spot that always delivers good quality and authentic Japanese food.
Excellent as always!
Great food. Loved the samurai roll we also got the mango roll which was great and the assorted tempura platter. Great service and prices
Food was pretty good, service was also pretty good given we were a large group. Karaoke was fun after dinner!
Pros: the mango roll and the Bc roll were tasty and the sushi rice was fresh. Cocktails were very well presented and tasted great. Chicken karate was crispy and the pieces were a fair size
Cons: The miso soup was lukewarm, there was a giant black hair in one of the plates, not much effort was made to remedy it, we waited 15 minutes for the bill and finally had to flag someone to get it. The mixed seafood tempura for $22.00 was mostly batter and had two quarter size pieces of scallop and one prawn. Overpriced for what we received
Never addressed our anniversary. Would have been nice to have some recognition.
This is a nice place to taste Japanese cuisine. In addition, the selection and types of sake is awesome. We loved it and I am sure will be back for more sushi and sake. Try the warm sake on a cold winter evening, it is beautiful!
Meal was fantastic, exactly what sushi/sashimi should be light.
Fantastic food and service! Great quality ingredients in all 5 of the rolls we ordered.
Great authentic feel with amazing food. The restaurant had very cool decor. The menu offered lots of options. Service was a little slower but it was a busy Saturday night so it's to be expected. Food presentation was outstanding.
Food was delayed by a ton, first time going for a dine out event. Never going back there again, prices were $45 for the dine out event and had to wait for the entree for too long. By the time we got our food, everyone else was done and food for the dine out event was not enough to even feed a kid.. A $28 meal had more food than $45 meal. Not happy with it at all, unsatisfied.
Everything great except other customers behind us spoke too loudly, making it unpleasant.
Great food, polite staff and they have Karaoke!!!!!!
Food was ok. Service was extremely poor. Waitress forgot half our order and we waited for an hour to get it. Not attentive enough to even refill drinks for the entire time. She blamed it on a big party on the other side(which was half empty). Great weekend except for this experience being the one night that sucked, for lack of a better descriptor. Wont return.
Excellent service & high quality seafood. Sushi boat was good value.
I like the old place better
We enjoyed our dinner marking some family here from Australia. The food was fantastic, the service was great. We will definitely be back.
The restaurant at it's old location seemed to be very authentic. In its new location I would compare it more to a pub as loud music is blasted on their speakers and sports highlights occupy the four or five wide screen televisions. The service was alright but I was missing chopsticks when I got my meal and lacked a napkin.
Awesome food. Great service.
