We were there for lunch on a perfect warm fall afternoon. The food has gone down so much. As a certified chef my only guess is that an unqualified kitchen helper was filling in for the chef . Soba noodles were soft and broken with too many cucumbers, the cauliflower was sour and soggy, most of the food lacked umami balance . Very dissatisfied. The patio atmosphere saved the lunch. They need better chefs
Such a treat to enjoy outdoor dining with an interesting variety of Japanese delicacies. The Wagu beef rice and spicy hamachi lettuce cups are winners. Definitely worthy of repeat visits!
The service and vibe at Kasa Moto was great. Staff were accommodating of a variety of allergies, service was fast and friendly, and the meal was outstanding. 10/10 would recommend.
Not worth the price. Cool ambience. Just come here for drinks and snacks.
Had my celebratory birthday dinner here last weekend. Sat on the rooftop terrace. Food, service and ambience were great. Would return.
service was very good. all dishes except for the scallops were very good. Noise level was a bit too high. Overall we enjoyed it would would definitely be back
Food was average and over priced. Favorite dish was the fried chicken.
The food is at an acceptable quality considering the price. The server was not attentive and were mix up with the food we ordered and a table nearby. They left our salad with the nearby table for 10 min before realizing it s ours. And they just moved it to our table.
I was underwhelmed by the quality of food and overall value .
Despite our special request on open table and mention this was a birthday celebration to be placed in the action this was completely ignored by the hostess.
We were very disappointed with our experience. We were escorted to a table at the front window of the restaurant. Isolated. Felt like we were seated in a cold indoor porch. Alone. We asked to be moved.
We ordered about 10 dishes and about half tasted like lime. Just overpowered every other flavour. We were scraping off the sauce to taste the food underneath.
I had high hopes for Kasa Moto given that I had great experiences with other restaurants from Chase Hospitality Group. ( actually now I think of it, I’ve been to all of them in town and enjoyed all of them greatly) However My experience with Kasa Moto was very... lacking. We ordered a ceviche, wagyu fries and a platter of sashimi to start, and they were all very forgettable. Food tastes okay but nothing special. I have no way to explain it other then saying there was nothing special about dishes we choose. I expected something better that justify the price. Also the runner who delivered the sashimi rushed through narating the names of sashimi pieces with somewhat uncertain tone. We had no clue what we fish we were eating after she promptly left the table in a rush. I mean it would’ve been totally understandable if the restaurant was full and the staffs seem busy but frankly we were quite puzzled why she had to rush off when the restaurant weren’t busy. It wasn’t the worst reataurant experience ever, someone might have a great experience if the person is lucky to choose a better dish and get a better staff serving him/her, but for me I won’t be going back as I was throughly unimpressed.
A little disappointed because I expected better. Had lunch there a few months ago and I remembered it was quite impressive. This dinner was not as great. Food is good but nothing spectacular and for the price I would expect better. Great service and friendly staff.
Absolutely amazing ! Food, service and atmosphere was great ! Would go back in a heart beat
We sat upstairs on the patio above the bar, which let us have a quiet conversation. The Japanese fusion food was exceptional, even for one skeptical diner ‘who hated Japanese food’. The menu is small plates: two per person is more than enough. Wine is expensive, even by Ontario standards, but the list is extensive. Service was professional and well-paced and we had a wonderful evening. It would have been nice if all the dishes had been introduced and explained as they arrived.
Strange experience. Loved it the first time. Went back for our anniversary. Only the outside was open. They were out of Sake. Very odd for a Japanese fusion restaurant. They were out of crispy rice. Again very odd. Their waygu beef was chewy and their cauliflower was so spicy it was inedible. And my husband loves spice. Not many options for dairy-free. The waiter was sweet and apologetic, but we paid a lot and were still starving after the meal. The crowd was also pretty odd. Just made for a strange night. They offered us free sorbet, but we just wanted to leave.
Horrible attitude from staff. Couldn’t believe that the staff member bumped into me and got my shirt dirty and didn’t e en do anything about it. The host sat us at a table that had not even been wiped but was already set!
Hosts were horrible
My reservation was 10:00PM. I got there and my friends around 10:05 and the table wasn’t fully ready. 10:45 when we were seated. Took forever to get a drink from the bar ‘cause of people are all cramped around it. Waitress wasn’t really attentive enough as if we’re paying for $4.00 appetizer but we weren’t. Music was slightly loud - so you gotta sorta yell at your friends when talking. Lots of guys who’s out for look-see if you know what I mean. Food was gasm! That’s all.
We celebrated a birthday and our sever Dan was outstanding and Issac really made us feel welcomed and special as we were celebrating a birthday.
Poor service and foods are served very bad . We all asked the same food to be served together but we all eat at different time . They bring each food 10 min apart and by the time most of the people eat I have not eat yet
Great atmosphere, servers were friendly and the food was amazing! Perfect place for date nights or get togethers.
The food is always amazing here. It’s perfect for two or for a special occasion with a group.
excellent evening, great food, great service, fabulous ambiance
Fabulous place!! Celebrated a family dinner before our son's wedding. Wonderfully creative menu, outstanding service, catered to special dietary and allergy constraints without a problem, great cocktail and wine list, fun desserts options. Great time was had by all!!
Great outdoor patio! We were seated on the dining side rather than loud bar side, which was great. The food was tasteful and impressive, although a hair was found in our tofu. We were not charged for it, and the server asked if we wanted another dish instead. It seemed like the server was more attentive to the older couples around us, but we still received good service. I would definitely go back again :)
Mechanical, perfunctory and in decline.
It was not my first or second time, and the clipped rote repetition of the forced greetings and jumbled menu virtue prose was just too well performed to feel authentic.
Fridge tasting sashimi, cold fried dishes that should be hot, slimy shrimp and mismatched utensils for dishes that do not use chopsticks for example made for less than seamless sharing.
The inability to choose indoor or outdoor dining was a huge negative.
Overall, a nice place to hang out, great people watching, but just not worth the disappointment at the table.
Too bad. It used to be great.
Waiter was very rude and our table was downstairs although it’s empty up
Really great food and service! Their rooftop is amazing in summer time!
I am a regular here..but something happened service was terrible and music too loud to hear yourself think...shame as I brought a guest to impress ...
Vibe is awesome. But if you’re not connected to the owner or manager be prepared to be moved around or asked to leave early.
Delicious food. Carpaccio was the best dish of the night.
Server told us we were suppose to get the sashimi first course but did not arrive till last. And when it did he just dropped it on the table did not describe the fishes on it and address the table right beside us. Service was lackluster.
Love Kasa Moto and go all the time. This particular experience wasn't the best as the service was really slow this one night but I usually have great services here so I'm sure it was just an off-night.
I’ve been to Kasamoto a few times and always love it there. The only thing that I didn’t like on my last visit was that I reserved a table for two on the rooftop (booked it and was confirmed by Kasamoto by email) and when I got there they told me that it was full and all reservations were booked months in advanced. Well that’s nice that’s its fully booked, I didn’t appreciate the fact that when I make a reservation and confirmed by the restaurant online that they don’t notify me that before showing up. It’s not a big deal and we’ve still ate downstairs and the food was amazing as always. Just need to be a bit more considerate when something like that happens.
Great food and perfect weather but a bit too “bumpin’” for us.
Service is okay - the food is terrible, especially for the amount of money you're spending.
Bartender got a little mouthy, wasn’t sure if that was how they always talk to customers .
First, the hostess “greeted” us by informing that we had to leave the table at 10pm for another reservation. Very “warm” welcome.
Second, our table was in front a tv. An absolute mood killer and totally tacky for an upscale place.
Third, the music was way too loud. Hard to talk to people in our table.
Fourth, after we finished our meal it took the waiter forever to pick up the dishes and bring the check.
The only good thing was the food, which is too little value for the money you pay. I’m definitely not coming back.
Enjoyed all that Kasamoto had to offer, the waiter guided us thru the various options explaining that the menu offered many dishes to share and that we did
All 6 of us enjoyed every dish and every drink strongly recommend the wagyu steak on the hot stone, fried chicken was also tasty
Left feeling very satisfied
Love the food and the service. But the music was way too loud and made it impossible to talk we were seated right under a speaker. I did ask our waitress if we could move but the only available table was also under a speaker. She did get the music turned down for a bit but eventually it was turned up louder. We were not the only table complaining about this.
Food is delish but still pretty expensive for the quantities.
Was too busy on Wed.
Music was too loud.
