I love Mediterranean cuisine but this was not quite what I was expecting. The food was ok, not exceptional (like I would have expected with the prices) and the service was rather poor (I was never asked for a refill of wine and when a customer next to me asked the waitress if the White House was near the restaurant, her answer was curt and she said “I don’t have time to show you right now, I’m very busy” and walked away to never come back).

I ordered lamb salad for $24.95. A complete rip-off. The two very little lamb chops were cooked nicely enough. But there was hardly anything else. This was a little appetizer, but certainly priced like an entree salad. They didn’t put on the tomatoes, onions, and chickpeas, per the menu. (They later brought me the first two but didn’t have chickpeas.) I still still hungry, of course. I will never go back.

Special dinner with out of town old friend. Good does not disappoint at all. Grilled octopus, pan seared squid and fish main course were all excellent. And attentive service on a quiet Wednesday night. But wood floor, hard top tables and bare walls make LOUD echoes all around even when there were only a few tables were occupied. I would not come here at busy times. Just too much NOISE to enjoy company or food.

I regret to report that the food is overpriced, and the service was not good. $18 for a simple salad is not a good deal. The spanakopita seems to have been prepared the day before, and reheated upon serving to us. Was stale and chewy in a bad way. Other items we ordered were just just OK.

Ridiculously overpriced for value and compared to similar establishments. The online menu is out of date and the Chefs special is 55 per person versus $68 the menu on site. That’s disingenuous and a bit of fraud. We made reservations at 6:15 because all of the other times showed booked. When we arrived we were literally the only people sitting at a table. I’ll never come back here.

They were not equipped to handle Valentine’s Day. It took 2 hours to get our appetizers. Very disorganized. Brought wrong dish twice. Fish awesome as always. Octopus and shrimp forgettable.

Bronzino was well prepared, the chicken dish with mashed potato was excellent. Consider on low on staff, but everyone there pulling it nicely. Only regret was their wine list. We picked bottle of wine did not have after that we picked 3 more different bottles they didn’t have, no choice had to settle for what they offered. Also their music sounds was not appealing.

The waiter refused to bring the wine list and referred us to “wine by the glass” list at the end of the menus. The service was really lacking (the place was practically empty, so I am not sure what could have been the reason). I also do not expect paper napkins in a restaurant. Food is ok, but not great. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

We’ve gone to Kellari for years pre Covid. We were so disappointed by the change in atmosphere, service and quality of food. I don’t recommend as the quality of food is average and doesn’t reflect the high price.

The folks at Kellari can cook fish. The lavraki I had was delicious. Their spanikopita appetizer is awesome -- uses real dough, not filo. One of my fav restaurants in DC.

Food and atmosphere were very good. However, the service was surprisingly poor. I had a reservation for 8 but we showed up with 9. The hostess seemed rather irritated when I asked if it would be a problem. The restaurant was not busy at this time. Our waiter never asked if we would like drinks before ordering food. I had to ask if we could order a drink before ordering the food. To get a second drink, I had to get up from the table and find our waiter who was sitting at a table with other employees. We won't be back, and it's too bad because the food was very good.

I was so disappointed. I suggested this restaurant to my date as a really good Greek restaurant, and that made me look bad. The service was excellent and almost all of our food was good, but how does a Greek restaurant mess up saganaki? What was worse, the chef seemed to not want to make it work, which makes me wonder how the rest of the evening went for the other patrons(we were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time). Our server Elizabeth tried her best, but that badly done VERY traditional Greek dish alone will probably keep me from going back.

The pandemic must have had a great impact on the restaurant. Prices have gone up substantially and the lukewarm food put it on my not worth it list. Used to be a favorite of mine, especially for lunch. Not now.

Kellari Taverna was a great place for hosting our staff luncheon. The staff was attentive and the managers extremely helpful and accommodating. The food was reasonable, fresh and professionally served. All of my colleagues liked their food and spoke highly of returning on their own. Kellari Taverna is definitely on my list to return to.

Have been to Kellari many times and it's always been satisfactory. This time things had changed: on all counts the restaurant was below par....bad and slow service, food substandard, some food did not come. We finally complained. They cut our bill in half. That wasn't enough for a bad eating-out experience. Will give them one more chance, and if it hasn't changed will not return.

The woman who took our orders was dismissive, extremely inattentive, and at a couple points rude. I took a guest there as a special treat, I had to apologize at the end. The food was great. But I have never had service like that at this restaurant before, I have no idea what happened there. But it was very disappointing. (It was also nearly unbearably noisy, my guest and I had a hard time hearing each other, and when we asked the waitress to repeat herself because we could not hear her over the background noise, she was visably annoyed that we asked her to repeat. :-(

I must say that even though the food was good we were very disappointed to have a homeless person walk in the front door past the hostess, bartender and management and come to our table on the other side of the room and begin requesting money after mentioning his hardships and health problem in the middle of our dining. When we asked him to kindly leave, he began cussing us out and getting argumentative without one person from the restaurant coming over until we had to CALL them over. The vagrant was at our table side and when the restaurant staff finally came over after 5-8 minutes, THEY stayed 5 feet away. We were shouted at, call bigots, cursed at before they bargained with the man to leave. This was unacceptable.! This could have been handled in a much more professional way. We are all sympathetic to the plights of the homeless but it’s the restaurants course of action that was completely unacceptable and too delayed to allow for anything more dangerous to happen in that situation. On top of that, there were no apologies or considerations from the restaurant. We WILL NOT return there

We went for their brunch at noon on a Sunday. The place was nearly empty and quiet. The grilled calamari appetizer was particularly good (not chewy) as was the lamb salad. Brunch came with Bloody Marys or mimosas — a great deal when using a Groupon voucher.
