About King + Duke
At King and Duke, we showcase locally sourced ingredients through simple, yet focused hearth cooking. Our goal is not to manipulate food, but to accentuate the natural flavors of our products through slower methods of cooking and the smoke of the wood fire. Through this primitive technique, constantly moving and manipulating the live fire, we invest exacting attention to the preparation of each and every dish.
Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.

King + Duke Ratings and Reviews
Great food. The chicken fried steak was delicious. I love the “side” of bacon I got. It was literally a plate full of it. Sitting at the chefs table over looking the line was fun, especially since I was dining alone. Service was very good. My waiter was awesome and made sure I had a great experience. I will be back for sure!!
Fantastic service, amazing food. Sat at the chef's counter, really amazing to watch the talented cooks do their jobs.
We had such a great experience at King + Duke! It was our first night out together (without the kids) in more than 6 months. The food was excellent and our server was so knowledgeable and friendly. It was perfect all around.
First time and definitely will be back!!
We had a pretty late reservation time of 8:45p. We arrived and the restaurant was packed and had very little standing room. We moved to the bar and the bar staff was prompt to come take an order. They were prompt and very friendly even with the full restaurant. We were seated quite late even tho we had a reservation, however the manager sent over complimentary apps to the table to make up for the long wait! Our waiter was very knowledgeable on the menu and made terrific suggestions. We had a really great meal and nice time. Worth going back again!!
2 top tables too close together.
Appetizer never came.
Ordered The King steak and it was more fat and gristle than meat.
Our server, Melissa, was delightful. Very knowledgeable. Gave excellent recommendations of the sea bass and steak. Everyone was timely, and the atmosphere was beautiful. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful anniversary meal. King + Duke is well worth the price.
Great waiter who made the right menu recommendation. A little loud, but overall a great place.
Valentine’s Day...wow, King + Duke really knows how to make a couple feel very special. From the special menu and respectful/courteous staff to the amazing food, wine and coffee...this place is amazing! Can’t wait to try the regular menu, definitely will return.
Valentine’s dinner. Loved it!
Great meal with great service! The Rueben brisket sandwich was delicious!
Great food and well presented.
Great food and service! They also have an awesome bar that is highly underrated!!
We went for brunch for the second time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food and drinks are on point. I highly recommend the cinnamon rolls.
Everything outstanding. Food and service was great.
We came here for my husbands birthday - great food and service. We try to go to a new place each year but he has said he all ready wants to come here again next year.
I found King + Duke through Open Table and didn’t know what to expect. What a great place for what I call, Event Dining. Start with drinks, then try almost all apps, then order dinner and share so everyone tastes everything...with great cocktails and wine. Their wine list is fantastic. The sommelier in training was able to answer my question about the climate of the region to help me select a great wine suitable to my pallete...a great South African Red...which I had never tried before. Hats off to Nicole, our waitress...she was aces. And the food...wow, every dish was a winner. Truly enjoyed our 3.5 hour Event Dining at King + Duke.
Great food, great service, will go again
Excellent food, excellent wine and excellent service. I'd call this "upscale American." It's a relaxed atmosphere, while the staff takes great care of you.
The food was excellent and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu. It was a very enjoyable evening.
The service was exceptional. However, I thought the menu was limited. More selections would be better. First I had the deviled eggs which were delicious but slightly over salted. I had the sea bass which had a fishy taste. So I didn't care for it. The au jus was delicious. I had the potato puree which was very good and very cheesy. The dessert I had was the donuts which were quite dry. But it was a great and delicious surprise to find flan under the cream.
You went above and beyond per usual! THANK YOU for making my bday so special
Great food. For a business lunch and not being busy, food took a little longer than anticipated.
The King and Duke has one of those menus where you'd like one of everything! Delicious. Beautifully presented. Memorable. I chose a Tuesday for my first visit here as I had heard about the seafood chowder. The serve very generous portions and the soup was delicious! The service was outstanding and I'll be excited to return.
Definitely one of the best restaurant in Atlanta! Quality service and great food.
Duck was tough. Brussels sprouts mushy... must have been an off night for the chef.
They went above and beyond to make my sister feel extra special for her birthday. They were very accommodating with splitting portions (had them come out on separate plates). The champagne birthday toast was a special addition as well as cutting the cake we brought for us. The food was beyond delicious and came out in a reasonable time. Thanks!!
underwhelmed... burger was so, so. Steak "prices were out of sight"... $69 & $109.... really ?
Fantastic flavor profiles on the food... a bit pricy, but good value all around. A definite must do.
This is our second time at king and duke and the two experiences couldn’t be more different. The first time we came away amazed with the meal, the second we were disappointed and kinda turned off on how much we spent. What made our second experience so poor was the service and the excuses the restaurant gave for an error with our meal. Our waitress was inattentive, rude, and slow to respond to our request. The second big issue was the execution of the king steak we ordered, it costs 110 dollars. We split it between two with one person receiving the fat cap and the bone. We asked if serving pure fat was part of the steak experience to which the manager responded that one of her waitress loves it. What a bs excuse. She obviously knew she was in the wrong to serve us a steak where 1/3 of the total weight was inedible. They ended up giving us two free desserts, but for whatever reason they picked them for us, kinda weird. All in all the experience left a lot to be desired especially since the check was 250 dollars. We will try other places before going back.
King + Duke has a relaxing/chill atmosphere that makes you want to sit with a drink for hours and order every item on the menu. I will be visiting King + Duke next time I am in Atlanta. Our server Mike was knowledgeable and helped us through the menu so everything we ordered on our tapas style adventure was superb. I suggest the potatoes purree, Georgia shrimp, mushrooms, crispy Brussel sprouts, and a New York sour.
14/10 would dine again.
Wonderful experience, fantastic cocktails, excellent beer options. The food was delicious, however we were surprised by the brussels sprouts preparation. Kelly was our server and she was on point.
King + Duke never disappoints!! Great menu, wonderful ambiance and delicious food and drinks.
Very classy, delicious food. Really good sizes and everything was super tasty. Very good.
Just when I think visiting King + Duke can’t get any better, it somehow does... service was impeccable , food incredible and deliciously innovative, and my parents can’t wait to come back and experience the private chef’s table experience we’ve already enjoyed twice! Thank you !
my family and I went to King & Duke for my Birthday. We had amazing food, and the service was amazing. We had 3 young children and our server helped our family enjoy the food, ambiance and made it special for all of us. What a great way to celebrate a family birthday dinner!!!!
I ordered the burger this time and it was not good at all.
