King + Duke
Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.
Great service and food
Love coming here
Stephanie, the waitress, was great. Had lots of small plates; Asparagus was delicious, mushroom, Wagyu Beef Carpeccio was good but served differently than I'd had it before. It was wrapped.
Delicious dinner and great evening!
Had a wonderful experience at The King+Duke where our waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. She made the experience for us. The menu is a bit eclectic but everything we ordered was deliciously prepared over an open fire in the exposed kitchen. It really is a place you should try.
The new menu is excellent. We really enjoyed the soft shell crab and the Prime NY Steak. As always, everyone says hello, goodbye and thank you. The service is always good.
Our experience at King + Duke was fantastic!! The ambience is so warm and inviting with it's cozy feel and literary themed elements. This was my first time here but definitely won't be our last! The service from Toki was perfection and the short rib in particular was my favorite dish. Cooked so perfectly it just fell apart at the spear of a fork. And the sticky toffee pudding is still on my mind! Great evening!
Good food eclectic dishes with great flavor. Asparagus was awesome as was the halibut.
The waiter forgot about us waited 45 minutes for entree brought our appetizer after the entree arrived they switched waiters because they knew they messed up never offered to comp us just made us pay for expensive meal with poor service..
Exceptional fast service, waiters knew abundant info about the menu and were very helpful.
The staff and service was above and beyond as we celebrated my husbands birthday
I really like the King + Duke but didn't like that they changed their menu. Liked the old menu better.
Great place to experience in nice weather when you can sit outside and enjoy their patio. Really enjoyed the smoked bone marrow and halibut. Their buffalo chicken skins were outstanding as well.
great service & ambiance!
The service was outstanding and our sever (Callie) was knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. There are no side items with certain entrees and only one salad option. The food was very good. We had a great time and would recommend it.
Took some clients to lunch group of four. We had been very loyal to this place for over two years eating there every quarter. We drove from Asheville to Atlanta where there were plenty of choices.
We heard this trip and last time that there was a new chef but he had taken away some of our fav menu items—particularly the homemade hush puppies with pimento cheese. After discovering several other favorites missing our clients decided they would prefer to eat elsewhere next time.
I will say the service is always impeccable here and the staff is very accommodating. But the main reason you dine is for the food so I hate to say goodbye but wanted all to know the reason why.
I really like the ambiance here. I would more than likely meet friends here for drinks. Not much food for the money but it was tasty.
Great atmosphere and service. Creative, well conceived menu but not always executed well- eg. Pork chop overdone and salty in spots, duck underdone despite discussion and request that it be medium- not rare to medium rare.
Great starters and desserts. Pricey for value received- for example Twelve dollars for a glass of Merlot that should cost $8 to $10 a bottle.
Overall our ‘twenty somethings’ favorite place- as long as we pick up the tab!
Great atmosphere, food and service
Enjoyed it. Service was outstanding.
The menu has changed and unfortunately not for the better. I used to love this place but not anymore. I had the striped bass and mushrooms and the bass was over cooked and the mushrooms were mediocre. My friends both had the burger and it was just mediocre. The fries were over cooked. On the plus side the service was overall great and the cocktails were tasty. We had several from the menu. And the ambience was great as well. But def not worth the price. The value for the dollar was not there. I do not mind paying for top quality food but this was not it. Sorry king + duke.
Food was great, kind of pricy though.
Food was excellent menu selection was outstanding. Wine selection was good some very off label hard to find this far east selections. I will be back.
Dawyne our server was awesome. Great meal. Nice evening for sure.
I have been to K + D time to time and I have always enjoyed my time here.
My husband and I was overdue for a date night and decided to dine here to reminisce the olden days (Sounds like an oldie couple, I know)
We both had a glass of wine and I am no wine connoisseur, but the wine tasted a little old(been opened for awhile, Syrah, Saint-Damien, Côtes du Rhône 2016) but that could be because the wine I chose wasn’t a popular one. However, the glass my husband ordered was on point (Cabernet Sauvignon+, Cain Cuvee, Napa Valley, NV11).
The two of us ordered scallops as the appetizer, then we ordered “The King”, which is a giant 40oz tomahawk steak with bone marrow on the side. Our server, Patrick said about 8oz is the bone and the rest, 38oz is the steak... lol no, we couldn’t finish it but on the way out of the restaurant, we saw a table of 4 ordered the same thing and was almost done with their dish. Lesson? Though the menu says it serves 2-4, we aren’t the 2 people that can finish a 40oz steak dish. We would be part of the 2 that needs another couple to help us finish it all.
Overall, I always enjoy my time here and I love the atmosphere. Would definitely, always recommend this place to anyone 😀
Excellent dining experience. Food and particularly our waiter. Excellent delivery and knowledge of the menu. Made the evening pleasant and enjoyable.
Really great experience, if you mention on open table you are there for an event they will mention it, while it was not a cheaper meal it was a great experience that provided a unqiue dinner that justified the value, would go again!
Great!! Takes some time for brunch. They don’t rush you at all. The cinnamon rolls are amazing.
Restaurant is worth a try for sure with it's nice ambiance and location. However the food was just OK for the portion sizes and price. $28 for 4 very small scallops. We shared 5 smaller tapas style portions between two and were still hungry. Their bread service and Sticky Toffee Pudding were the highlights of the meal.
One of our favorite places to go for a great meal in a next level atmosphere. Menu is always fresh and never had a bad meal there. Especially loved the striped bass I had and the brussel sprout salad!
The main dishes could've have at least one side dish that came with it, instead of having to order a separate side dish.
Thank you so much for making this such an enjoyable Experience for our large party and for my friend's Birthday! The service beginning from reservations, follow up, arrival, all the way through to our departure was a standard of comfort and excellence. We could see how important it was to you that we had a great experience, and we certainly did. Thank you and we will be back again!
I am not a fan of the new family style menu. Please bring back the regular menu that included entrees.
The staff took phenomenal care of us. They made fantastic recommendations and the food was fit for a king. I look forward to returning.
The entire experience at King +Duke was amazing! The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Jonathan was our server and his love of food is unmatched. Our entire group of 11 was mesmerized by the way he described each meal. Jonathan's passion for food made our dinner an over-the-top experience that we all want to have again.
The staff was amazing and accommodated our large group request (which was submitted with little notice). The food, as always, was a showstopper. I couldn't be happier with how this event turned out. Thank you King+Duke!
Whenever we come to Atlanta, visiting the King and Duke is on our must do list! The service is exceptional!!
We love this restaurant but this time the food wasn’t the best. My burger was completely burnt but I didn’t want to complain since we already sent back the two leg of lamb entrees. The meat was very tough to chew which isn’t how lamb should be. They also took off a very popular starter which was unfortunate. Our service was amazing though and the manager made it right.
My waitress was the bomb, she was kind and she knows her stuff
